fattyfatfat - 2010-09-12 10:18 AM does everyone have this?

over on the right, scroll down and check suzy's name.

That's really cool. If you click on the biker on the course map it gives you all Suzy's stats. She's currently riding at 32.6 MPH. She is flying!!!!!

Must have been on a good downhill section. She's down to 16 mph now.  Either that or she is so light, her feet came off the pedals, was flapping in the wind and she slowed down

My RR is up! :-

And I hope it doesn't get lost amid Suzy's cheering/updates!  Maybe someone can keep track of it, and once Suzy gets back and gives us her RR, someone can make one post with all the links! :-)

(not me though)  :-P

Lake Las Vegas Sprint Triathlon

BTW:  The guy I know that is on the Olympic Relay Team, did the Sprint Bike course. I *know* who he is, and he's fast...but there's NO way that he did 34mph avg, not with those massive climbs.  I saw him pass me when I was climbing, and saw him going back from the Sprint only turn off.   I suspect that at the Sprint "turn left", he just saw the cop pointing to the left direction, while the Olympics is supposed to go straight for the Olympic turn around.   Error on his part...

I'm not sure if he got disqualified or they got a Team Medal. I'll be surprised if they did.

LOL!  As I was doing it, I was saying to myself,  "John's gonna get pi$$ed. He's gonna scold me." BUT - Since I KNEW that normally my seat is set pretty much all the way forward to nearly -2. It was all the way to +2..that's nearly a inch difference!  BUT...I just did half way, so it wouldn't be too dramatic.  Bike was actually very comfortable and I was able to stay in my seat the entire time, no fidgeting.

If you say, "You were slow on the run because you moved your bike seat." I'll...*grrr* :-P

I will prepare a RR over the next few days, but here is the short version:

THE BAD:

Rainy morning, from steady rain to light misting.  Race organizers repeatedly said "looking at the radar, it appears that we are going through the last band of rain and the sun will break through shortly."  But they were repeatedly proved wrong.

The rain was irrelevant for the swim, but it definitely slowed down the bike, especially because there were 5500 participants on the roads that were crowded last year with 3000 participants.  (Two benefits of the rain were a) that a number of participants were no-shows and b) that it kept the run cool.)

At one point in the bike, I shifted coming down hill and my chain came off.  I had to stop to put it back on.  Also, during the bike, the motorcycle came up and clearly signalled that they thought I had entered the three bike length zone of the guy ahead of me, and demonstrably was looking at his watch.  I did not think I was within 3 bike lengths, but did not want to risk it so I did a little mini-sprint to pass the next three guys ahead of me.  (The motorcycle guy nodded, indicating that I was fine.)

And 3.5 miles into the run, I had to stop in a portopotty to take care of business.

THE GOOD:

It was a blast.  I really enjoyed the race.  I will have some bike porn coming in the next few days, but I rode a new bike - I got it and got it fitted over the past two weeks. (Suzy will appropriately criticize the decision-making of using a new bike in a race, but she has a bunch going on today, and may not read this.)  And I loved it.  In fact, I talked with my trainer, who also did the race.  He did a 2:16 - so obviously in much better shape than I.  But his bike time and my bike time were the same.  And I felt great after the race.  Was not dying at the end.  Picked up the pace over the last quarter mile.  and felt good.

Oh, and my time this year was 14 minutes faster than my time from last year.

All in all a good day despite the rain.

Not to worry. Our Suzy will "cry havoc" all over John when she's finished.  (even if she has to jump really high to stop the clock at the finish line.)

So I'm sitting here watching all the IM finishers and am thinking how can put this altogether to make it happen for me next year. I sooooooooooooo want to be an Ironman before I hit 60

Dumb question: On Suzy's status update it is showing her speed as 21:23 MPM ..  What is MPM???
