Whew, busy day in here!  Was in the clinic today so no access for me.  Rode my bike to and from work, then went out for a 16km run.  Had to stop to get a popsicle after about 90 minutes, not sure if heat, or not enough nutrition with me, but was getting cold sweats--that happens to me when my blood glucose gets too low.  Popsicle got me home

OK - I did another drive by reading - you guys are SO sososo effing funny!!  Very entertaining last couple pages!  Thanks for that!

But one thing Salt said (something about Yanti living in a pink house with a red door and the resulting explosion of Salt's head and her asking if Yanti knew what kind of work she was in...) got me thinking.  I wonder what all of our pod members do to make bacon?  Can we share that with each other?  I know some of you know each other from way back - but as a young manatee, i don't know

I'll share - I'm a druggist.  (i love telling old people that - they think it's so cute(aka clinical pharmacist in a small hospital)

Hope all is well crew - I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better!!

I'm a Post Doc in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at a University Medical Hospital.  I work on Pulmonary Hypertension trying to identify the genes that change in the course of the disease and trying to find drugs to help the heart and reverse the disease.

That's rad!  Good work!

ebshot - 2012-07-12 8:32 PM Well, we are home from the race.  Alex was nervous and it showed.  She started out waaaaayyy too fast and then crashed and burnt.  She had a mini meltdown but we had a heart to heart (me telling her to HTFU...yes really.  Of course this was after I had encouraged her for 20 minutes prior) and she finished strong.

She took 3rd place in her AG and is talking about the next one!

AWESOME!!!!  Way to go Mini Manatee! (and Momma manatee!)

Good work - very convenient to have a popsicle stand nearby to rescue you from bonking!  POPSICLES TO THE RESCUE!!

x2!  Jen that has got to be a fascinating field to work in.  I love science.

I don't do anything.    I am a SAHM.  I went back to school and finished my bachelors degree (GO UCONN!!) but with the special needs of my middle son, I cannot work until he's stable.  Sooooo, I manage his care (take him to a million appts a week) and fight for his educational needs to be met and taxi my other two kids to their activities and friends.  It really is a full time job.  I don't know how parents work full time and have kids too.  It's a lot to balance.

ETA:  Tracy, I love our pharmacist.  Really, she's is amazing and I don't know what I'd do without her.  Pharmacists are live savers.

Talk about a full time job and then some. You have the best job a person could love! Add on to it that your husband is where? Yeah, that is not a job that I think many people are signing up for. Major props to you.

Thanks!  I think it's pretty cool.  I like getting to work with the Clinical side of research rather than "pure" basic science.  Far more interesting to work on human disease (at least to me).

Seriously, you cannot say you don't do anything.  I don't know how SAHMs do it.  I was so ready to go back to work at the end of my maternity leave.  Being a SAHM has to be one of the toughest jobs there is.  You never get a break and you are always on.

Lack of sleep is catching up with me today.  I feel terrible!  Kind of crazy the effects that long-term sleep deprivation has on your body.

Hmmmmm, I am not sure where my husband is.  He's active duty Navy and deployed.  I think his ship is in Guam right now but headed out to sea on Sunday.  I can't keep up with him.

And thank you for your contributions to our military and our country. The importance of families should never be overlooked.
