Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread triseattle - 2010-05-29 11:12 AM I think it is too, somewhere between 18-22 (that is a big window). If I remember correctly, the one big hill going out towards "the point" is the only major hill in the entire run course, correcto? And, we only run a portion of that hill (twice) before we turn around. Don't worry about cutoff times - everyone is going to rock it. Does anyone know how they decide what your race number is? I'm curious, as one of my brothers (yes, same lastname) and I signed up at the same time and another brother of mine signed up about 20 hours after we did...wondering if we will be close to each other in transition? Hope the training is peaking in a couple of weeks . It goes by age so all the 28 year olds A to Z last names then the 29 year olds or that is how that has worked in past. In the past numbers start with pros, then community fund, then youngest men to oldest men then youngest women to oldest women. |

Expert 1006 Kansas City, MO | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread ericd256 - 2010-05-29 12:39 PM BAOWOLF i tried the walk .5 run 1.5 method also and have switched to time. run 8 minutes walk 2 minutes. it seems a whole easier on my body and it is easy to keep track of. Just something for you to think about or try. I am carrying 1 spare tube 2 cartridges with the same in SN bag. 2 bottles of infinit on x wing 1 aero water bottle and 1 bottle of water on downtube. some power gel blast and then the rest off the course. while on my run yesterday i had a vision of me crossing the finish line and my finishing time. If that time is correct its 9 minutes faster than what i was thinking. As long i can beat 16:59:59 i will be happy. my legs are killing me going into this last weekend of training. I have 120 mile ride and 1 hour run planned for sunday and 2.5 hour run for monday. My quads already feel like they have gone 80 miles. I have lost 80 pounds so far so i am happy as hell about that. from 322 on 1/3/07 to 241.8 on 5/28/10. I had set a race goal of 235 so i may make it I am now having thoughts about what to race in. I was given a DeSoto trisuit for christmas but i look like an over stuff sausage in it. However while running there is no muffin top like there is if i wear a tri top. I am thinking aboutwearing tri shorts and tri top for swim/bike and switching to running shorts and favorite run shirt for run. I am bringing all options of clothing on the trip. 80 lbs down!! NICE WORK ERIC!! Yesterday finished a 4000m swim and 6:30 hour (105 mile) bike and 30 minute run in 90 degree heat. My legs are feeling it as well, were close just push through on Sunday, its all GRAVY!! Nail your nutrition, I screwed up yesterday and lost 8 lbs during the workout, 191 at the start and 183. Got through it but I have read you should lose no more than 2 and a half percent of your body weight during an event.. Good luck today, know probably everyone training for CDA has a big weekend of training going on.... |

Pro 3705 Vestavia Hills | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Glad to see that I am not the only one suffering through these workouts! Did 115 miles with 7903' of climb in 6:30 followed by a very ugly t-run ... and am now off to the pool to do 2x2000m at t-pace with 60" rest, followed by a 2 hour pyramid trainer ride (30 minutes each at Z1, Z2, Z3 and then Z2). Decidedly not excited about it! We're almost over the hump and into taper time ... good training to all! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Nice workouts... I did 100 mile bike, 5000 elevation gain, and a short 3 mile brick run (I am feeling the late bike build in my shoulders, back and neck for sure). Today a short 2800 pyramid swim thing and then hopefully a decent 13 ish mile walk/jog. I realllly need to be able to do this workout without issues so I can get one or two more longer run builds before CDA... so I am going to church before the run 8). Everyone is doing awsome! |

Veteran 237 WA | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Didn't get much biking in this week, one 50 miler, but lots of running. Had a nice 3 hour 16+ mile run today. Not having many jitters for some reason. Last time I was pretty wound up by this point. Feeling pretty relaxed this time around. Keep up the good work everyone. Almost there. |

