Member 2689 Denver, CO | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 CLOSED Thread 2 Speaking of vet bills, I just took my cat in because she started peeing blood. Turns out she has bladder stones and needs surgery; total cost with tests and everything is $2,200. Surgery is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Fortunately she's pretty young and healthy so she should be okay. Still, it's a pretty big deal. I'm trying to look on the bright side and remember that (a) she's been through surgery once when she was spayed, and (b) she's only 7 and otherwise healthy so she should come through okay. It's hard not to worry though... Edited by laffinrock 2014-04-05 3:59 PM |

Apparently IronTrac now charges an annual "subscription" fee so I'll be using the Ironman site. In other news... I grabbed Kara Gouchers book while at REI today. Didn't even know she'd written one. |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 CLOSED Thread 2 I just got the news--I did not get the position in Dallas. Kind of discouraged--not so much about the job itself, but that I didn't even get an in person interview. I'm gonna go wallow and mope now...by getting prepped for my race tomorrow. Oddly enough, I tend to make better time running when I am angry and/or depressed, so tomorrow's race might be a good one. Go figure. |

Go kick some Dallas butt in that race! |

Something will come through for you and if nothing else, you'll use that anger/depression to rock your race. |

Member 2689 Denver, CO | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 CLOSED Thread 2 Thanks for your concern, everybody. No pet insurance, don't know what the stones are from, and the doc thought they were significant enough that they need to be removed post-haste. They'll be analyzed once they've been removed. I'm really hoping they're not from the yogurt we've been feeding her every day. She adores it and I'd feel terrible if I was the one who caused them. We won't do any diet changes until after surgery because she'll be feeling punky anyway and we want her to eat, plus the yogurt helps her tummy while she's taking antibiotics. I may switch her to filtered water though. I've heard that can help prevent future problems. I'd rather not go the prescription diet route and we've cooked for our dogs in the past, so she may end up getting gourmet meals with a taurine supplement too. Oh, and she also needs her teeth cleaned, to the tune of $450. That's going to have to wait for a little while! |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Manatee Mentors 2014 CLOSED Thread 2 Hit a new 10 Miler p.r. today...by about 30 seconds....but when you consider that we did have a 30 second delay mid course due to a freight train crossing the course(I swear, only in Sacramento!), That actually puts me at a full minute of improvement, right? |
