Another question - what's your dream race? Any destination, any distance. It doesn't have to be realistic for your current fitness ...

I don't really have any dream races. I have dream distances.

I would love to do a Double/Triple/Deca Ironman.

A 24 hour running race would be cool too.

Either a HIM or 1/2 marathon in Northern California

Kristen - you're in luck - there's Vineman in Sonoma County, CA! That would be awesome!

Mylissa - my husband was all over the eco challenge for a while too - he really want to do that - it sounds super cool.

Darren- you're only a few steps from it!! Is there an ultra series in Alberta? I assume there is - there's one here where some of the races sound super cool

I know personally, there are a few i would love - like the Big Sur Marathon looks just gorgeous, and I may actually do one year is the Princess Half at Disney World (would like to do that one with my sisters).  We went to Hawaii to watch the IM World Championship which is super cool but I am not sure i'd ever want to actually do it - those darn lava fields look way too hot to be enjoyable!  If i wasn't so scared of OWS (without a wetsuit) I'd definitely do IM Cozumel in Mexico!!

I did the Marine Corps marathon in DC in 2007 which was super cool - I totally recommend it as a destination race. And DH did Ironman Canada in 2007 as well and it's in a gorgeous area with all kinds of wineries around for the post-race celebrations!

Happy Paddy's day everyone.  A friend tried to convince me to join him in a local Irish pub for a few Guinness.  He will be there mid afternoon & well into the night.  Irish bands playing & plenty of Guinness.  I briefly considered, but came to my senses!

Although, I do enjoy a Guinness.  A meal all to itself, less calories than a regular beer & a great laxative!!

Man, am I that old?!?!

Who has the next race?

Happy St. Patricks Day all!!!!

It has been a great day....nice 3 mile run this morning, followed by hearing my little peanuts heartbeat for the first time and then headed down with my hubby and daughter to a parade.  Now getting ready to eat some corned beef and cabbage!!!!

As for dream races go....I think I would love to do a HIM somewhere and do a few more 1/2 marathons....really doesn't matter where, it would be fun to do it somewhere outside of St. louis!

Orthopedic assessment: calcific tendonitis - chronic. Frozen shoulder from me stabilizing it this week. Feeling a bit better after cortisone, pain pills and every two hour stretching (OUCH!). PT when we get home.

Ouch! That does not sound fun.  PT is a good course of action. Let us know when you know what the regimen will be for addressing this

thanks for all the good luck messages!  i'm leaving in a little bit for the race - it's about an hour from here at a camp i used to go to when i was a kid - a camp for diabetic girls.  the diabetic team i'm training with for my first triathlon got me looped into this one.

looks like a beautiful day for running!  clear skies and highs in mid 40s.

jen - yes, i'll probably carry some kind of gel in my pocket in case my blood sugar gets low, but this is such a short race that i don't think it should be an issue.  i test right before race to make sure i'm in a good range, but good to have something on me just in case!  i also think this race will have extra supplies on the course like gatorade/juice since i'm sure there will be other diabetics racing today.

i'm feeling much better and really excited for the race this afternoon!    i'll check back in following the race...  thanks again!

Mylissa, that is a big bummer about your shoulder.  I really hope PT helps!!

I had my 4 mile St. Patrick's Day race this afternoon and it went well.  I wanted to run it (without stopping) in under 40 minutes, which I did, so that felt good.  Not sure of my official time yet, but my watch said 37:14 (give or take). I'm happy with that!

Here's my race report if anyone's interested:

Nice job!

I typed up a big post the other day but for some reason it never showed up, probably some issue with my dinosaur of a computer.

Everyone is doing so awesome, you guys rock!

My training was coming along great and then my shin started acting up. I made an appt with my ART guy and thought I was catching it pretty early, I was wrong. After 3 sessions I am getting better but man that is brutal! Last Wednesday I was hurting. Saw him Friday and he worked on it and taped me up. The timing isn't horrible. I know it will be better before my Oly and am really looking forward to my race. Yesterday I did an OWS at a lake we have not too far away for triathletes and scuba divers. There is a boat about 50 meters away from shore, I dog paddled out to it and jumped off to start my swim. It's the closest I can get to this which is what my swim start will be like in two weeks. The timing mat is on the boat so once you cross it your time starts!

Today the plan is my last long bike (2 hours) followed by a short run. My husband is training for his first HIM and has a much longer ride than I do. He drove to where he is riding but I was going to ride close. Unfortunately, he took the bike pump with him so I am stuck at home Frown The place where he parks is 45 minutes away and he has a 3.5 hour ride so it's going to be a while. Not to happy about that.

Training for the next 2 weeks is pretty easy for me, hoping to get 4-5 miler this week depending on how the shin is feeling.

Oh and I think my dream race would be Cozumel but I would want 70.3 rather than 140.6. My husband and I have talked about doing Redman in OK next year, we have heard great things about it and the drive wouldn't be too horrible for us.
