I wanted to get one of these for my back window of my truck and my wife said no that it's cheesy and tacky. What do y'all think? I thought it was cool

You're asking the Manatees if you should do something that might be considered cheesee and tackee? I'd say that's a plus for us

DOOOO EEEEET

Lol, I guess I'm asking if y'all have 70.3 or 140.6 sticker on your vehicles. My wife says that I'm showing off (look at me...) I tried to explain to her I'm not trying to show off it's displaying the lifestyle that I have chosen.

Lol! well, I was proud of my wimpy HM and got a sticker, soooo... I'll just say it sounds like you would like to do it. Your truck? Your race? I know lots of people think it's "tacky" but I like seeing them. Plus, it means I could strike up chat about something besides which prez they voted for or how many people and pets in their family

As opposed to ...

BTW Mutti had a blast making the sign. She thought it was very funny. She kept saying, Make sure you tell her how old I am!

Also, she kept asking every 2min (which is normal) who we were making it for ... then I got to tell her all about you all over again and she thought that was just great.

Asalzwed - 2013-04-10 1:31 PM I'm a big fan of traveling and competing. I like the simplicity of running events but tri is cool. Speaking of, I'm in Massachusetts now!!!!

Hooooo boy.  Look out Mass....

I've already got a helmet on...

Funny story. My cousin is leaving for India today so I am going to be at his house by myself so he is showing me where everything is. He opens the closet and is like, "The helmets are here." And I'm like, "What do I need a helmet for?" Then he just looks at me for a long time.

I guess he knows you well, huh? Why, do you suppose, he's going to India? Surprised

Speaking as another new 70.3er I say DOOOO EEEEET. My DH actually bought one for me when we were at Oceanside. I don't usually do bumper stickers but I might do that one. And really, anyone who knows what it means will appreciate it!

I don't have any stickers on my car and don't have any plans to add any, but I like seeing them on other people's cars . Whenever I see one I always check out the driver - very subtly of course.

I have a SBR, a 50.5 KM (Oly Distance), and a 13.1 on the back of my car right now. I hope to add a Century Ride, a 5k swim, a 70.3, 140.6 and a 26.2 to the collection. I have never been one for putting stickers on my car,  but suddenly enjoy having it for the bragging rights/conversation starters with people at work or the park.

jobaxas - 2013-04-10 1:06 PM DID SOMEONE SAY ROADTRIP???????!!!!

Yep - Washington state - across the country - compete in the Savageman Tri (I want my name in a brick for doing "the climb").. visit Manatees on the way - and end up in Boston.

Now I just need a motor home, a lot of spending cash, and fellow manatee's that want to travel the country doing triathlons!

That would be sooooo awesome. I love racing in different venues! DH's support in traveling tri's is waning i'm afraid Frown

How does the DH feel about visiting Manatees?  (I'm being serious).  I am going to be in Denver in May - and I am considering making it a road trip.

If I do a road trip instead of flying, I am going to do an epic road trip where I schedule stops in certain cities to run or ride with fellow BT'ers on their favorite routes.  I thought it would be a cool way to travel, and I can incorporate my training into the trip.  If this comes to fruition, I am trying to figure out a way that New Mexico can be on the route...

There are a few obstacles in the way now ($$$) but it may happen yet.   I really want it to.  Will be making the final decision before the end of the month.

We are always willing to open our home to a friend. May is kinda insane for us though. I have 3 races 3 weekends in a row and we are in Colorado for a week. That being said, let me know if/when you plan to come down and we'll see if it fits.

Asalzwed - 2013-04-09 8:58 PM Gah...New York. I could live here. Yup.

Really?

I hate the East Coast.  Ok - Hate is probably to strong of a word, but I could never live anywhere on the East Coast.  Visit - sure...live, no way.  (The Navy put me on the East coast for 4 years)

I have met many an East Coast transplant that love it here, but when I lived there, I rarely met someone from the West coast that didn't want to go home.

Ehhh so I'd generally agree. I couldn't live most places on the East Coast but NYC is an exception. I'm betting Boston will be great too. I've always been a huge fan of big cities though. The people here are fantastic, too. That part was very unexpected.

That IS surprising to hear.  My guess is that it has a lot to do with the person they are conversing with!  You are very likeable.

I'm so excited for your race!

?????

I was so right about the demented thing.

Alternatively, pretend that you never got her not and carry on as usual. After all, it's her issue.  She's just trying to make it yours.  They dated five years ago, not five weeks ago.  She needs to move on!

The right combination makes all the difference!

Protip: Ask your LBS if they have loaner or test saddles before you buy one.

You want I should do it for you?  I have a lot of pent up frustration at my boss that I could take out on her for you...

Or, we could be sneaky about it... I could start posting comments on your wall about how wonderful this Andrew guy / coach sounds... about how awesome it is that he is working with you, about how much your cycling is improving since you started working with Andrew.  I'll just keep gushing about him... I agree! I rode the same saddle for months trying to "get used to it". Never did. Then I bought my Adamo and got used to it after a few days.

ROAD TRIP...not for another 6 weeks. I am so looking forward to my road trip across the US. Seattle should be May 25 or 26, depending on Canada.

i had to revise my trip and will be taking a northern route down to TN. I did not get as much leave time as I wanted to add Vegas and such. I will post pics as I travel.

Looking forward to it :-)

I had a 13.1 magnet on my car.  Then I added the 70.3 magnet.  Then I replaced the 13.1 with a 26.2 and replaced the 70.3 with a 140.6.  Then I started to buy myself necklaces for races completed (Jonathan, you may want to skip this last step.)

Ladies, the necklaces are inexpensive but fun.  I have two from Lift Your Sole (http://www.liftyoursole.com/, 26.2 and similar charm one that I made up after Vineman last year) and one from  Endorphin Warrior (140.6).  After Myrtle Beach, I got myself the run charm that I got for my Secret Santa.  Just fun stuff.

jobaxas - 2013-04-10 3:30 PMYes all perfect responses I carry on as before its not my issue. Liking his page and sharing it . Oh T.I.T.S just suddenly kicked in though I'm looking at a new saddle ...
DH just got a Cobb V-flow Max. After his race this weekend we're going to put it on my bike since I'd like to try it out too.

I use a Cobb Plus and I love it!  Do they still have the 180 day return policy?

Cobb saddles are fantastic. And yes they do the 180 day return policy. They are right down the road from me and friends of mine so I might be a little biased

I wanted to get one of these for my back window of my truck and my wife said no that it's cheesy and tacky. What do y'all think? I thought it was cool

I do not think they are cheesy and tacky---but it would be cooler if it had a manatee outline around the number instead...
