Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: bEASTies - March Winds Challenge ebshot - 2010-03-12 2:51 PM Well, I have made a very important race schedule decision today. I am not doing a HIM this year. I do not think I have the time to train for it properly and I am not going to have a repeat of last year's suffer fest. I need to wait until my kids are older and schedules have stabilized. My original plan was to train while the kids were at school. However, Cole has three appointments next week and will be missing a bunch of school and there goes three of my training days. It looks like he'll start to have two days a week of therapy starting up soon too. So, it's time to focus on going short and having fun. The longer distances will be there for me when I am ready for it. I know it sux but having realistic expectations can really keep you from feeling bad when you fall behind where you "expect" yourself to be. You can always focus on later or next year. Have a bEASTly hug |

Keeping your race distance shorter will allow you to better manage your training schedule... and not stress about missing a workout. Hope things calm down with Cole in the very near future! |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: bEASTies - March Winds Challenge Okay, with all these posts about college teams and pro I need to share a story. when I moved to Georgia and went to my first professional meeting, they started going around the room introducing themselves and it was not long before the introduction included whether or not they were UGA or GA Tech or Auburn. They got around to me and I introduced myself as the "Damn Yankee who knew nothing about any of those teams" Got a big laugh. It has now been 21 years here in the south and I still don't give a damn about any of those team. LOL |

I read the last maybe 2 pages, so I'm pretty sure i'm not completely caught up, but maybe I'll get to it later today or tomorrow! I'm tiiiiired today! Last night I went to yoga and got a pretty good strength session in, and today I'm definitely feeling sore in my arms and shoulders! Luckily Fridays are my usual planned rest days so that I can rest up for me Saturday long run. So I'm definitely taking advantage and resting up today because I have to run 18 miles tomorrow That'll be the longest I've ever run (surpassing the 16 from last weekend), and I'm feeling a little nervous about it. I think this is going to be how I'll feel for just about every long run until my marathon next month! You will do great tomorrow! And for your Mary! enjoy your rest day. Thanks!! Things are just starting to get intimidating, I think. . . But I should just trust my training and I'm sure I'll be fine |

I'm really starting to enjoy speedwork, tempo runs etc and trying to get faster (which is weird, considering I'm doing my first marathon and HIM this year so why I'm obsessed with speed right now is a mystery to me). |

I'm good with the decision. Relieved really. Things ramped up this time last year too and my training suffered. I vowed not to let that happen again. So, the only way to do that now is not to do the race. I'll still go and cheer on my friends and have a beer after though! KOM was there for me after I crossed the line last year, I'll be there for her when she crosses the line this year! |

So go Heels!) I went to college where nobody cared about the sports program; I never went to a single game. My son is a freshman and one of his high priorities in a school was their having good teams. He wanted to go to U Mich but we couldn't afford it. He ended up at Maryland with most of his expenses paid. |

While I know you are stubborn and love a challenge doing tris is supposed to be for fun, health and socializing. You can have lots of that at shorter distance races. |

We had breakfast at the Middle of Nowhere Diner and then swung by and got an Easy Pass for Bry's travel. Hung out for a bit in Jamestown and then headed to Warwick to get Alex's birthday gift (lacrosse gear), went to Barnes and Noble and then had lunch at Smokey Bones. Took the long way home and got back with a bit of time to spare before the kids came bounding off of the bus. A great day all around. |
