sdalessio - 2011-01-05 5:14 AM So Early AM Accountability Call - who was up early?

I was of course since I'm asking.  Tongue out  I was up before 5am after a few short hours of sleep for Masters practice.  Last night packing for our trip and trying to settle down 2 wild, excited children.

I'm up!!! Eating my granola... and now it's off to the Y!

Kyla, you are not the holder of that Megamillions ticket sold in Washington?  Surprised

Eh.  Our $$$ are in that pot.  First time ever...we caught the fever and sent the kids down to buy tix.  Note that the winner isn't in California - so hubby's at work today.  We promised the kids $1 million each and a day off school if we won.  Zach was really crossing his fingers - he had an algebra test today.

Well, I was not up at 5 am which was when my alarm was set for but I did get myself back in the water for a swim.  First time since Sept!  Week 1, Day 1 of 0-1650 and I think it went pretty well.  I do want to get some type of coach/swim analysis done soon though.  Need to sort through some recs I've gotten.

After my swim I had my bike fitting.  He's recommending Felt, cervelo, and QR. I already feel faster. BTW, does 1.5 hrs on the computrainer during the bike fit count as a workout?

GL at Disney Sam and Tony!  We just booked hotel and airfare for our first family trip to WDW in Oct.  I'm planning on running the Epcot Wine and Dine 1/2 mary.

Favorite training gear?  probably my Nike 1/4 zip dryfit top. But that's probably b/c I don't have a ton of gear yet.

sdalessio - 2011-01-05 7:44 AM Thanks gang!  We hope to have fun and enjoy the week.

Sounds like a lot of hard core training is starting up.  Stay strong and stay healthy.  And remember the early morning workouts will all be worth it at the finish line.

My favorite workout item - my pink oh so soft, comfy and non-chafing sports bra.  For some strange reason I only have one of that brand and I always look for it on long runs.  I should really buy some more.

Don't wait, the sooner you get a swim coach, the better you will be!  The dollars are relatively minor for the gains made (much better than the cost/advantage gained ratio from moving to tri-bike from a road bike...)

Linda

wow!  you are my hero.  My one and only time I went running before the sun came up, a coyote ran right by me not even .5 mi in to my run.  He spooked me enough to stick to primarily daylight hrs.

No bike porn yet......still on the wait list for a Specialized Transition.  Trying to decide when i'll chuck the list into the wind and pay full retail for something else.

For those of you on IM plans....or still working on base before starting your IM plan.....how much are you swimming per week?

Agreed but I think that while my swim endurance is in the toilet right now my form is decent.  I was a swimmer when I was a wee lass and had great coaches.  My bike on the other hand is an ill fitting piece of crap from 1988.

Solid workout clothing so far!  Being a soccer player, I always swore by Adidas because it was really the only good soccer brand growing up.  Then when I got to college, I randomly decided to order a pair of Nike cleats, and they were the best things ever!  I slowly made the transition.  Now, I'm a Nike girl, totally.  It's just about all I'll buy.  I just bought a Nike Element running hoodie, and it honestly makes me so happy just to put it on because I know I won't be cold during my runs!  But I'm also obsessed with all my workout clothing, so it's impossible for me to pick a single favorite item.

Good news, too!  I GOT A SWEET INTERNSHIP FOR THIS SEMESTER!  I'll be working for a professor at our school who is also an athlete agent, which is my dream job!  Now I'm itching to get out of this darn job, but I'm stuck 'til the 28th.

Suzy - Thanks for letting me know that Racine only goes around the zoo!  That was my driving force (I'm an animal person to a fault).  So that makes me feel better about DC.

Does any Wisconsin-ite here know of a good swim coach in the Milwaukee area?  I may need some outside help in getting up to 1.2 miles for July!

Not exactly sure except it's Eastern Mountain Sports brand.  I looked on the website and couldn't quite tell which one.  It has held up really well over the 2+ years I've had it and super supportive.

Well I just made a tenative deal for a practially new Cervelo P1 48cm bike from a woman in Florida that Tried it and didn't like the tri bike. She upgraded rims and put about 100 miles on the bike and is done with it. Back to a road bike.

I am in Canada and my buddy is going to Florida Scuba diving the end of the month and picking it up so I will have pictures soon once I truely find out it is MINE all MINE.

I already had one deal but shipping was 80 bucks until I said yes, and the woman then somehow declared it to be $380. So I had to pass. She was upset but she didn't get a proper quote so I feel bad she had the bike packed up but. But $380 also seems a bit high to me. I think she was attempting to get more $$$ for her bike then it was worth.

Anyways $1400 for a 2010 Cervelo P1 with upgraded Easton wheels with 100 miles on it seemed like a good deal to me.

I know...I know...I was just hoping I was wrong.  I hate having a coach.  I'm a little hard headed (duh!) but even when I was swimming I could never get my timing just right so I'll put the dog on a leash for a little while and give it a shot.

I'm in law school at Marquette University right now.  I chose Marquette because it has one of the best, if not the best, sports law programs in the nation, and it's only one of 2-3 law schools you can get a Sports Law Certificate from.  I just love working in sports.  It's an awesome feeling!

I also did my undergrad in Sports Management, along with a Marketing degree to give me some more appeal to law schools.

Where is your daughter going to school?  And what does she want to do with her degree?  Those are some pretty awesome internships she's got!  I worked for a few sports teams in college (semi-pro, pro, and high school), and I'm hoping to work for a big retail company's legal department in the fall (I don't like to name names or talk too much about it because I don't want to curse myself). *crosses fingers*  I don't graduate 'til May 2012 though, so I've got lots of time in school still.  Ick.

She'll graduate from Universty of the Pacific in May, then planning on grad school at Cal State Long Beach.  Law school was on her agenda, but something changed in the last few months.  Maybe it was homework(!?!)  final plans include Media Relations or Athlete Representation.  We'll see!  She's overcome a lot, was a pretty talented high school athlete and fought through (and continues to deal with) a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease, and really wants to stay active in athletics.  We're proud of her - can't wait to see what the future brings.

velcromom - 2011-01-05 2:49 PM No bike porn yet......still on the wait list for a Specialized Transition.  Trying to decide when i'll chuck the list into the wind and pay full retail for something else.

For those of you on IM plans....or still working on base before starting your IM plan.....how much are you swimming per week?

I thought you had connections at Specialized??  Doesn't that get you up on the list?

Yes....but on the EMPLOYEE list......so way down past the rest of the world.  65% off retail, however, has and will keep me waiting for a while.

Will you marry me? 65% off would be sweet.

B?igamy's a problem in California.  And since it's HIS side of the family with the connection...meh.
