ebshot - 2009-05-12 11:12 AM Seriously.  The swimming gods are against me this month.  I do my run this morning so that I will have plenty of time to do my 4000 yd swim this afternoon while my son is at school.  I pull into the pool parking lot and at the same time, the thunder and lightening start.  No swimming this afternoon for me.  I will try again tonight.

awwwww that sux...hope the swim gods will be kinder to you!!! and you are able to swim tonight Erica. Good Efforts if that counts for anything!

GPOL.  for ALL you posted....and i mean ALL you posted (damn he's hot)  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK......YOU.

LADIES.

im SO glad i did what i did today.  im feeling MUCH better, not 100%, but MUCH better about this bike.  i did a swim/bike brick and i just went round and round the parking lot at the Y, shifting, shifting, shifting, getting used to where everything was ie where it felt....

too bad the 14.5 miles i have to do on Sunday cant be around the parking lot at the Y.  i got REALLY proficient at cornering and handling 'sloping' hills.

actually there was more variance to the terrain then one would expect.  i just needed a time when i could go out on my own, go at my own pace, and not feel like i had to keep or that i was looking like a dork if i made a 'mistake' and shifted 'wrong'....

this was a SMALL STEP, but an important one today.

the real 'test' will come Friday.  i have bike/run brick and im gonna do the loop that i do around the lake - i know this 'course' like the back of my hand, that way i can anticipate the hills et al and not feel like i dont know where im at.

im holding off making any decisions about whether to use the road bike on Sunday, but its looking better TODAY than it did two days ago.

and.....since this IS a SWIM CHALLENGE THREAD.

I SWAM TODAY.  1050 YARDS.  21 MINUTES.

KathyG - 2009-05-12 7:36 AM Swim update:

I swam a second time yesterday with my 14 year old daughter. We are doing a sprint relay Sunday where she'll swim and run and I'll bike. She wanted to practice going under the lane dividers and swimming. She did great and it was a fun thing to do together.

THIS IS BRILLIANT.

have a great race....together.

WOOT!
stacieb

how old is the daughter Kathy? I love racing with my 27 yr old!

Emily is 14. She has been doing regular sprint tris since she was 11 on and off. She even won overall female in a biathlon (nope not kids with guns but really a duathlon that they named it strange). We did a sprint as a relay back after I was in a bike race crash in '07. Some how doing it now right around mother's day feels more special.

There is an all women race here 2 weeks after my Ironman and I want to do it as a relay with my daughters...Emily, 14, can swim, and Shasha who is 13 can run..I will bike of course.

When I lived in Florida that would happen to me all the time! It would pi$$ me off because there was always thunder in the summer.  Don't have to worry about that here, we hardly ever get thunder/lightning, some times I miss watching it at night.

Going for my swim with one of my 4yr olds, this one is a better swimmer so I should be able to get an hour in then I will be half way through my goal!!!!

    1. (2500)- Aerobic Session:
    2. Warm-up: 2x(200 free, 100 IM, 100 Kick)
    • Main set:
      • 10x100 (aerobic free interval, easy with about 15 sec rest-think about your stroke);
      • 6x50 (1 stroke/ 1free)
    • Cool-down: 200
  • I may add if I haven't reached one hour.  This a good workout to keep an eye on the little one, the guard is there but....

Crap. Don't check the thread for a day, and there's 10 new pages. I ain't reading them. Not enough time in the day.

However...my work Internet access restrictions have been relaxed and I can get on BT again! Woot!

So, now I should  be able to keep up.

Swim number 5 is on tap for tonight. That gets me halfway to my goal. Then, starting next week, I think I am swimming 3x per week. I may actually blow my goal out of the water.

    Heh.
