State is required, but only those in MX are present. Thx for your help. snausa - 2008-08-06 2:57 PM Done! ![]() Congratulations ! Dear Chris you have succesfully registered for the event Ironman Cozumel 2009 Gender Male Category E Male 35 a 39 years non-mexican citizen Number 208 I accept the charge of $5250.00 Mexican Pesos or equivalent in my bank's currency and oblige myself to pay this to the credit card's emissor according to the contract I have accepted with said institution [my bank]. I fully accept the charge done on the account associated with this credit card. I also accept the terms and coditions of the AsEnter registration system. After seeing several already registered at SlowTwitch, I emailed the IM Cozumel site. They said to select "otro" (which means other). I also confirmed that it was the same for IM Cancun 70.3. |

I am in after much support from my Hubby. I am registered #280! I will be 40 for 2 weeks when the race occurs, but online the system didn't age me up - it lists me in the 35-39 AG. Guess I will have to email the RD and get older! Andi |

I swam in Cozumel just a couple of months ago and noticed current pushing north along the shore (or from left to right). If that is the case on race day, it will be slow on the way out and fast on the way back in. |

If that is the case on race day, it will be slow on the way out and fast on the way back in.It's Coz. Could be current, could be no current. Impossible to predict what the currents will be tomorrow, much less 11/09. Generally, currents are weaker in the southern sites like Chankanaab than the northern sites (i.e., Barracuda, currents so strong dive ops generally won't take you there unless you are truly advanced). If there is current, AFAIK it runs north like snausa mentioned |

![]() I will see how Cancun 70.3 goes at the end of September... but its a possibility for next year. Well, as long as my cabana boy goes too. ![]() |

Can we make it so that no current going out and strong current on the way Back? And what do you mean "If I do the race" ? I thought this would be right up your alley. Better start looking for a private plane to haul all your scuba/photo/tri gear. It will be a lot cheaper than airline fees!

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm trying to convince my bf to do the race, but he's (unreasonably) petrified of sharks. Now, he surfed in San Diego for 3 years, so I know he can get over this fear- but for you divers that have been there, what's the water like? Will it be like swimming in La Jolla Cove, where you get to watch a school of fish travel beneath you while swimming? |

Only sharks I've ever seen in Coz are docile nurse sharks that lie on the bottom |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ya know...I absolutely love Mexico and would love to do this race. One big problem as I see it. Last year training for Clearwater the last two weeks were tough. Day Light Savings time kicks in and its dark later in the AM and dark earlier in the PM. Like 5PM pitch dark. Training in the NE is going to be a killer for this race. Good luck to all. I am not 100% out but it might turn into a last ditch effort for a race. |

Barracuda and sting rays are much more common. But nothing to worry about. I also second what he said about the water clarity. Visibility typically ranges from 80 - 120 feet ... and 200 ft visibility is not uncommon. |

They were hiding under rocks in probably 30 feet of water. He will be FINE. Not to mention the water is so clear you can see down MANY feet (good 20 feet). If something is coming you will see it. Just tell him to swim faster than the slowest person. Problem solved. ![]() |

Sept and Oct are fine, but once Nov hits, it's tough. The only counterpoint is that at least you're tapering for a good chunk of that time, so it's a lot less training time. Still something to consider.... |

Not sure that tri bike transport will drive to Mexico! But it would be nice if they did! |

Not sure that tri bike transport will drive to Mexico! But it would be nice if they did! Another option will probably be to ship it to a local bike shop. I would choose this as I don't trust the airlines with my bike for anything! Then again... UPS just lost a bike I sold on ebay and shipped to the buyer. And they are dragging their feet paying me for the bike, which was insured. Hmmm. Maybe I'll use Fed Ex! Andi Edited by Anditrigirl 2008-08-10 8:43 AM |
