I found this gem of 4 YouTube Videos.
It is a comprehensive history of everything that has occured in the show Prior to episode 1.

It is narrated by the actors in the show.

It helps us non-readers get an appreciation for the historical events, perspectives, grudges, etc. that may only be alluded to briefly in the show.

My wife missed the "bombshell" reveal from the last episode...  I had to repeat it for her to catch it.I think she still has a hard time keeping everyone in order.  I have the luxury of watching the seasons twice AND reading the books (not up to speed vs the show though)...

All this time we thought the Lanistars killed the former Hand of the King (John)...  It made me chuckle to see Robin chuck the new gift through mood doors - The wife and I had to replay that little bratty scene...

I read that the HBO Showrunners have said to George Martin, the author of the books, that they will no longer agree to remain entirely faithful to his story. For one thing, the actors are real people, and so they may age and otherwise change faster than they can film the episodes. For another thing, Martin is painfully slow at completing these later books, and there's a good chance that the show will eventually catch up to the books and the next book won't be ready in time for the next season to start. For that reason, they've said that while they'll try to stick to the story as best they can, there will definitely be an ever-increasing number of departures from the text.

Looks like 8 books. If its a season a book that is 8 seasons. I like the show but I can not see it going much beyond 8.

There are only 5 books in the series right now. And we are waiting on #6.

Here's a good recap of the last episode and it also says and did and did not happen in the books.

That scene was funny. She makes this impassioned speech to the troops, "They tortured your prince!! They skinned your countrymen alive!!" and then Ramsey Snow jingles a set of keys at them and they run away, leaving Theon behind? Yes, I know the dogs are scary, but are they scarier than the dozens of soldiers they had already fought their way through? Weak...

I can't belive I have to wait two weeks for the Trial By Combat. That's going to be awesome. (Btw, you can find a link online of the actor playing The Mountain dressed as The Hulk, tossing a washing machine about 30 feet. It's pretty cool.)

Have two people ever taken as long to get anywhere as Arya and the Hound? Danerys has circled Slaver's Bay, conquering whole cites as she goes, Theon's sister has sailed to try to save him, Sansa has fled from King's Landing to the Aerie (which is apparently far enough away that it's winter there), the Mountain has ridden all the way back from wherever he was busy raping and pillaging, Jon Snow and the Rangers have gone to Craster's Keep and back, and Arya and the Hound are still miles from anywhere.

Every time I start to root for Jaimie Lannister, I'm reminded that he's a guy who pushed a ten-year old kid out a tower window.

The great thing about Game of Thrones is that anyone, at any time, can go sailing through the Moon Door. As soon as he made her smile, I knew she was going through the hole, but I didn't see it coming until the second before it happened.

LOL, that's a great point with Sansa and the Hound.  They do seem to be taking quite a while.

My favorite story line of last season was the Jon Snow/Ygritte love story, but they seem to be taking their time on that one.  Please don't whack Ygritte, she's my fav.

I absolutely love the story line with Tyrion this year.  He's developed into my favorite character on the show.

I agree with you on Jamie, he is developing into a very likable character, but has a lot of past sins to atone for in my eyes.  It seems as though his time with Brienne has really changed him.  Losing his hand has also given him a dose of humble pie.  I'm genuinely curious how far he'll go.

Nah, I saw that coming the instant Littlefinger interrupted the "conversation".  I was thinking, he's going to sooth her feelings then chuck her down the hole.  I would have been shocked if he didn't.

I know this is coming from an engineer, but I have a hard time figuring out how they have an entire courtroom of stone building over air.  I suppose it cold be cantilevered over the edge, but probably it bridges a canyon - HOWEVER, you don't see any canyon walls when looking down.  Great for TV, but not sure it could be built like that.

I had a strange uneasiness about the story line - even if I like it.  I think it's just that - it's taking WAY too long.  They have been trying to get the Irie since the Red Wedding...  Sansa, made it in a day!  Granted, had a boat.  Looks like Podrick and the knight-ess are already almost caught up.

I like to see the softness of the Hound this last episode.  It's cool to see an actor switch it up and have it believable.

I know people come and go, but honestly, it irks me that the Mountain and Dinarys main guy (she just shagged) are different actors.  I'm curious, what would the original actors have better to do than be in the biggest series made from some of the biggest books out there?  I'm sure Hollywood blockbusters are not knocking at their door.  On the flip side, keeping so many different cast member constant to keep continuity can't be easy...

OK, that makes sense now.  I was watching the last episode and trying to figure out where that guy came from.  I remembered the blond dude killing his buddies to win her affection, but hadn't seen him in a while.  Now it all makes sense.  haha
The old actor probably was told that it wouldn't be a nude scene with Dinarys, so he bounced.  ;-)

The Mountain was replace twice.  The picture below is from Season 1 to 2 (I think) and the bottom picture is the NEW Mountain.  I guess I don't like change, so the original (that cut off the horse's head after losing the joust) was my favorite.  Just seemed grittier/dirtier...

You DID read the books... right? There is something like a 800 page book where Arya and the Hound just travel... along with other characters that just travel. One book is just ALL TRAVEL. It was ridiculous!

I read books 1-3, and 5 combined in the time it took me to trudge through A Feast for Crows. Sand Snakes and Mrycella in the desert and Sam and Gilly sick on a boat and who all knows what else. Brutal.

I'm reading them.  Mostly trying to keep up just to get more details...  But falling behind a bit.

Reminds me of the Gunslinger Series by Stephen King - there is one book in the series that's just a giant 800 page flashback.  That takes some time to get through when all you want is a continuation of the main story line.  When they were coming out every several years?  It was heart breaking to wait 5 years for a continuation, then to have it be a giant prequel/flashback then wait years longer for the story to start again.

The actor that plays Tommen is a replacement as well.

I think both of the two previous actors looked more like they could have been The Hound's brother than the new one does. I know that The Mountain has to be this terrifying, larger-than-life figure, but I think the new guy, as awesome a physical specimen as he is, seems almost cartoonish. Hopefully, we'll only have to worry about it for one more episode.

I assume he will...

If I recall, she needed to show the coin and say the words, and he would come/be there.

However, I forget the rules.  Did it just happen or did she need to do that to someone from Bravos?  Because she has been in a couple pretty big predicaments where she could use some help (Red Wedding) and she felt like she should "reserve" that Get Out of Jail Free card?

I have like her and Daenerys but both are turning a little dark.  Daenerys backed off her execution order, which was a relief and Arya has been on a mini killing spree...

As the fog cleared, the buoy that I first saw earlier in the morning was just the first marker in a very long line of buoys that stretched across the lake like a runway for a 747 jetliner.
