November's totals:
Bike:12h 45m 20s  - 210.33 Mi
Run:18h 09m 15s  - 97.46 Mi
Swim:1h 13m 32s  - 3300 Yd
about even with SSMinnow, well except for the swimming...  I have to find my way to the pool and get some more consistency on bike workouts.  On a positive note, Run mileage is probably my highest ever in a month and my long run has gone from 6.5 to 10.5 over the month.    I think I am on track to complete my first half marathon on  12/31...

That's a nice bit of running there, Rachel!  Would you like to run the Goofy challenge for me?

My run has been a bit curtailed by the little heel issue that seems to be resolving, but my bike is back up to speed and swim project "kim can swim" continues, slowly but surely.

November's totals:
Bike:15h 38m  - 295.25 Mi
Run:11h 44m 30s  - 84 Mi
Swim:10h 10m  - 16400 Yd
Strength:20m

Thanks!  It has been a blast just running!!

Rachel -- there is not much that hasn't been said where Gabriel is concerned. Keep on keepin' on. You are strong and he is still the same him, just with a new label that doesn't really change anything. Sending warm hugs your way -- it's never easy with our babies and it's hard to be dealt a new hand mid-game. Hang in there, and keep on running if you're having fun with it! Remember to take care of you, so you have the energy to take care of others. In our world, if Mom's not happy, nobody is happy. So keep Mom happy!!

Sam -- have fun with your short race!! It's just as important as the long ones!

Fatty -- tear 'em up out there, both times.

Julia -- you are awesome and I know you'll crush that course. Can't wait to read all about it. Hoping for good weather!

Roni -- words escape me, other than you go, girl!! I am in awe of what you are about to accomplish. I know you'll be strong going up those hills, and you can channel your inner jack-rabbit going down. Forward progress. Trust those legs. They have taken you to so many amazing places!!

No racing here. And not many comments on LT/FTP tests, other than I'm in denial and I need to stop my little running streak and get my arse on my bike, which means I, too, need to do one of those tests. It's easier to keep my run streak going...!! Slacker!!

Finally... I got the COOLEST pen in the mail today!! THANK YOU DOUG!! I totally love it!! I can't decide if it should stay home where I'll use it more, or put it in my bag where I can show it off. Maybe I'll just alternate. Thanks again!

That's all I got.

November's totals:
Bike:30m 55s  - 8.76 Mi
Run:27h 11m 28s  - 159.98 Mi

Kept my running streak alive (63 days and counting), and did a token spin to flush the legs post-trail-race. Happy with how the run is feeling, but need to get the bike thing going again. Swim can wait unless I get an insatiable craving for chlorine (stranger things have happened!).

SSMinnow - 2011-11-30 3:43 AM

So? who's ready to rock a race this weekend?  Details!

For the rest of us, there seems to be a lot of chatter about LT tests on the bike.  If you've done one, spill your strategy for getting the very best result possible!

ME!!!!!!!!!!

Rock N Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon! Last race of the season...possible (I'm not sure if I'll be up to do a 5K race in NJ).

No time goals, although I do want to PR, even if it's just a few minutes..a PR is a PR. :-)  I haven't been training as much as I did last year, but I am faster, and my endurance has improved.

Never tried LT test.  My legs wear out before my heart/lungs do...My heart reaches 150-160 minimum for a hard effort, yet, when I go up the hills here in Vegas, my heart goes up to 175-180 and that's when I start to feel it's "too much".   I think I want to try it again indoors. I always seem to hold myself back a little bit because I know after about 5 minutes of hard pedaling, my legs give out, so I "go easy".  :-(

hate to do this but x2 on all the above.  I did put the COOLEST pen in my Christmas stocking as something fantastic to look forward to.

November's totals: Run: 88.03 Didn't hit my mini goal of running every day but I'm happy regardless.

That's iffy...  given the fact that you are continuously immersing that arm in the water with some degree of force, it may not be as resistant as you would hope.  Then again, it might be.  Only one way to know for sure

sdalessio - 2011-12-01 10:47 AM So does water resistent to 30M mean I could swim w/ the watch?

Water resistant at 30 meters means that the watch -- with brand new seals, etc. -- can withstand pressure of 30 meters, which I believe is 4 times the atmospheric pressure of the air at sea level (I think every additional 10 meters in water depth adds the equivalent of the atmospheric pressure at sea level).  But it is tested as static pressure, with no movement of the water, no strap attached, no corrosion, etc.

Therefore, it depends on the age, wear and tear, etc of the watch.  The older the watch, and the more wear and tear, and the more it has been worn in salt water or chlorine for example the greater the corrosion and degradation of the seals and the less likely the seals are to stay in tact when swimming.

My 2 cents is that I would probably wear it swimming.  But I tend to buy inexpensive watches, some of which say they are water resistant, on the understanding that it won't be a big loss if the watch doesn't work or if I lose it or if one of my kids flushes it down the toilet.

Cool news....One of the race co's here has a race series.  If you do 5 races with them you are eligible for the series.  I had only planned on doing 4 of their races, but with a fluke I ended up doing a 5th race.  So with that 5th race I ended up taking 3rd OA female in the series.  Next season I'll be sporting a pretty snazzy bike jersey and doing a race for free.  Kiss

FYI - if you are looking at a series like this look at doing some of the small piddly races.  I raced the 1st OA female twice and beat her both times.  However she did a few smaller races and racked up some big points, so she won OA.  Kudos to her.  She'll be sporting a brand new wetsuit.

Anybody have any shoe discounts out there?  I saw Steve's Kswiss but I love my Zoots.  I was wondering about Running Warehouse or something.  I should have been smart and looked on Black Friday or Cyber Monday but I was focused on the kids' Santa list.

Speaking of gear, I have a ladies question.  Do any of the women wear bibs?  I'm hearing good things about them and was curious on people's opinions and their favorite brands.

Can I add on tri suits to this question?  Since I want to race mainly sprints on oly's next year I'm thinking about one of those as well.  Thoughts?
