Sadly I don't and I only did one triathlon last year.  However, I am always training run/bike/swim unless I am injured.  It's been part of my life for so long I can't imagine not doing S/B/R.  Racing I still enjoy but I find it's much easier to schedule workouts around family time than it is to schedule races.

I do have other interests, cooking, beer brewing, skiing, hiking, fishing, etc but I don't spend anywhere close to as much time with doing these things as I do triathlon.

Crochet.  I love to make little things like dishcloths and towel toppers.  Socks occasionally.  I have a sweater I've been working on for years - I just don't like making the bigger items as much.

Sewing.  I like to make pants for my kids.  Fleece, denim, whatever.  They love them so I keep making them, and they are so easy to do.  I've made my husband a number of scrub hats.  I made shirts for my bowling team once, that was a huge PITA.

Bowling.  I average about 170-180.  It's fun to bowl in a league.  We get a babysitter and it's date night for me and my husband.

Riding my motorcycle.  I don't get to do this as often as I want, but I LOVE to go on rides through the mountains.  I have a 2006 Triumph Bonneville.  My longest ride was a little over 1000 miles from SLC, UT to SE British Columbia.  Took three days to get there and it was AMAZING!!!

I ride horses (hunter-jumper). It definitely takes more time and money than the tri habbit. I consider tri's a hobbie and horses a passion.

Golf will always take precedent over all my other hobbies and interests. Some others that are the close to or equal to commitment to Tri's are Snowboarding, bowling, camping, fishing, and hiking.

Um, yeah...a few.

The biggest one and the one that most often interferes with my tri plans is our 'farm'.  We have a tiny sustainable farm where we keep dairy goats, chickens, ducks, bees, an orchard, and a couple of large gardens.  Planting and harvest coincide with my heavy travel season at work, so tri takes a backseat in the spring and fall.  I love me some Nigerian Dwarf goats though!  It's a good thing because both my husband and I have full time careers, so it's a real challenge sometimes.

We also have 3 dogs and a cat to care for.

Additionally, tri also has to balance with outdoor activities all summer long (backpacking, hiking, camping, bike touring, climbing, kayaking, etc).

We own an older house that is constantly in need of fixing and we do most of that ourselves.

And then there is the '72 super beetle in the garage desperately awaiting a rebuild.  Oh, and an old mixte lugged frame bike that I still need to put back together...

I've given up photography, rugby, beading, blogging and most reading (except when on travel) to make time for the rest of my life.  It's a damn good thing we never had kids...who has that kind of time?!

Subject: RE: Geocaching???

I was introduced to geocaching this summer and haven't looked back!  It really is not "bigger" but more of a "combination" with triathlon!  But then again, it is "big" in that it is not in just one area but all over the world.

It is basically using a handheld GPS device to find hidden treasure (cache).  Go to geocaching dot com.  Put your address in the box.  All of those green things are caches around you!  Click on them and they explain the cache and give directions to it.

I now cache where ever I travel!  (I wish I had know about this when I was running a marathon in 50 states.)

I am running Disney in a couple of weeks.  Disney does not allow caches in the park but there are some "virtual caches" in each area!  It is so much fun!

Well - as you can see by my handle - I like to Golf - although, it has taken a bit of a back seat with the tri-training but I know I can always get back to that sweet addiction.

With a nickname like "gearboy", I have a lot of interests/hobbies. It's hard for me to say one is "bigger" than another because I tend to spend more time with some than others some years, then change things up. So it really depends on the year that you ask.

But in no particular order, my garage has my gear for kayaking (white water at a low level, touring more frequently), rock climbing, backpacking, orienteering, SCUBA diving, mountain biking, snowshoeing; I used to go downhill skiing until I tore my ACL. I also am a pretty avid photographer (I am finishing a Project 365 this year), quilter, and knitter. I like cooking, and have had years where I baked all my bread, not to mention cakes and cookies and all manner of food of various types. I have a nice setup for paintball, though I haven't been able to get any friends out for a year or two. I started motorcycling last year, and ride pretty much from March through November - I'm already starting to eyeball an upgrade to a touring cruiser.

Basically any gear intensive activity with some risk of injury is appealing.

I really like riding my motorcycle. And that whole N+1 thing? Yeah, motorcycles have two wheels also. While I only have one motorcycle (Lisa says I can have another one... instead of a car), there's still the same pull. But I have no interest in riding off-road with a motor. Motorcycles are more exoensive, and heavier... so yeah, that might be considered "bigger". I'll run out of space LONG before I get to 8 motorcycles though...

Leather Carving, and it can easily take as much time as tri training. I have a pic of an 11x14 3D portrait in my photo albulm...

I took a look at those two pieces of work in your album.  OUTSTANDING!  Very impressive indeed!

I'm surprised not to see more climbers on this thread. Climbing mountains is my big distraction from tris, though right now training for IMCDA is taking more time. It's great cross-training, especially if you can get to high elevation, and there's no better way to lose weight.

Not sure if bigger than triathlon, but a close second: Chess!

Provides a nice balance between exercising the body and the mind

I will be pursuing my interest in sailing in 2012. My goal is to buy a 24-27' sailboat by end of 2013. Size matters - it needs to be a size that I can maneuver on my own or with minimal assistance from inexperienced railmeat.

Giving up my other hobbies/sports; won't have time. Except for running. It's too easy to find time and place for running.

There's some really cool hobbies you guys have. I've dipped into several over the years, but none's really stuck with me as long as triathlon, except for music. I play bass guitar, and now during the off season I've gotten serious about learning regular old guitar. I think learning guitar has made me a better bassist and musician. I'm a gadget/technical guy by nature. I used to read a lot, but it's difficult to find the time. Also I guess I'm one of those people who has turned their hobby into their job by being a graphic designer. Most of this stuff has taken a back seat to triathlon.

I use to (before tri's and bike racing) Fly fish and tie flies, gold prospecting (till the tree huggers screwed that up), chess, and anything outdoors (hiking, fishing, hunting, etc.).
