I live in Denver and won't leave Colorado for anything.  Except if things work out, I may have the chance to live in Brisbane, Australia for a year.

If we're being practical then Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA. If were not being practical, Rio De Jeneiro.

It's all about the ocean for me.

I love this thread...I haven't been to a lot of cities, so I'm looking forward to testing some of these out!

I do remember when I was in high school and visiting my friend who was at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO thinking, I could truly live here.  I haven't been back since, but that thought never escaped.  100 degrees dry heat in the summer, then it dropped to 80 degrees post the 3:00 pm rain...and nice people, clean.

But my other favorites are Pittsburgh (my family is from there, and I spent much of my childhood there. Nicest people in the world, compared to DC especially), Tampa area ( specifically St. Pete, Clearwater, Sarasota), and I really loved San Antonio and Dallas/Ft. Worth. But I'm sure thats b/c I'm a horse girl, and grew up loving the tv show Dallas.

I don’t think I’d be happy unless I was in a large city and there’s no big city that offers what NYC does. The daily inconveniences of living here (lots of people, stuff is expensive, smaller living quarters) are a small price to pay for the opportunities that the city provides for me and the family.

In a perfect world, I’d like to live somewhere a little warmer, because I like the cold less and less as I get older, but I can’t think of anyplace I’d give up NYC for.

Anywhere but FL.  Seriously, lived in this state for a long time.  I'm on the verge of hating it.

My short list:

Boulder, CO

Ft Collins, CO

Salt Lake City, CO

Asheville, NC

I just moved to Longmont, CO, from Denver, and I love it here. Close to Boulder, but without the high cost of living, less than 45 minutes from Estes Park and RMNP...

I love it here, and like many others, won't be leaving for anything...

But, for sake of discussion, here's my top 5

1. Longmont/Boulder

2. Madison, WI

3. NorCal

4. Portland, OR

5. Phoenix, AZ

OK you guys are NOT helping.  Have been day dreaming about selling my company and moving to the greater Boulder area for a year or so now.  It's funny to see Colorado is a reoccurring theme in a good majority of these posts.

I'd move back to Asheville.

I should add that Scottsdale isn't so bad either but I still miss trees and water.

I know... SLC is SO much like the Front Range, you almost feel like you're in Colorado... minus the pricey house notes, traffic, and long commutes to the ski resorts.  Though sometimes I think the better beer might be worth it... nah, that's what trips to Grand Junction are for
FYI... last spring I looked at what I could afford if I sold my house in SLC and moved to the Front Range.  I would be going from a 4bd 2 3/4 bath to a 2bd 2bath OLD home on concrete slab in middle of no-where (might as well move to Ft Lupton )  Of course now I'm looking at a job in El Jebel (we might end up living in a trailer park in Carbondale!  brrr!!!)

As far as living in the states, I am living where I would want to live, Tucson.  I moved here from Portland, OR, which was really nice as well.  If I could get Tucson weather in Portland I'd have stayed there.  But, if I moved back home I would go back to Halifax, NS in a heart beat.

Oops I just noticed I typed Salt Lake City, CO... duh...

It's just beautiful out there.  I think the issue I'm having with FL is that there is nothing on the horizon.  Just miles and miles of flat.  I like looking at something in the distance.

How could you NOT love this...

I really should stop.  We have enough population growth as it is.  But I can't help it.  Although I did not dig an 88 degree late September run yesterday afternoon.  Can we please get fall already?

+1 on quit complaining :D .  Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 96 here.  First real, full day of fall?  It was 98.

I can't wait for it to start raining again - we did have a sprinkle last weekend for the first time since April...

I don't live in Florida or California for a reason.  All I want is seasonal weather.

Somewhere around Huntsville, AL. Throw a rock and hit TN. Own the side of a hill there.

That's my retirement plan

Colorado (Colorado Springs is all I know) or Northern California (Bay Area or Sacramento).  somewhere where i could get to the mountains fast (and prefereably the ocean pretty quickly too).  Portland Oregon would be nice.

I lived in Spain for 23 years, move to the States 11 years ago. I lived in Maryland, Delaware, and in New Mexico so far, if I have to pick up a place I will go with Annapolis, Maryland, I just love that place.

Nice to see the hometown get a couple shout outs (SLC, UT)

But my wife and I are trying to find a job or a way to move to St George, UT. Just big enough of a city that you don't feel like you're in boonyville USA, and great climate with hot summers and mild winters, though not as extreme as Vegas or Phoenix. And it has an IM race already and a killer marathon too.

And it's breathtaking:

I have lived most of my life in Minneapolis Minnesota and it is a great place!

I have also lived in:

- Grand Forks ND

-a couple of months in Texas here and there

-Spokane WA

-Okinawa Japan.

My short list of future homes would be

-Vancouver, BC

-Seattle, WA

-Portland, OR

-CO Springs, CO

However, as much as I enjoy the US I really like not being in the US... so that is actually probably what I will do next.