Member 15 Spokane | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread I thought I would drop a note about the "pit-stop" on rim rock road. I took a moment to look at the signs yesterday. It looks like it is, at least co-sponsored by Mountain View Cyclery located on Government Way in CDA. I have used the pit-stop and appreciate it very much. I was happy to drop a little $$ in the donation can. I just thought Mountain View deserved a shout out. I also want to thank Fitness Fanatics in Spokane Valley. The whole staff has helped me so much in getting ready for Ironman. If you come to town try to stop and see them. The are a Cervelo dealer and have a great inventory of Tri-bike gear, clothes, and nutrition. |

Extreme Veteran 483 San Diego | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Hey everyone - just less than 4 weeks now! Hope you all had a great long weekend of training. About 13 hours here, including an 111-mile solo ride with more than 4500' of climbing and a choppy 3-mile OWS. Still not getting much run mileage in, but 12 this morning didn't feel too bad. Planning a 20-miler for Sunday. It hit me today that before this month I had never done a ride longer than 82 miles. Now I've done four 100+ rides - all in the month of May. Funny how the 70/80 mile rides are now the "short" option. May totals: 9 hours in the water (mostly OWS ~15 miles) 36 hours on the bike (~630 miles) 10 hours on the run (~80 miles) |

Veteran 142 Wrong Beach, CA | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Finished my last 100 miler (of 4 in the last 5 weeks) on Saturday, with a nice hellish headwind for the last 20 miles and finally got in a good 2 mile OWS on Sunday. Cranked out another 50 miles on the bike this afternoon. No running this weekend - still nursing some tendinitis in my achilles and some PF in my right foot. Glad this month is over - I can switch back to shorter, higher intensity bike for the next couple of weeks, and get my swim back where it needs to be. I'm as ready as I'm gonna be...counting the days til I pack up the Element and head North... Hope everyone had a great weekend of training... -John |

I laugh when I look at this to think there are only 31 days in May.... which for me equated to more than 2 hours of working out everyday... I know many of you will do waaaaaay more, I just find it comical. Wife and I both feel great, one more tough week and the taper starts!! Now I am just praying for good weather on the 27th!!

Who do you work for and are they hiring? And does your wife have a sister? Yeah, no doubt. Those numbers are unreal. 200+ miles running in the month? 1,100 mile biking!? Swimming seems normal to me, but those run and bike numbers. . .wow! We expect a sub 9 out of you. |

Regular 56 | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread All things considered it was a good month with some taper and rest time built in. I had a marathon PR (3:02) which was a nice reward from all of the training during the past several months. Swim: 27,400 Yards (8.88 hours) (long swim = 3,300 yards) Bike: 601.6 Miles (35.83 hours) (long ride = 112 miles) Run: 105.4 Miles (13.35 hours) (long run = 26.2 miles) Did I really see that Lake CDA water temp is really at 52 degrees today? Just under 4 weeks... Nice work out there! Some ridiculous numbers! |

Pro 3705 Vestavia Hills | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Wow ... I think I've got the lightest numbers on the board:
That said, I still feel good. Did well at a challenging HIM earlier in the month ... but, alas, still dialing in the nutrition thing. It s?eems that once the temperature rises then what worked calorie/carb-wise through the winter months does not app?ear to work once it warms up. I am tweaking the nutrition plan to increase plain water and sodium intake. Testing it out ??this ?w?e?e?k?e?n?d? ?d?u?r?i?n?g? ? ?t?h?e? ?n?e?x?t? ?l?o?n?g? ?r?i?d?e?.? |

Veteran 185 Spokane | Subject: RE: Ironman Coeur d'Alene : Official Thread Your numbers still look great Brian. Everyone is different, that is for sure! Good idea with the nutrition. I agree. I did a 76/13.....bike/run brick this last weekend and it was about 75 and sunny outside, and I felt like I had gone about twice that distance by the time I was done. I'm hoping that a good portion of that was out of boredom . Keep up the good work everyone. Anyone else heading out from Salt Lake City, or going through there (here) on their way to CDA? |
