UPDATE FROM OCKY 09:46
Hey All,
Stacie is holdong steady this morning. The radiologist is pretty happy with the results this morning. The CAT scan looked good, but they want to do a more conclusive MRI sometime today. I should have another update after around 1500 today.
The pain is pretty intense this morning. For all intensive purposes, this is to be expected. When I talked to her, she sounded pretty "Happy". When the heavy stuff wears off, it can get kinda tough.
For now, she will remain in CCU through the weekend. Given the procedue, the family is asking to turn off ths visitors until Sunday. This way, Stacie can have less stimulation
(easy Welshy...compose thineself...
) and allow the body to relax and do some healing on it's own.
From the family... thanks so much for all of the love and prayers. Please keep them coming.
From me:
IT is amazing how great the world of endurance athletes can be. In the next few weeks of racing... when we are suffering on the course... here's some more motivation...
When we race, we do it because we love it. Don't get me wrong, there are definitelly times when we ask ourselves why in the world are we doing this. I think I read it somewhere in one of Lance's books... but... When we race, we choose to suffer, we choose to hurt. There ae thousands/millions of people that do not get the chance to choose. They get up, they feel pain, they feel sick, but they choose to fight!
So for me next weekend at XTERRA, my race is for my friend Chuck B, who fought the biggest fight, and in the end, finished his last race as a champion, and looks down on me/us, and keeps us safe every day.
My race is for Stacie. She didn't ask for this, and had no idea that this was possible. Stacie is stairing at fear, and pain, and pushing through like a champion, and soon to be an Ironman. So when I'm hurting next weekend
(and I know I will
) I can think of Chuck and Stacie, absorb that pain and approach it with the same conviction and fight.
Be safe, ride your ride, race your race, and have some fun.
