Dude could have won gold, no? He kept looking over his shoulder. I was actually yelling at the TV, "Don't look behind you, focus on the finish line!"

2 Americans crash out on the moguls (no injuries or anything, just bruised egos).

Canadian wins gold.  Good job.

I'm looking forward to downhill today.  The track is 3.1km in length with a 1km elevation drop all finished in 2 minutes and change.  Now that takes some balls to compete in.

Short track was KICK ARSE!  Can't believe the Koreans took themselves out...

Does anyone else hold their breath when the shoot during the biathlon?  I find my self on the edge of the couch and just gasp at every miss.  Then when they miss twice or three times?  I'm shocked...  And I don't even KNOW the sport!

Luge is insanely cool.  I would love to see first hand someone doing 90 mph.  I had a thought they should make a "ride" to let people experience it.  It could be on a track so you don't crash and be strapped in.  But you would be laying down and doing 90.  I would be in line to do it...

I forgot that Nordic combined even existed since the last Olympics.  That was a GREAT race to watch.  Tough to see the American lose the gold, but great they got their first medal.

Look for gold during the team event.  We seem to have a STRONG team.

Can't wait for the downhill, Super G, giant slolam, etc...

I do chuckle at some of the color commentary of the discipline experts for each event.  They like to slant it to their sport and make it sound SO challenging or dangerous...  Which is to be expected!  Eveyone surely likes to talk their event up as being the hardest...

FOR EXAMPLE.  I have heard 2 or 3 times from the expert Ski jumper, that if the athletes should land on the "flatter" part of the hill, it's like landing on the sidewalk from a 14 story building...

Er, something tells me that might me a slight exageration!  Since you would most certainly DIE if you jumped from a 14 story building and land on the side walk, and many of the flyers or landing pretty close to the flatter section of the hill, you are telling me that if one should happen to uncork a 110 meter jump (when everyone else is around 100-105, that they would DIE?????????  Since they just jumped from a 14 story building onto a sidewalk, and all...

Vancouver is an awesome city to live in right now. I'm volunteering at the Richmond Olympic Oval, so I've got to see the men's 5000m and women's 3000m speed skating events from the infield. I love speed skating!

Friday night, I was standing outside of a pub, watching the opening ceremonies on a big screen above the bar (I went to the dress rehearsal on Wednesday night) and Gretzky get's the the torch. Then people start pointing a block away and there goes Gretzky with the torch. It was like he popped out of the TV.

Friday night we went to a couple of pubs, and walked down Granville and Robson and just checked out the crowds and got into the spirit. I've heard a lot of spontaneous singing of the Canadian national anthem. It's great. Someone starts singing and pretty soon everyone joins in.

Saturday, a friend cooked dinner and we watched the coverage on TV.

From about 4:30 - 10:30pm yesterday, I checked out the Bell Ice Cube, the Alberta pavilion, the Canada pavilion, and Robson Square. I also watched the men's moguls live at a pub. It was so fun to hear the cheering Canadians. The Bell Ice Cube had a great concert and Robson Square has great fireworks, and pyrotechnics. Vancouver is definitely the place to be right now.

Day 4 today. I'm working during the day and then off to Granville Island tonight!

There used to be a bobsled ride at Great Adventure (New Jersey).  I remember riding it when I was a kid.  It isn't there any more, though.  It didn't go as fast as the actual bobsleds, but it was an interesting experience.

Unfortunately team GB has only got a few athletes involved and only one of them is a medal hope but I still love the games.  Normally through the course of an event I find someone to support and start rooting for them.

I was devasted for the Korean who was taken out by his own team member the other day - I don't know the context of the individual involved or his history, future chances of getting a medal but he had a silver medal in his hand and to have it taken away from you like that must make you die a bit inside - horrible.

The mogul ski-ing is NUTS!  Surely that's a guaranteed cruciate ligament injury?!!  And if that's not risky enough, let's chuck a couple of jumps in and make them do somersaults!! Kerrazy.  Love it.

Yep,  you can't tell me for the REST OF HIS LIFE, he will look back at that and know how it was taken from him and feel bitter about it.  No matter  how many other medals he wins, he will still look back at how he was taked out of one more.

Oh, here's another little tidbit of what I've seen. There's a marching band, Kleintje Pils, that follows the Dutch speed skating team around. You may have seen them on TV.

Yesterday, the weather was beautiful and warm here in Vancouver. During the race yesterday, I walked outside to see all of the band members sitting in the sun, half of them with their shirts off suntanning. How's that for winter Olympics?

I do marvel at humanity in general when I watch some of the Olympic events...

What do I mean by that?

I mean, traveling up to 60 mph down a mountain in snow and 20-30 foot jumps does not sound like a safe thing to do.  BUT, strap a couple of boards to your feet and a couple sticks in you hands?  Suddenly, no problem....

Who comes UP with some of these things!!!  Goes to show you, there has been adreniline junkies since the beginning of time!

OK, answer me this.

Who on EARTH wants to be a mogul skier?  I love to ski the bumps, and I would love to do the tricks.  But it seems like ALL of them have had blown knees with multiple knee surgeries and replacements...

Rough sport, no?

I'm a little sad they modified the Luge start.  I feel like it hurt some of the athletes.  AND they were still hitting 90mph.  Maybe the wall and curve mods would have been enough.  Should have left the start where it was, IMO.
