Meh, I'm not surprised, went from 77 miles in Sept. to 164 mies on Oct. How old are your shoes? Have you taken out the inserts and looked at them? I mean, maybe it's messed up shoes or something easy like that as opposed to the "I" word. Does it bother you in if you are walking around barefoot or in other shoes? |

I have 650cc tires. I bought a Cycleops Fluid 2 trainer a year ago, not really thinking about the size of my tires. I'm bending my L bolt out of shape beyond recognition. My husband has had to bend it back into shape three times now. He told me this last time that he won't be able to bend it back again. Does your Cycleops Fluid 2 trainer have a yellow handle in the back? If so, spin the handle to adjust the fly wheel so that the wheel is touching the trainer. Then you can move the handle up and down -- basically opened and closed position. Open to remove your bike and closed to so that your wheel is touching the spindle. So you only use the handle to open/close after the initial adjustment. And yes, it should work on both 700 and 650 wheels. See this video at about 50 seconds. Yes. That's what I have. Maybe I'm loosening it too much every time? Because when I go to tighten it, I have to turn and turn and turn, and I'm really putting too much wear and tear on the L bolt. I'll watch the video. If you have a decent relationship with your LBS, have them demo it for you. They probably have a Fluid2 in their shop and they can help you if you are still having problems. It *is* kinda weird and it took a few times for me to get it right. I was fortunate that I learned how to do that at indoor cycling class (aka BYO trainer class) and I had experienced people there to mock help me. OTOH, if you don't have a local bike shop, reply here and we'll figure it out together. |

Well I had a great weekend! The race was great and spending time with family was wonderful. I actually got to see all of my siblings AND both my parents this time. That rarely happens, except at Christmas. Had an interesting peri-menapausal discussion with my sisters (damn we're getting old). One of them, the youngest sister, 43, is having a hysterectomy in a few days. I told her about how the ladies of Manatee rave about Maca Powder. My running has been more frequent than on my last plan, and after only a week I can feel an improvement in the effort needed to run my regular route. I decided to start logging my food intake again. Haven't done that since I was trying to lose weight. I figured I need to have a better idea of how much/what I am eating. Yesterday was a road trip day so the majority of my calories were Starbucks drinks but today is better and I am getting an idea of what I need to do to get my diet closer to a 50% carb, 25% protien, 25% fat ratio. Babbling over. Have a wunnerful day. Happy voting to the US-ers in the group. |

I emailed the CycleOps people -- we've been emailing back and forth over the past few days. The upshot of the emails was, "Well. 650c are smaller tires than 700, so you are going to have to get the tension just about as far as it can go to get it to work. It puts a lot of stress on the components." My next question was, "So, is there anything I can do about it, or do I just have to live with it." The response, was a polite, "Live with it." He was glad that I had the yellow cam lever instead of the black knob. He said I have a better chance of getting the tension right with the cam lever. |

I've been swamped the past few days but I should have a few moments later on to catch up. The race this weekend went well. I had fun and I would do the event again if it fit into my schedule. I keep on semi-joking and saying, "Vineman 2014" but if that's the case, it would fit in again then ;-) I hope that everyone is doing well. Yay Jayne!! |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Happy election day U.S. Manatees! This is nervous time for me as my boss is up for re-election. If he wins, I get to keep my job; if the other guy wins all bets are off. So, needless to say, I would like him to win! I am heading out soon for his victory (I hope) party. His wife is running for US Senate, she is the underdog, and her party is at the same place, so it could make for an awkward party ... Fingers crossed |

Needless to say, after I left, I was in full Kate-Hulk mode....what a way to go out and vote! Then I went to Taco Bell and ate a huge meal in ultra-gluttonous fashion....still kinda peeved, but my tummy is full (probably will be until tomorrow morning!). Too bad I never received my insurance card last year....I guess there will be no blood tests for me. grrr Kate smash. |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED A friend of mine -- Maria527 -- has a bike with 650 wheels and she wrote the following when I asked her about using it on a trainer: I have 650 wheels on my Tri bike and I have CycleOps magnetic (not sure how that differs from fluid); however I use my road bike (700s) on my trainer. But I do recall putting my Tri bike on it when I first bought it and I had to adjust the piece that screws out to fit the smaller frame. I would also recommend a bike block because the wheels are small and the front end of the bike might slant down too much without a bike block to even the front wheel with the back wheel. But it should fit with a few adjustments. Good luck! |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Ah, the manatees are always good entertainment! Thanks, guys, for the humorous and informational stuff. I don't even dare to start shouting out individual manatees and their tales because I will surely miss someone. So I will just give a giant group manatee hug which will serve to congratulate, comfort, commiserate, or just support all of you!! Sorry my visits have been quick and dirty and mainly of the lurker variety as I haven't had a chance to write much. I've been really fighting various issues in my personal life, which just leaves me feeling derailed and disconnected. I'm trying to get some workouts organized and get into some sort of semblance of a regular routine now that it is dark early (ugh, hate it) and cold. I will toss the roadie on the trainer eventually, maybe even this week, and alter hubby's bike to fit me to ride outside when I can. Rico still needs bathed after my last race (can't believe I've neglected him this long, so unlike me) and will get to rest and relax all winter. I want to get back into a running groove, too, as not to lose the little gains I made. Swimming: well, we shall see. Don't really have the money to renew my pool membership at the moment, so I guess that will wait. I just agreed to play 2 games for another hockey team who was suddenly (and inexpicably, as of yet, to me) found without a netminder. My friend played for them this past weekend and she said I shouldn't commit to too many because, well, as she put it, "They suck". Yikes. But I hate to see a team in need suffer, and I do know a handful of the girls on the team. My team has our first home game Saturday, YAY!!! I plan on doing a 5K with a friend that morning. It's a point to point, and mostly downhill to some degree. Should be interesting. First time for the race. |
