A whole lotta love going on around here. Laughing

So out of curiousity, all this family talk spread across the country and I believe into other countries. Where is everyone from? Curious how many states we have represented here and which is the largest contention.

I'll start.

Michigan

Western Washington (longer than a 17-mile drive, but close enough not to ship a bike!)

Another bter from ga, by way of Philly. My coach just wrote me that cda is not a fast course and we are not shooting for a PR there. It's going to be about executing the plan more than pace.

I'm from WesternRainyWashington.  I'll be driving over.  Although I'm jealous of San Diego and I'd rather move there one of these days.

3Aims: the best advice I can give is to show up with proper bike gearing.  Nothing really prepares you for a cold lake - I grew up swimming in very cold water and I still don't like it   Texas will have you in good shape if it gets hot during the run though -- it hit close to 90F this year.

Edit: p.s. sorry about the Inspire, Brit.  Couldn't resist   (USNA '94... squid in your race group!)

Georgia - volunteered last year at cda and thrilled to participate this year.  Rode the course last year and in my opionon it has nothing on georgia's 3 gap for those from Georgia.  However, the hills dont quit around hayden lake and you never get the rolling effect - you seem to keep pedaling and pedaling  up hill or false flats.  I ran the course with the next to the last finisher and a few other people to pace them to the finish line.  I really enjoyed that.  A lot of energy at midnight - however, the participants were hammered at that hour.  I do not need a 9 hour finish but judging from the folkes I was running with and serving those last aide stations you really want to be done prior to 15 hours.

I have had a nice break since August 70.3 with family and doing all the things I neglected the last year.   However, its on like donkey kong since October 30.  I needed the break and my family was glad I was soley focused on them for a while.  We are all ready to add training back in the mix.  Century ride Saturday for me at an easy pace to have some fun during this base period.

Currently stationed in Colorado Springs and I have no idea where I’ll be coming from this summer.  New assignment is in the works but I am hoping not to  move until after the race.

Good luck to everyone.

It took me all day, but I read all pages.  I am glad some of you are concerned with weight.  I did my second HIM(same 2 times) and I was 15 pounds lighter and although it was my 5th race ever I had a 45 minute PR (5:05).  I am doing IMTX next year then plan on signing up for IMCDA for 2012.  My wife and I are terachers and I was thinking of renting an rv and making a 2 week trip from Texas.  My sons will be 5 and 2 and I think I can make it a real learning/fun trip.  I am lurking this year, but I will be watching.  I have always loved that part of the country and I know it would be a nice and tough course.
