Originally posted by DaveL just a quick check in. Things are super busy with the new job. I am in class for 4 months at Nuclear power school which is turning out to be fairly intensive. Who knew nuclear science would be a somewhat difficult subject? Class starts at 8am and I pretty much put a hard limit and quit at 8pm after studying. I am trying to put in some bike work outs here and there but I am fairly drained most of the time. I am also going back and forth between work and home on the weekends to pack and be with my family. The great news is that this will be my last weekend of traveling as we are getting the new place next Wednesday. The hope is after the move, unpacking and all that FUN! things might move towards some semblance of normality.

Nuclear science is difficult?  No doubt you will succeed, it sounds like you are very dedicated to the task.  That's great news that you will be in your new place soon and not have to be away from the family and normal routine.  Good luck!

Ice hockey

lots of Candians endorse ice hockey, too. My hubby built an ice rink in our backyard this year - the weather's been up and down but we'll have good skating weather for him and my daughter this weekend

Ususually, i also say running! I've trained for several March races as well as a spring marathon and surprisingly running outdoors all winter isn't so bad when you're prepped for it - and have buddies to run with.  Getting fresh air, even super cold, is good for the spirit!

Thanks Sean but I doubt I'll have time. I'm leaving from Dallas tomorrow morning and don't expect to get there until late tomorrow afternoon. If I'm up for it Sunday morning I'll PM you but with my 7 month pregnant wife I have a feeling I'm relegated to the hotel gym if I can even swing that. Rain check for sure. I need to run with you to pick up on some of your speed/efficiency!

Lolz

We're lucky to have moved to a pretty great climate.  Gets a bit hot in the summer, but all in is awesome.  In the good cold days (wow, what a bad pun), we would endure the winter by... dressing for it and getting outside!  No bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

In truth, there were a lot of runs on the 'mill and rides on the drainer, but we'd tog up and run/ride in almost any degree of cold, as long as there was no ice (bike) or a semblance of a path (run).  Got chilly, but we just went.

On the days we couldn't:  put on a pot of chili in the morning, workout inside (sometimes a run and a ride to break it up and get a good one in, or go to the pool), build a fire, grab a beer, watch football (or a cheezy  movie) and eat chili!  LOTS of Sundays passed happily enough like that.

(all that said, this weather is waaaaaay better)

Matt

Go Janyne and Sue!!!

My race got moved back a week due to insufficient police officers with the superbowl in town this weekend. Unfortunately I'll be out of town next weekend and can't race it.

So at this point I'm pretty set on racing myself tomorrow morning, but I've got a slight knee niggle so may bail if it starts to get weird.

Go racers! I'm a horrible mom. My daughter woke up with a low grade fever and one of the first few thoughts was that I'd be able to get in a longer workout since we can skip her basketball game. She really is otherwise feeling fine

This made me giggle. I can't find a thing wrong with it. So.... did you get your longer workout in?

looks like we got a case of the Mondays going on with the POD.

I definitely knew it was Monday when I poured my protein shake all over myself getting into my truck after swim this morning. That was fun.

Sounds like it.

I'm recovering from a mysterious back spasm that had me fairly laid up yesterday.
