Who's strapping on a little jingle jangle and racing this weekend?  what's the plan?

If you're on the sidelines, tell us about the one tri gift you hope Santa throws your way!

No racing for me this weekend; although I am itching to improve upon last week's performance.  I'm hoping to get one of those hi-tech new-fangled Garmin watches so I no longer have to guesstimate my run distances.

tricrazy - 2011-12-06 12:51 PM Has anyone ever joined a beer of the month club?  If so, did you like it?  Which one?  I was thinking of giving this to my husband for a Christmas gift but there are many to choose from.

i did.  but i drank the twelve pack in like an hour do i had to wait another 30 days for more.  it really sucked.  just kidding.  the next day i went to the store and bought more beer.

some clowns got me a subscription from this joint.  i guess they figured 15:29 was worth it.  suckers!  as a gift i'd recommend them.

however, for your hubby who is right there with you...  if you have a really good packy near by then once a month go in there and pick some different beers for him.  i seem to recall frougal mcdougal's had a good selection.  it was down by carowinds, not sure if you're on that side of town.   you don't need to know much about beer.  we'll help and so will the guy in the store.   here's a starter list for you for Christmas. most of these should be readily available.

  • Sierra and Dogfish Head, Life and Limb.  1 Bomber (750ml) This is my new favorite beer and top three all time.  These are two awesome brewery's, very cool they came together for this one.  Might be hard to find.  Dan, this is the one from turkey day. Search here.
  • New Belgium, Snow Day.  6 pack (I say this only because I'm drinking one now! its pretty darn good)
  • Dogfish Head, 120 if you can find it.  if not get a 4 pack of the 90. I know you can find this in most stores now but its still an awesome brew.
  • Sam Smith, Oatmeal Stout. (2 bombers or a four pack.. your choice) My favorite all time until Life and Limb showed up.
  • Fullers, London Pride.  Best beer in a can.  Comes in four packs.  Distribution is becoming more widespread so you should be able to find it.
  • Find a local beer.  Ask the guy/gal in the shop.  A couple of brewers to look for are natty greene's or highland brewery
  • Olde E 800.  get a 40!   and put a bow on it.  (and a few bows for somewhere else after he drinks a few... ;-))

Done. easy huh?

I know Frugal McDougal but the likelyhood of me getting there every month is pretty slim.  I do like that list though.  I could get a few of those and wrap them to give him the subscription.  Thanks.

A friend turned me on to these beers!!! They are unreal!

tri gifts....  i'll second what julia said.  and if santa happens to run over my in-laws with his sleigh and then back over then for good measure with all the reindeer, i'm ok with that.

LMAO! Now this is funny. Does Jarrett know?

Another 10K for me. I hope to shake my JANGLE a little harder than last time.  I know I'm a pain wussy and have been told I can give more and that if I don't feel imminent death just before the end I'm not working hard enough.  Going at it totally blind, plan to push those last 3m much harder.  Would love to look at the data post race and see 46:00.

You all are cracking me up.  Luckily we don't have any in-law problems.

no running this weekend for anyone.  Woo Hoo - just a few birthday parties and a wrestling meet.  But it should be a pretty low key weekend - thank goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And no tri gifts that I can think of - I've more than I need at the moment so I'm pretty content.  :-)

Good luck to the racers!

No racing for me. We're driving back to Portland tomorrow, after just making the 6 hour drive from there yesterday (really should have planned it better). This time it's for an interview for Gary... for a promotion that would mean we wouldn't have to be on constant travel and living in an RV. Hoping it works out, because it would be so nice to have a "home" again.

Does hoping Santa brings a little motivation count as a gift?

'Cause I'd like some.

Seriously, need to get done this basement and get some mojo going again!

The break has probably been good for me physically, but I need to get the "fire" burning again.

Wow.

I am absolutely stunned that there has not been a single "strap-on" joke all day. What, is everyone posting with children present??

No, I'm not strapping on anything this weekend. Not racing either. Attending a few parties, so I may TIE one on, but I'm pretty much of a two-drinks-puts-me-on-my-arse loser, so take that for what you will.

Doubt I'll get any tri gifts this year. I dropped a hint (unintentionally) that my warmer running shirts are about 8-10 years old and showing their age, but they still work fine so it's all good.

And I love my in-laws. Well, only one parent-in-law anymore (sniff sniff), but she's pretty awesome!!

No racing.  Lots of partying.  Starting tonight with my Wednesday Women IM celebration!  I can't wait - it's ME wearing the medal and tiara this time!

I don't think i'm getting any tri stuff, but ya never know.  I did get hubby a IMAZ bike vest, so WTC will be represented under the tree!

Starting to plan for next year......looking at REV3 Portland (HIM), Expeditionman (HIM), Pacific Grove (Oly), and Boston(M!!!).  Jeff may do Wildflower, I'd sherpa as it's 12 days post-Boston.  Learned from THAT mistake.

Jeff's thinking...just a bit....about adding IMSG into next year.  He's in great shape now, it's not closed, and it would be a challenge.  Apparently AZ wasn't so much!! Wink  He's traveling lots for work, so he's not sure if he can make it work.  I would SHERPA for that, too.  No way would I do SG.

Thx Suz. I actually had thought about "strapping on" but decided against it today at work. Was grumpy at work today, so I probably would have posted something stupid.

No racing for me, however, I am really hoping Santa brings me a new speedo ...... considering emulating Faris and tri racing "Retro" next year!  Laughing

Also, I just signed my rider contract for Team Wisconsin for next year which means on top of everything else, I just committed to riding in my 1st 10 day stage race in 2012.  Should be interesting?

Good luck to all the racers this weekend ....REPRESENT!!!!

When someone figures out how to survive without having a "job" please let me in on your secret.

No racing this weekend.  I'm hoping to play Santa and hook myself up with a used trainer.

P.S. Is it wrong that I kinda like the unshaven Faris look? Wink

I was doing my swim workout today and my coach happened to be at the pool giving a lesson to someone else. WHen He was done he watched me swim a little and then decided to film and time me doing 50 yds. Bearing in mind that my fastest 100 yd. pool swim is 1:33, I swam 50 yds. in 33seconds! Who hoo!!!!! (And I could have done better). All these yards are paying off in time.

P.S. The tri-suit company is Epix Gear.
