Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Jo's dancing with the starz!!! OK, my body is now talking to me. Yesterday felt sore on bottom of right heel. On todays scheduled 12 miler heel started hurting about mile 4ish and got worse after that. About mile 7.5 ish I thought I felt something pop or at least move down there. The pain is only at my heel (under foot). Only that location. Hurts to put pressure on it. So what kind of injury you think this is? Guess I'll start googling stuff. Tomorrow is off day for running. |

Meh, I'm not surprised, went from 77 miles in Sept. to 164 mies on Oct. Joking aside, don't self diagnose, go to the physio or sports doctor, get it looked at and diagnosed - might be nothing might be something could turn into something.... |

Meh, I'm not surprised, went from 77 miles in Sept. to 164 mies on Oct. Sounds like PF to me too. I had it 2x, once in each foot. Assuming it is PF, you won't do yourself more harm by running. I had the cortisone shot each time, first time it didn't work, second time ( which was 2 weeks out from a marathon) it worked like a charm. I also went to PT both times. Basically you do stretches, elect stim and ultra sound. Also ice the area. Good luck! |

If you have health insurance, fercryinoutloud def go see an ortho, podiatrist, or someone who'd know something about it. Or get a ref from your primary to PT (preferably sports one, not general one). Sleeping in a Strassburg (sp?) sock should help, too, if it's PF. |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Called primary car physicians office, they said I couldn't see my doc until Nov 27th. Ha, so I said I'll take next doc available and get a referral to Sport doc etc. So she said she could transfer me to nurse practitioner, maybe she could see me etc. I talked to her, she has PF issues, knows what I'm dealing with (empathy, yay!!!!). She was able to get me to see doc. this thursday. I guess until then, stretch and ice, rinse and repeat. What a year so far, my first cycling injury and now my first running related injury. Although PF might be a condition I have to deal with from here on out, so not sure if that's considered an injury. Wonder what I can hurt while swimming? |

I managed to pull something in my lower back! I tell ya, the fun never stops! Its beginning to feel better, so hopefully I can do SOMETHING tomorrow....I only have 11 days til Spartan Beast....I'm a little antsy due to pretty much no training....I am not worried about getting through the whole thing, but I would like to not be in TOTAL pain afterwords...ya I know, details, details. Its okay though, no matter what I know I will have fun. |

You can push off the wall too hard and hurt your legs further that way. You can exacerbate bad biomechanics and screw up your shoulder. You can get a concussion because someone doesn't know how to circle swim and you swim plumb into them full speed and bash heads. However, I think you'll be fine , also, I'm glad you got some medical luck. Aquajogging, you know, it's good for you ... |

My general execution plan for races for which I have insufficient training (okay, that would be all of them) is ... go out slow, and fade right into the finish. You'll be fine--have fun, don't attack it, just experience it. |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Actually, you just 'verbalized' my plan to a "T"... My back is feeling mostly better today, a couple twinges of pain here and there, but nothing constant...so I will chill today, MAYBE do a bit of yoga tonight, and perhaps do a tiny workout tomorrow. Today's main issue is a lack of food--I have to get some blood work done (just routine yearly crap), which requires fasting...sadly, this is the only day I can do this, Soooo I have to wait til after school. Double sadly, school doesn't end til 1:15...which means I am basically fasting from 7:30 last night til at least 2:30 today!! SO HUNGRY!!!! Apart from that everything's grand! |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Hellooooo Manatees! Well I had a great weekend! The race was great and spending time with family was wonderful. I actually got to see all of my siblings AND both my parents this time. That rarely happens, except at Christmas. Had an interesting peri-menapausal discussion with my sisters (damn we're getting old). One of them, the youngest sister, 43, is having a hysterectomy in a few days. I told her about how the ladies of Manatee rave about Maca Powder. My running has been more frequent than on my last plan, and after only a week I can feel an improvement in the effort needed to run my regular route. I decided to start logging my food intake again. Haven't done that since I was trying to lose weight. I figured I need to have a better idea of how much/what I am eating. Yesterday was a road trip day so the majority of my calories were Starbucks drinks but today is better and I am getting an idea of what I need to do to get my diet closer to a 50% carb, 25% protien, 25% fat ratio. Babbling over. Have a wunnerful day. Happy voting to the US-ers in the group. |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED I just wanted to quickly check in this afternoon. I've been swamped the past few days but I should have a few moments later on to catch up. The race this weekend went well. I had fun and I would do the event again if it fit into my schedule. I keep on semi-joking and saying, "Vineman 2014" but if that's the case, it would fit in again then ;-) I hope that everyone is doing well. |
