I am so addicted to amazon. I think I get a package at least 4 days per week. I've got to stop!!

Amazon's one touch ordering is a dangerous thing.

Especially when you have 3 cats that like to play on your ipad! Seriously, there have been some close calls

That's as bad as my toddler.  E stole my Kindle Fire.  She's almost bought apps a few times.  Fortunately, I turned off one click ordering on the Kindle.

Wow, that is funny and scary at the same time.  She has no clue she is ordering....she's just seeing the colors and presses things cause they pop up.  I couldn't imagine getting a bill for even a small item and realizing that my toddler "ordered" it

It's near that time of year again--time to make a costume for Wild Affair at the zoo as well as Halloween---Here's a sneak peak of what I will be making this year:

I have always been a fan of the Cheshire Cat--My suit will have a tail that will move in very catlike fashion, and I will be able to lift up my "eyebrows and ears" like lifting a hat--as he does in the movie. Then I just have to figure out how I can make the eyes look from side to side...I love making costumes--pics  will come as I make it.

Hi, just checking in. Janyne posted a question on my inspire yesterday, I thought I would post it here along with my reply to keep people in the loop about what I'm up to. Replying to a message by jmkizer on 2013-08-20
I hope that all is well in your neck of the woods! I think that you mentioned that you had a mechanical during long course weekend and I notice that you have not been on your bike much since then. Is the bike kaput or are you just not getting along with it right now? Are you still doing the Oly in a few weeks?Have a great week!
Hi, all good here, just trying to get my head around what I want to get out of doing tri's, and where I want to be in 2-3 years from now. I am still doing the Oly, but not too worried about it because I'm not going to race it, but am using it as a training day. My main focus has been running, as you probably guessed, because I have a little ultra race coming up in September. The mechanical on the long weekend was my gear shifter coming off in my hand as I was climbing a steep long hill, but I fixed that on course, which probably cost me missing the cut off. I'm looking at entering a half IM for later next year, so will be shifting focus to biking then, once I get my run speed up. I'm really struggling to fit in training with 70 hour working weeks over 5 days, and its been even harder the past 5 weeks with my daughter off school. I have tried to see if I can remain consistent over the past 4 weeks to see how many hours I could realistically manage. Another factor, I am starting up my studies for my degree again soon, which is going to be another drain on available time, so I'm not looking forward to that. In other news, when I bought new shoes the other day, I got the go ahead to buy DW new shoes too, and she has agreed to a run/walk program as soon as the kids are back to school. I don't mind you posting these little questions on the forum, at least it might make me interact with the forum more. All the best Darren. Thanks for all who give inspires, I read them all and take on board what is written, even if I mostly don't reply, sorry. On that note, if anyone has any questions for me about what I'm up to, feel free to post them on here, I'm ALWAYS lurking. Much more than I should be. Cheers, and toodlepips

Darren, thanks for posting this in the forum.  I do wonder about the members we don't hear from that often, so updates are cool :)  And, btw, I suck with inspries--I have it as a goal to get better because I truly do love getting them too :)

As always, I'm so impressed you could fix a bike thing like that on course.  Awesome!

What ultra race are you doing?  Have you done an ultra before?

I'm in a run focus right now too, but for a marathon. I'm just in awe of you people who take on ultras:)

After doing a marathon drunk in street clothes, I think Dazzers is very well prepared to take on an ultra

Gee, you're not busy at all (comment is dripping with sarcasm)!  Very cool on your wife wanting to be more active and good on you for supporting her.  An ultra?  (gulp) You are one impressive dude!

Soooo ... Manatees always get first crack (the good kind!) ... anybody want to be a virtual pacer for one of my IMJ legs?

I'm taking two pacers for each km of the swim, one for each 10km of the bike, two for each 5km of the run.

The challenge should you choose to accept is to virtually race with me and cheer me on, and in turn I shall be thinking of you beside me, speaking with you and praying for you during that part of the race.

You don't have to be awake--you can send in advance or hell even after if you forget--Spirit knows no bounds of time or place.

THANK YOU!!!!

im in Yanti! How about the first 10km of the bike? I would offer to do the swim but the pool I go to is closed on Saturdays so I can't swim with you.

What time (in Japan) do you start and what sort of time do you expect on the swim, so I know about what time to start invade the live tracking doesn't work to well.

By the way I don't think that you have yet shared your race number with us.

This morning I managed to spend 2 hours at the vet because Bruce (my stupid dumb dog) likes to eat rocks and he ended up with one stuck about 2" from the end of his bowel. Thankfully the vet managed to get it out without having to resort to surgery (actually without even sedating him). It turned out that the rock was a bit over 1" in diameter, FACHMIE!!! It was definitely not a pretty way to start the day!

I really don't know how those of you who work in medical fields, be it animal or human, cope with that sort of shyte every.

But no-one we have spoken with can give us a definitive reason as to why some dogs eat rocks. There are 3 theories so far 1) they are bored; 2) they are deficient in some kind of mineral but no-one can say what; or 3) they just like the taste of them.

THANK YOU TOO Goody and Stace Face!

Bib is Lucky Number #1550

I expect to be on the bike roundabout 8am (Japan Sapporo time, that's UTC +9) so for you Stace Face that's 7am. Surprised Crack of stupid time!

The swim is going to be a shyte show. It's a two-loop course, sharp triangular turns, 9 waves. All the women got dumped in the last wave, so it's going to be a pummel-swim-over-everyone fest both loops for me.

Yikes! Glad all is okay.

I trained a rock-eating pitbull named Annabelle once.

From what I understand it is more common in strong-jawed large breeds as well.

Originally posted by StaceyKThis morning I managed to spend 2 hours at the vet because Bruce (my stupid dumb dog) likes to eat rocks and he ended up with one stuck about 2" from the end of his bowel. Thankfully the vet managed to get it out without having to resort to surgery (actually without even sedating him). It turned out that the rock was a bit over 1" in diameter, FACHMIE!!! It was definitely not a pretty way to start the day!I really don't know how those of you who work in medical fields, be it animal or human, cope with that sort of shyte every. But no-one we have spoken with can give us a definitive reason as to why some dogs eat rocks. There are 3 theories so far 1) they are bored; 2) they are deficient in some kind of mineral but no-one can say what; or 3) they just like the taste of them.
4th reason- they're big dopes!Glad it work out. There was a Golden Retriever over here who recently made the news for eating 16 river rocks. He needed surgery and I believe the reason he ate them was he is a big dope

Will you be swimming in the radiation water?!

Nah. Snow-fed mountain lake--conditions very similar to Taupo IMNZ.
