In other news, my coach called me. After heavily encouraging me to just take some time doing fun stuff and running easy/fun he subtly mentioned CAL International.

I'll have some decisions to make. But maybe I should just wait on making any for a bit since it's not necessary.

I was going to comment that I'd like to do that one with you next year but then I realized you may not be there

lol...moving me out of town already?

It's a very well-run race. On time, lots of people watching on lake, police at all turns/intersections, roads blocked nicely, smart people at the stations, easy to spectate course. I will absolutely do it with you if we're still here.

I guess I'd have to do the Oly to justify the drive to Phoenix tho

Throwing down the gauntlet! hehehe

I wanted to do it as my first Oly, but I just didn't put in the training time. At least I stepped it up from last year's SSprint.

She had a bunch of bloodwork done too. Good news, although I was a complete baby, I didn't pass out when they took the blood. Also, it didn't really hurt at all gawd I am a baby with that stuff. I'll get the results of that  later.

Another thing, my doc was concerned about my period. The frequency (every 2.5 weeks), the length (>7 days) and the fact it's quite heavy. She recommends me getting on birth control and skipping my period as she thinks it's negatively affecting my energy levels and quite frankly my mental health (my feedback.) Interestingly enough this has increased since running, not decreased. We were laughing about my unlucky circumstance vs say amenorrhoea (don't worry, it was a joke!) The good news is, that could explain my general fatigue with a fairly simple fix. But we'll see what the blood tests say, too.

Soooo, that's that!

Well, as long as "that's that!"

Best to get checked and take care of you!!

I agree with taking some time before you decide. When i needed to make a decision DS2 once told me to flip a coin. Not to let fate decide, but because when the coin is in the air you'll know what you want the decision to be. I've never actually done that but it makes me really look at which of two choices I really prefer.

Looks like you wouldn't have to try very hard.

Give it a shot (um, with no needles...).  Can't hurt to try!

Yeah. That is an excellent idea.

I will certainly keep you all in the loop as to what's going on.

As of now just fun, surgery and not too much structure.

Got some new toys recently.  I picked up a Mio Link optical heart rate monitor, because chest straps are not my friends at all.  I got a new pair of running shoes (no neon tho, but they're red and blue Mizunos, aka my Spiderman shoes)!  My Xterra Vector Pro full wetsuit just arrived today.  Looking forward to putting some piles on them all!

Ladies, I have 2 daughters and a wife.  You're going to have to bring more than periods to the table to get me squirming.  Salty, you should get a sponsor! That rocks, I love that they know your Boston time.  Mostly I'm just glad you went to the doc and a plan is being put into place. Take it easy (if you know how to do that) and have some fun with your running while you get things worked out. Then make a decision, no need to rush.

Sweet!! Just in time for your race this weekend too.  (I assume you'll be using them and putting miles on them, as opposed to not using them and putting piles on them.)

Haven't tried that one, but have waited more until decisions needed to be made. Especially after a bigger event that I've been more invested in I might try to do a variety of things in the meantime and see where interests go. Sometimes they move, sometimes they don't. I really don't know until I give it a chance.

I'm having a difficult time getting the Mio Link to pair with my 310XT, so I might not use that this weekend.  I'll start breaking in the shoes soon.  The swim this weekend is a pool swim, but I'll get the suit out to masters sometime to start getting used to it.

The Mio Link is pairing with my phone, but not with my watch over Ant+.  I wish I could borrow someone's watch to see if the issue is with the watch or the Link.  My watch is pairing with my old chest strap.

Technology can be so frustrating.  How does an optical HRM work?  I've never heard of such a beast.

Salty - very glad to hear you went to the doctor about your concerns and are taking action, needles or not.  Friggin' women issues (sarcastic laughter), it's tough being the superior sex (haughty laughter).   I guess it's the price we pay.

Salty - Glad you went and able to set up a plan to deal with it and improve things. As far as the disclaimer, none needed. It also takes more than that to make me squirm. Grew up in a house with 2 sisters and a mother, was married for 10.5 years, have 2 daughters and did a deployment in a MedEvac Flight company.

hehehe...Waldo's got nothing on her. They could do a whole book series on her called "Where's Casper?" Pages of clouds, vanilla ice cream, snow...lots of snow, cotton balls. What fun!

Jason sent this to me last week. It was "helpful" for getting ready for my race.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
