Dude, do it.  Then report back  Really, I want someone to do this while this thread is hot.  No pics necessary

Remember, waist down, not just the legs.

You know how swimmers will shave down before the big meet at the end of the season--cause it makes them "feel" fast?  They "feel" fast because their skin is more sensitive shaved.  More. Sensitive. Shaved. Are you pickin up what I'm layin down?

I am.  I'd go from 12 seconds to 6.  Maybe 5.

So, it is faster!

I only shave my legs during the season. It's kind of a hassle otherwise.
As far as reasons go, this sums it up for me:

I don't think I am a good enough triathlete to shave my legs just yet.  It would be like me showing up for a pickup basketball game wearing the Allen Iverson arm sleeve.  But more power to those who do!

My thinking exactly.  I'd like to shave my legs but I think it would be like showing up with a $300 time trial helmet and then biking at my 16-17 mph pace.  Maybe next year (the legs, not the helmet)

Hardly got any hair to shave, really, what I got is a joke, I can do my chest with a tweezer in less than 5 min. Arms, none, nil. Legs, well, I actually did once get asked if I shaved, nope ...

So, the question has really been why bother, on the other hand can't complain it's a lot of work to run the groomer once a week, so I've joined the club :P

Must be nice - I can only dream of that, or hope they invent something to take care of it.

Same here, except I don't even have chest hair. Most bikers didn't even know I wasn't shaving my legs, they just thought I'd let myself go for a couple of weeks. But when I started doing more flip turns for swimming, I'd notice the little hair on my legs EVERY TIME I TURNED! So I started shaving... I only have to do it every other week so it's not a big deal.

dkahns51 - 2013-05-15 9:34 AM I don't shave, I also get the kinesio tape put on my legs often from the chiropractor. He told me i should shave my legs so it doesn't hurt to rip it off. I doubt it will make you faster. Only benefits would be easier to clean wounds if you crash.

Does that stuff help?  What are you treating with it?  I'm curious because I've got a touch of ITBS in my right knee.

My chiropractor says its helping me... but honestly I don't really know, it seems more of a physiological thing.

Just was reading the thread out of curiosity and thought I would mention my wife's experience about the Kin tape. She is hardcore into Jiu Jitsu, P90X, and running/triathlon on the side, but also has bad knees from previous injuries.

She recently started waking up in the middle of the night with extreme pain in her knee, and the pain went away when she moved her knee (got up to walk around etc.). This happened about 3 nights in a row, she was virtually in tears one of the nights. I woke up each time, decided to do some research online. So she is in a bunch of pain, and I am beside her figuring out what the heck she has. My best guess was patella femoral pain syndrome.

Guess what, she changed nothing about her training regimen, added kin tape to key spots around her knee (we came up with this idea on our own), wore the stuff 24-7, and hasn't woke up in pain since.

We are sold on it.

IMO and my GF's opinion, not a Man Card Violation.  She even offers to do the shaving and trimming FOR ME sometimes Laughing

I error on the safe side and do not SHAVE those areas that rest on the saddle. In the past I have gotten an ingrown hair from shaving where the skin gets compressed by the saddle.  I trim that area close, but not shave.

I shave when in season.  Easier to get wetsuit off in T1.

You are asking the wrong crowd. Triathletes make up about 0.5% of the population. Ask you coworkers what they think. Ask you wife or GF how she feels. Ask you friends at your local bar what they think about shaved legs.I don't shave because its a time investment I don't care to make. I only shave my face when it starts to itch. My wife must be old school as she said she wants her man to look and feel like a man.

I shave my legs because I like how they look without hair. That is the truth...there I said it.

We can use a lot of arguments for shaving our legs, but most are very minor gains.

If my wife knew jiu jitsu, I'd be scared.  I'd be thinking I'm doing a good job and BAM!  Triangle choke out of nowhere.

Yep, it was about time someone decided to go there with it.  I'm close to biting on this hook but I'm choosing to take the higher road.
