I know my manatees can be creative!!  BRING IT!!!

Felicia, I hope all is well with you, how are you healing up? I was thinking of you the other day, I can't wait for the hot weather to break and have the opportunity to get some trail running in. Have you done any in a while? 2 of my local parks are soaked from our rains, it is swamp like, so I'll avoid them for a few more months.

Are you still on for Horsethief Canyon or Run for the Rocks? Or both????

Thanks for asking, Chris. I got my stitches out today, so that makes me feel better. He said to give it until Monday before swimming. I have missed the pool.

I haven't done any real trail running, but the fam and I did some short trail hiking/walking this weekend, which was nice. Even my 12 year old said, "This trail would be great for running!" We really wanted to run.

I still don't know what's going on the weekend of the Trail run and half marathon. I haven't signed up for the trail run yet, just because I know I can sign up for it that morning if I decide I want to do it. I'm supposed to be going to New Mexico on that Sunday after the half marathon, but I haven't heard yet what time I need to be in New Mexico or how I am getting from the airport to the site, which is not that close to the airport (hours a way). So I am still planning to run the half and tentatively planning on the trail run, but it is possible that I will have to DNS the half, and just run the trail, or that I will decide against the trail run the morning of.

Did you follow all of that??? LOL

Hi Nancy and welcome to the crazy, yet awesome, somewhat dysfunctional, but in the most fun way possible pod of Manatees!

At the top where the drop down menus are, if you hover over the "races" tab there should be "search reports" if you're looking for past race reports of a certain race.  Once you find the race you're looking for, you can also choose to look at them all, or the specific years for which reports were written.

Hope this helps!

I've done up to 5 hours on the drainer before - but had to have movies/tv shows to distract me from the fact that I was on the drainer.  I also had to get off the bike every hour or so to try and stretch out my back.  Yell

My apologies to Yoda for my lack of mental discipline!

Plural (triathletes) is probably not appropriate for a wedding.     Although, if they were in Utah.....

Dilemma:

There is a century ride this weekend in Tullahoma.    Weather looks good but still on the warm side.  Tullahoma is a 90 minute drive from here.  Just was reminded that there is another quasi-local century on the east side of Huntsville on the 21st.  Thats a 70 minute drive.      Weather in late September is the best weather we get all year.   Leaves don't turn around here to October.   Scenery for both is about the same.

I would like to do both.   It is too much to do and if I do both if there enough time to recover from the first to do the second?

The first has 5364 feet of climb.   It seems to mostly be spread over a lot of "little" climbs.  The second has just about the same amount of climb, 5000 ft, but it looks to be mostly on one serious climb.

Cheeky answers appreciated.....

How well did you recover from that big trainer ride recently? I can normally go noticeably longer on outdoor rides than the trainer and be fine, in terms of both tired of the saddle and just being tired.

It took two days to fully recover from the 4 hour trainer ride.   Sunday I rode for 45 minutes.  Monday I rode for an hour. Today I only rode for 30 minutes, mostly to make my blood pressure behave.   If I can find the time I will ride for two hours tomorrow.

Are you going to race them or just going to enjoy the weather and have a good time? If it's the latter than I say GO FOR IT. Also, will you be riding with other people that can share the workload? That makes a huge difference.

Last year we did a bikeMS ride in North/South Carolina that was 100 miles day one and 100 miles day two - back to back centuries. Now overall it was a net elevation loss but it was SO WINDY that it really was difficult. Luckily, we hooked up with some big groups to share the work and we had a lot of fun. You're right, fall is the BEST time to ride!!

Oh geeze. I'm too lazy to look at your training but as long as you have been biking somewhat consistently you are totally fine.

I did a double century, back to back days and you all know how I feel about bikes.
