It took a little more time to recover from the race over the weekend. I was trying to decide if I had a minor injury or if I was just sore so I kept the running easy and it passed.

That being said, I think I am going to wait until either Saturday or next week for the return to quality workouts.

I'm going to take the opportunity to run with the local running store in my hood. They happen to be doing an event with Zoot to debut the solanas. I am intrigued because they got an award for best debut. Not best debut for a tri shoe, but best debut period. I'm skeptical

I agree...on both    And I'm really excited to have a race to shoot for, though I started getting a little case of the nerves as I was thinking about how to train for altitude around here. lol

Of course all of this is assuming we get registered in time.

Eh, to truly acclimate to that kind of altitude it would take way, way more time than I would have to spend.

I believe time would be best spent running uphill.

ohhh, I see lots of weekend South Mtn trail runs over the next few months, and soul-sapping treadmill inclines. My local routes are just pancake flat...20mi in every direction.

DH and I were discussing how you and J would train for the elevation and hills. Up and down your mountains a lot and a couple trips to Flagstaff.

I tried a pair at the running store, but liked the Kane better. I can say they were comfortable and led me to pursue other Zoot options.  Enjoy the run!!!

I have a pair.  Put them into my shoe rotation last fall right before I developed achilles bursitis and have been afraid to wear them again.  I really don't think they were the culprit b/c they have the same drop as one of the other shoes in my then rotation, but I'm being really careful with injuries these days

As I recall, I liked them, but liked my other zoots better.

Do you guys tend to buy Zoots because you are triathletes and you are marketed to? Or is there a specific reason? Are they more accommodating to triathlon running?

I tried a pair a couple years back because they were supposed to be conducive for triathlon. I liked them but not enough to stick with them. Of course, I don't do sockless and that is their big feature.

I tried a the zoot TTs in multiple different sizes and didn't like any of them. I tried them because they cater to tri (I wanted a shoe that drains well and that is good for sockless), and the suit I bought and liked was zoot. The TTs have way too small of a toe box and no matter how big a shoe I got they felt too small. They also felt very stiff, and the integrated bungee shoelaces didn't seem to work that well.

I love my Asics gel-nimbus, so I decided to try their tri shoe, the gel-noosa. They're awesome and I'm very happy with them. The only thing I can complain about is that the bungee laces that come with the shoe are too short, so I ordered some lock laces to put on them.

The Zoot TT Ultra 4.0 was one of my favorite shoes period before I got hooked on Nike Free 4.0.  The sockless support in the Zoot tri shoes are nice, but the Frees have a nice inner that doesn't tear my feet up.

Once you get past T2, there really is no difference between a "tri shoe" and a running one.  Running is running at that point.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I like a tri designed shoe especially for warmer weather races.  For my first warm weather HIM (Hawaii 70.3) I wore my ASCIS DS trainers and with all the fluids running into my shoes they got very, very sloshy.  So drainage is important.  Most tri shoes have some type of drainage holes in the soles.

The seamless interiors are more comfortable for running sockless (as a general rule).  I normally wear socks when I road run race but for tri's I prefer to go sockless.  Saves a few seconds in transition and is one less thing to think about.

Lastly, I like elastic laces and a some type of heel strap to make them easier to slip on.  Not a huge deal as you can put speed laces in any shoe but t

he heel strap is nice.

I had great luck with Pearl Izumi iso transitions but wore them out.  Just bought a pair of Zoots but have only used them once.  I think I prefer the PI's but I'll stick with the Zoots for now.

Yeah. The things I was thinking about was the ability to go sockless and maybe a pull on the back of the heel. Laces are tertiary I suppose as it's easily added to any shoe.

My first racing flat was a T7, the  Wellington version with the pull on the heel (and the Union Jack heh )

I have these now  which are just the road version. I use them for everything HM and over.

As far as the ability to go sockless. I have yet to find a shoe that I can't run sockless in. However, drain holes are something I haven't noticed too much.

I was more just curious.

My husband is home today because he can barely sit up.  Really hoping this crud gets out of the house soon!!

I hope that the new job is everything that you were hoping for and that E is adjusting to her new daycare and continues to enjoy being a California girl :-)
