I prefer to watch them go in. I like knowing exactly when and where it's going to hurt.

Gigitty!

Cord make funn-neh...... Hey Crowny.....you ever take off those "fake" football Jerseys? Cuz we all know what REAL football is.

Heh.  Right, cause the lard azzezz that are hauling their butts around a field for quick 5 second bursts is REAL football.

This cracks me up. My British friends always said it. But if you REALLY watch a soccer match it's apparent that they are in fact NOT running the whole time. They may be moving around but they're not running. Really they run about as much as American football players but they don't get hit. They ACT like they do, but they never really do. Well, sometimes, I guess, but rarely.

Dude, then you were not watching the match.  The AVERAGE soccer player runs about 6.5 miles per match.  So over 90 minutes, they are running/jogging/walking/sprinting.  That is the average.  Then throw in many of the forwards and they will bump up to the 9-10 mile mark.  So basically doing fartleks for 90 minutes.  The only American Football players that can hang with even the average soccer player would be wide outs corners and safetys and maybe some of the running backs.  The rest of them would be done in 20 minutes.

Yes and could soccer players hang in American Football. Nope. I don't dislike soccer at all I just laugh because they only thing soccer players have to say is they run more.

No no I watch the matches but not just where the ball goes. Yes they run for a few seconds then stop for a while and shove the referees when someone falls down and feigns injury. Then they run again for a few seconds then stop for a while after someone falls down and breaks his leg then miraculously recovers once a yellow or red card has been issued, then they all run again for a few seconds.

In other words, it's just like American football but without the true physical aspect.

(Sorry Crowny I could never get into football over there, no matter how hard I tried! I have to say the skill level is pretty amazing but I dont think they run as much as people think they do. And they're all small skinny guys so the SHOULD be good runners!)

Hi TAN,

I'm home sick with swollen hurty glands, sore throat, achy all over and that oh-so-much fun chills/fever thing.

Maybe I should have gotten a flu shot too?  No problem with needles here, well, other than the time that they nicked an artery in my arm and I was sporting the heroin chic look for a few days while my arm bruised all around my elbow from mid-biceps to mid-ulnar area.  That one kinda sucked.

All kidding aside do you think if you took the best soccer players (Yes they are VERY skilled but it's a totally different skill set) could be productive in the NFL or how about Rugby? Rugby would be a more natural progression for Soccer players but I don't think the average soccer pro would be very good at it.

All kidding aside do you think if you took the best soccer players (Yes they are VERY skilled but it's a totally different skill set) could be productive in the NFL or how about Rugby? Rugby would be a more natural progression for Soccer players but I don't think the average soccer pro would be very good at it.

Actually yes.

But it would be based on position and training.

Look at the likes of Iguchi Oneyu.  I honestly think he would be a very good tight end or big wide out.  And some of the smaller guys would probably be pretty good running backs, if they could put on weight, or even a good quick cover corner (see Champ Bailey).

Ultimately, it is apples to oranges.  Both sports now ultimately select not only the best person (in the selection pool) for the job, but the best body type for the job.  Clearly there isn't a soccer player in the world that would be able to play in the interior line just like there isn't an interior lineman in the world that would be able to play on the pitch.  Their body type isn't condusive.  You won't see a Messi type at nose just like you won't see a Raji teeing up a PK.  Just isn't going to happen.

All that being said, yes I do believe there are players in both sports that could cross over.  See Chad Johnson playing for KC last year during the lockout.

I haven't had a flu shot in about 10 years - the one year I got one was the worst in terms being sick, since then I haven't had one, but maybe I should think about getting one when I'm done with this ickiness.  Blah!

i probably wouldn't get them if i had a bad reaction either...i've only gotten it once before and had no problems.

I was trying to come up with a zinger of a comeback, but alas, my brain is entirely too fudgey today to even try.  You win this round Meh!

I had a friend that was allergic to something in the shot one year and had to deal with a constant break-out of hives for months.  Now THAT was a bad reaction!

Being sick sucks.

I have had a sinus cold/infection along with just about everyone around me. It could be worse I guess. It mostly hits hard at night and in the morning.

How is everyone doing today.
