Pain in my ankles is something I've been dealing with for a few years. It comes and goes and in the past I've run through it and it didn't ever really stop me from running. Prior to my recent glut of injuries I had a period of a year or so where my ankles felt great. Hopefully I'll get back to that place.
Don

I hope so too Don! I hired Mark Allen to coach me to a successful IMAZ (my first 2 tries at this race were icky days). The program he had me on was very challenging, so challenging it put me on the injury list, hehehe. I had weak left glut and hamstring. My insufficient ST became apparent. It's 8 weeks to race day so I hope I still have enough time to get some decent fitness in to race strong.

I've been in PT for 2 weeks now and I'm on the mend and back to running and biking painfree.

How's everyone doing?
I'm feeling pretty good these days. I saw my orthopedic surgeon a couple of weeks ago and he says I'm recovered enough (from 8 broken ribs and a broken collarbone from a bike accident on June 28) that there is no longer any need to restrict my activities.

I'm running again but being careful to take it easy on my knee (torn meniscus in February).

My left ankles is not bothering me at all (nagging long term problem that comes and goes).

Now that the restrictions are off I've been doing some rock climbing with my wife and kids. This can get pretty strenuous so I believe it's a good test of my recovery and I feel like I'm very close to being able to do what I was doing before my bike accident.

Cheers
Don

Well, as per usual August/September derailed me...  Shingles and a cold end of August, work ramps up in September and I started a distance ed Bachelor program in September as well.  Training has fallen off as something had to give.  I did run a 30km trail run today, woefully undertrained .  Hopefully will be able to use that to re-jumpstart....once I am recovered!  Keep running everyone.

Glad to hear you're doing much better Don!

As for me, I'm in the biggest volume weeks for Ironman Arizona training. Last week was a huge week for running (got a bit over 43 miles) and this week is big bike week. Next week will be big swim but man, I'm so happy I'm off the injury list and can do all this stuff pain free.

My right shoulder is a bit sore from a pretty long swim last night but other than that, doing pretty well!

I have IM Florida next Saturday, so happy I haven't hurt anything and haven't any issues leading into it.

Good luck in PCB. I did IMFL the last couple of years and there's a lot to like about the course/support/etc. Have a great day!

How'd the race go???

The race was fun. I made a critical mistake on the bike which changed my goal to finish. I drank OJ from my special needs bag and that made the second half of my ride special (not in a good way). I would do Florida again. Here's the link to my report https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid...

Getting close to the year's end guys!

I'm currently at 980 running miles for the year. I think I'm gonna hit 1000 just before or at Ironman Arizona happening on November 24th!

Just stumbled on this thread.

Currently sitting at 830 miles running on the year, so i feel pretty good about hitting 1000. I've switched to a run focus to finish out the year with a few road races this fall/winter and into next spring.

Hit 3000 miles on the bike this year, so this will be my biggest year as far as run/bike volume.

Gotta work on swim volume though: 7.5 miles for the year with 2.4 of those from the two 70.3 races i competed in.

Welcome to the group!
Swim is the necessary evil of this sport. I'm pretty sure I love to hate to swim.
