I don't think we have done a bike p0rn post in awhile. Post pic's of your bike. Even if you do have a fancy one on order, lets see what everyone is riding, lol it can be on the trainer if that is where the bike is currently sitting. I will take pic's of mine tonight when I get home. If you have multiple bike, post them as well. Hey, no one posted their pics! This is my new baby! Bad picture angle but our house is a mess right now. The weather is supposed to be incredible this weekend, but I am going to wait until after the marathon, December 6th. Ah, the temptation! SWEET!!!!!!!!! presidio is calling you! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() fattyfatfat - 2009-11-25 11:18 PM JHagerman - 2009-11-25 8:55 PM I like bike pron! Here's Lola at my last race: drink some water the night before and you won't have to carry 3 bottles for 14 mile ride. Yeah no kidding. I actually stick to a basic plan of my fav bottled water the week before a race and I drink at least 2 liters a day. Too much more than that I get headaches from the sodium displacement and I don't like trying to supplement that right before a race. But going from Michigans 50-60 degree peak October temperatures to Nevada's morning temps of 80-90 and knowing that I was going to get a butt kicking climbing the hills - I figured that an extra pound of water wasn't going to affect my performance negatively. And I didn't feel too awkward as they were running a half there too ![]() OK so on a more serious note: I'm mapping out my training plan for next year. Of course, I am planning it to peak a few weeks before my 2 week Peak (and then a 1 week taper). So here's the basic layout. 8 Weeks Prep - Nov 29-Jan23 -- High Frequency, Short Duration (Prevent [and Carve off] those extra Holiday pounds), Low Volume. 16 Weeks Base - Jan24-May15 -- High Frequency, Moderate Intensity and Moderate to High Volume. 6 Weeks Build - May 16-June26 -- Moderate Frequency, High Duration, Heavy Intensity (Critical Volume the Week of June 6 and/or June 13). 3 Weeks Peak/Race/Taper - June27-July16 -- Moderate Frequency, Short Duration, Low Volume. I'm trying to determine my exact weeks for Critical Volume. But I'll try to have a specific focus each month just to keep things fun: March on VO2 Max Training; April on Lactate-Threshold Training; May on Power; June on VO2 Max/Critical Volume; July on Taper and Recovery. But this will set me up for a great early season local sprint tri in May and I'll have just finished my post race recovery in time for an August Oly. Maybe toss in another Oly somewhere in June and I think that's my season. Help me tear this apart. I'm looking at a BT 20 Week Plan that would run from Feb28-July16. Obviously I'll have to edit the plan a bit during the final push for the Build Phase, but I think I'm on track for a well planned training. I almost feel like I'm jumping the gun, but to get the plan to work for me and the planned HIM, I'm limited for time. The Prep Phase will be much less structured, especially the first 4 weeks due to Christmas and New Years (and "The Snip" December 28th - yikes). Is anyone else starting to set up training plans for next season yet? Edited by JHagerman 2009-11-25 11:26 PM |

Yes they do, just not the same day: Thanksgiving Day in Canada is celebrated in much the same way as in the United States. It was formerly celebrated on the last Monday in October. But in 1957, the Canadian government proclaimed the second Monday in October to be the holiday.

your post states Canada is the only other country that celebrates thanksgiving. that is not accurate. and i think we've hashed out that the boys up north eat some turkey or bald eagles or something. |

Lunch and dinner = One big pot luck of naughty food.Has anyone had problems with their garmin in fog? I went for a run this morning and I'm pretty sure I ran only 6 ish miles but the garmin said 10. It also said I averaged less than 5 min miles. Maybe I just need to run in Boston fog more often. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! Suzy, as I understand it, I think that for the VO2 Max Training I am conditioning myself to faster/farther/longer. The VO2 Max Effort stage is the Critical Volume stage, so yes, all 3 sports. I think I'll end up with about a 20-25 hour week at 8k swim, 275m bike and 15-20m run. I need to see if this is a 1 week thing or a two week gig. Right now I'm just getting the dates planned. The actual workouts are still being built. I'm looking at a BT plan that I would alter the specific workouts/days to fit my bigger plan. Does this make sense?? |

Easy you guys, settle down now ![]() Linda, we DO NOT get today and tomorrow off. I took the days off as we tend to trade around the NYMEX holidays. And i found this on the web somewhere: Other Countries' Days of Thanksgiving CelebrationsHere are some other countries that also have set aside days to give thanks.
Japan, Labor Thanksgiving Day, November 23.
Korea, Chusok, 15th day of the eighth lunar month of the traditional Korean calendar.
Mexico, Independence Day, September 16th.
Switzerland, The Federal Day of Thanks, Penance, and Prayer, 3rd Sunday in September. Other Countries' Days of Thanksgiving CelebrationsHere are some other countries that also have set aside days to give thanks.

My white saddle after a year is still very clean. Had a good race, this AM. 22 and some change. LOL ran the first mile in 6:45 and couldn't catch the 10 year old in front of me. I kept waiting for him to fade but never did, he just pulled away. nice job. now you know how i feel, well its not just the 10 year olds, it pretty much everyone. ;-) freakin' awesome day down here. got a nice ride in and a short run. birds in the oven!!! edit... you might have a fire hazard with all that stuff on top of the radiator. But maybe Boston fog is more dense than SF fog ![]() I did a 5 mile run this morning to start the day off right! Now it's time to get the ovens started ![]() Oh, last night there wasn't anything on TV after we watched last week's episode of "dexter" omg, love that show! Oh, sorry, sidetrack! Anyhow they had this "biggest loser, where are they now? show" and they started showing one contestant who went on to do a full Ironman and finished under 13 hours...amazing story and very inspiring... and then they showed a previous winner "Matt" who somehow got to go to Kona and he missed cutoff by 3 minutes...still very inspiring. The thing that I found interesting is that he is being interviewed and says "this is the hardest thing in the world to do" And I thought about it. Yes Ironman is super hard, but it is a choice you make, to train for it, live the lifestyle and complete a goal. But there are way harder things that people have to go through often through no choice of their own, like living in a war torn country or religious persecution or growing up in poverty or without certain freedoms that I think many of us take for granted. Super thanks to my grandparents for immigrating to this country so that I could grow up with so many choices and without fear of persecution. Good to keep things in perspective. ![]() Happy Thanksgiving everyone! |
