Tire held thankfully.  Conversation with Tina after "Did you crash?".  sigh.  I chased Elaines' butt all over that course.  We started together, they just lumped all the under 50 females together.  I out ran her the first run but we were darn close, then we leap frogged a few times on the first loop on the bike and on the second loop once she got past me again she took off.  I told her not to let me catch her.  Didn't think she'd take me so seriously.  lol  Saw her again on the run and let her know I was coming for her but I had nothing.  I went out too hard for sure on the first run.  I don't have 5k legs at the moment.  So May will be about intensity I think.  I already know I am going short for May so I'm going to work on my 5k fitness.  It was awesome racing with Elaine though, added some extra sponk to the race.  It is a little harder to do that in long course racing.  Anyways 2:11:26 total time, run1 25:58, bike 1:11:44, run2 31:32 (I know I know) and t1 1:11, t2 1:04.  Probably be a while before I do a race report cause I have to finish packing the house tonight and head on up to Payson tomorrow with pets in tow.

Glad to hear the tyre held out, sounds like a good race.

Kim - awesome  job today! I love the "Did you crash?" one of my best training buddies asks me sh*t like that all the time as he crushes me on the bike and then waits for me at the next stop sign. I find it to be incredibly motivational, don't you?

I also raced today and had to talk said buddy into racing as well - we are doing a tough HIM next Sunday and I just wanted to blow the dust off - he was not really excite about that. Turns out I shouldn't have talked him into it as he knocked me off the Master's podium and I wound up with 1st in AG (which is sketchy due to the whole masters thing - he and I were 1&2 in our AG). In the end I got a gold medal and he got a bronze, which is really all that matters, right???  Laughing

Plus you get to say that you were 1st and he was only 3rd Tongue out

Had an interesting run this morning in winds averaging 29mph with gusts of 38! Trying to run uphill in 38mph gusts is almost impossible as the wind kept bringing me to almost a complete stop. Of course, on the plus side, the run back was much easier having the wind push me uphill.

60 very hard miles yesterday, basically, if anyone is familiar with Strava, they have KOM segments made by other riders, so i printed a loop out and decided to go and try to claim KOM's.  The unfortunate thing is my dog chewed up my garmin 500, so i had to use my iphone, the satellite communication was not the best, the garmin is much better.  it ended up not recoding almost half the segments i attempted.

I did get 60 miles worth of 5-10 min intervals though, and by the end of the ride i was soft peddaling cause my legs wanted to cramp sooooo bad, lol!!!

hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

Nice job at the races ladies!  My first multisport race was a duathlon and have not done one since although I would like to.

Rudy:  Nice ride!  I like that.

I got up early this morning to ride.  Due to the low temps (35) I opted for the trainer even though I would much rather do my longer ride outside.  I hate waiting until later in the day to ride as there is always the chance something will come up and ruin my plans.

It actually went pretty good.  2:15 total with main set as 5x10' @89-94%FTP.  Legs were pretty rubbery getting off the bike.  Nice thing about the trainer is its efficient.  2:15 of nonstop spinning and no stoplights.  The scenery is another story .

Daughter had her 1st Bday party yesterday so was not able to get anything done.  She destroyed her cupcake and her dress LOL.  It was bath time after that.

Thanks for the well wishes!  The race went better than expected, beat my previous best for this race by a little more than five minutes and set an overall PR for the half by about a minute and a half!  Pleasantly surprised!

1:44:51 for the official time.  Maybe a shot to break 1:40 in the fall?

Nice job Ken.

No workouts for me today.  Spent the morning cleaning and packing then driving to Payson.  Nice little house.  Think nice cabin in the woods.  That'll be home for the next couple of years.  My run tomorrow should be interesting, I just gained another 2000 ft vertical.  At about 5000ft+ now

Anyone have any burning questions they want discussed?

Is the new Ridely Scott film "Prometheus" and actual prequel to his 1979 masterpiece "ALIEN" or not. it's killing me.

Not really a burning queston but one that I'll have to work out eventually.  I'm going with a "live off the course" mentality.  Logistically how do you do that on the bike from start to finish?  Do you just buy ahead of time what the course is using to start out and load your bike up in transition?  When you're exchanging bottles, how exactly does that work?  Are they just giving you a bottle with a cap at the bike aid stations then you figure out how to deal with it?  This is one of those logistical things I can't quite sort out.  I've never used a bike aid station so I have no frame of reference.

First of all, good for you for adopting the easiest nutrition strategy. My suggestion would be to start the ride only with what you need for the first half hour or so as opposed to loading up on things that in an IM you will have the opportunity to get every 7 miles or so. You will be given a bottle which will have a cap and should be opened, although sometimes volunteers will mess up and hand you a bottle not opened yet. These bottles of water and Perform will fit in your existing cages, so just jam them in on keep on truckin'.

Bryan - I can give a definitive answer to that, but you have to be willing to sign a 37-page non-disclosure agreement first.

Yep - one of the top 28 reasons to do an IM branded race is that you can go into it light. There is so much aid on the course you can actually set your bike up like you are racing a sprint, and plan the run like you are running a neighborhood 10k. Unless you have really demonstrably-special nutritional needs, there is really no need to carry much on the bike and run.
