Sure you can borrow it.  I basically cutted and pasted things I liked together until I was happy with the outcome.  I'm happy with it because it basically says everything I wanted.

That is a SWEET TATTOO!!

Is it a "requirement" to have one after you complete an IM?  I think that whoever does complete an IM and gets a tat, well, that's your skin - enjoy it.  I don't feel that I need to mark up my body to note the accomplishment.  My own opinion.

Here are a couple of thoughts for a HIM tattoo.

I'm thinking either the first or the thrid. I'm not sure which one I would prefer. I'm not doing a sactioned event until 2009. I'm doing the distance in June of 08 but will probably wait until I do an actual IM event before getting a tattoo. Of course my better half "River Runner" will have an opinoin I'll consider.

Is it a "requirement" to have one after you complete an IM?

Actually it is a requirement stated in the waiver you sign.  You agree to brand yourself with the IM logo to promote the event for an eternity.  Did you miss that clause in the waiver?

Anyone have a picture of a similar design (american flag in the background), by chance? That sounds awesome.

After finishing IMKY next year I will likely get one; much to my wife's dismay. Maybe I'll use the argument posed earlier on this thread..."you weren't w/ me on my long rides & runs in the rain & July heat babe." It's mine. It will be my second tat. My first was in England when I was 19. I asked the guy if it would hurt. He said "it'll feel like hanging from the yardarms by your testicles." This as I looked over at my buddy with his head between his knees because he passes out by the sight of blood; especially his own. That was pretty funny.

This doesn't have an American flag in the background but it is cool none the less.

If I was to get an ironman tat it would be the Mdot inside the maple leaf as only IMC would get me a tatoo.  I'm planning on racing IMC in 2012

My new ink. A subtle tribute to my femurs. The dot IS round, just hard to get a perfect pic. Lower left fore arm. I have a lot of ink so this is a really nice addition

That is both gross (the concept of the skin ripping open and the M coming out that is) and so cool at the same time.
