It was pouring rain this morning, which means the roads are more slick (since we don't get rain very often, the oils from cars and stuff do not get frequently washed away, so it's more sicklier). A close friend of ours had just picked up her kids from school and was walking home. The mom and youngest child, a 2 yr old girl, were hit by a car and the little girl died. I still can't really grasp that it actually happened and that Anna is gone. Matt, my thoughts and prayers to the families of everybody involved. Another Car / Bike accident here in the Milwaukee area this AM. I have been worrying about my children and grandchildren for over 30 years now and you never lose that feeling that something may happen to them. Hug and love everyone you know like it is the last time you will ever see them. I don't know about where you are but up here in Ontario it is illegal to used "any" hand held device while driving. Stan: We've been married 21 years and I think you should live by the advice "do whatever your wife tells you to do!" Dino: I'm sure you've been following the thread on ST about your friend. I am really worked about this. There have been way too many close calls and serious accidents in the bike community this year. I really think until severe punishment is handed down for these drivers it's going to be much of the same. Mayor Dave wants 20% of the community to be biking to work in 3 years, perhaps he and the Governor should be focusing on keeping those people that already do safe. |

Fall has officially arrived with a vengeance in Wisconsin......42F with wind gusts 25-35mph for my ride today. First time ever I have been blown off my bike due to crosswinds while aero. One guy had to hit the ditch, but both of us were pretty unscathed--left leg and hip are a little sore. Needless to say, I feel like a fool. I tucked my tail between my legs and cut my losses. Likely the last outdoor longer ride of the season too. |

Glad to hear this is a good read... I downloaded it from my library a couple of days ago to "read" the audiobook. I listen to books while I drive. Oh, and Suzy's advice was spot on. A group of friends and I always reinforce "A man's two most important words to keep a marriage strong are 'Yes, Dear.'"  |

Sounds like my windy ride during training camp at CDA where we were all behind on nutrition because we wouldn't take our hands off our bars! Sorry summer is over.  |

LOL, I think we are both pretty easy going and like to do the same things, so neither of us is ever really having to compete for time. That, and I do what I am told... Easier that way. |
