Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD ebshot - 2012-04-20 9:19 PM I got up this morning and said to myself, "it's a perfect day for a run. Get off your rump and go." So, after the kids got on the bus I laced up my shoes and hit the pavement. What a wake up call. My little two mile run HURT! But it's a starting point. And a starting point is INFINITELY more than zero. YES! |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD Good morning. I planned to get up and swim this morning, and I couldn't do it. When I finally did get up, I noticed that I have a very sore throat -- I'm hoping it's just due to allergies. I don't need sickness again. My 11 year old has a "track meet" (Just his school, so it's an elaborate PE class) this afternoon, so I have only a half day at work. He threatened to wear flip flops to school so he wouldn't have to participate. But when he came down the stairs this morning, he was dressed perfectly appropriately. My run yesterday afternoon went well. I'm hoping to get out again after the track meet. But it's cold and windy this morning, and I am showing true signs of wimping out. I hope everyone has a great day today. |

I didn't puke but that was because my legs stopped listening to me at some point. I was just hanging on for dear life towards the end. I don't ever expect I'll be as fast as some of those cyclists, even with fresh legs. I think some are cat 1 riders. Gives me another goal I guess. Along with my running. And my swimming...
And my eating habits...
Well Done man, that was an impresive outing |

I'm sorry I haven't posted more, and when I do post, it's pretty lame. It takes me so long to catch up on all the posts (partly because I'm giggling so hard at your little rants (ex: piglets on the run pretty up the place - so funny!)) that by the time I post, I've forgotten all the little comments I've thought of as I was reading! But I want to say thank you for the humor, the workouts, the great pieces of advice, the examples of tough-ness and just over all cool-ness of you all!! You're all great! Keep up the great work in this group and in LIFE!! Carry on meow! What's that you said meow? You think that's funny meow? :D And again, no worries on the catching-up ... we are just happy everybody's here and parties when they can. Do you see my drinkin milk from a saucer? Am I jumpin' from tree to tree, all nimbly bimbly? Now do you see me eating mice?! Manatees referencing Super Troopers? I love this pod even more! Have a good day meow! |

Nope. I've done two HIMs and an IM in them. All three were wetsuit legal if that makes a difference to you. I'm assuming that you'll be wetsuit legal this weekend? |

I made myself go for a run when I wanted to come home and read on my deck, AND I had a really good workout! I think the bike interval work at my computrainer class plus the coached track workouts with my running club have really improved my speed in a short 3 1/2 months! I started out "easy", which is usually around 10:00 min/mile, but today it was 9:45. Then for my second mile I was running an average 9:15! That is so good for me! It's like last week, at track, I was shooting to do my 400m repeats at 2:15s, but each lap I came around and I was at 2:08. I said, well if the legs feel like running an 8:30 mile, who am I to stop them! Now I need to teach my body to maintain that pace, because I felt like I was going to puke a little (that lovely feeling when your stomach says "stop or I"ll..." fill in the blank as to what it threatens, lol). And honestly, I thought about all of my fellow manatees and all the killer workouts they've been logging, and that's what got my butt outside to log some miles today. Thank you for the inspiration!! That is great! Just getting out there when you really don't feel like it is such a huge accomplishment. Like I have heard many people say, you never do a workout and regret it. Nice work making the Manatees proud. As I was almost driving home IN MY RUNNING CLOTHES to go do nothing, I thought about what you said in response to my awe of your running log: "In terms of running, one of the best exercises I did was to make it a goal to run every day in a month. No set distances, just get out and run." I thought, hey, listen to Adrienne, just get out there, if you feel like crap after a mile and want to stop, you can. But I knew I wouldn't |

So I had a couple race-director (and themselves very athletic) type people do me some HUGE favors, and I'd like to be able to give them a token of gratitude (along with a huge {MELON PRESS} when I see them, of course). The gifts must travel, so they need to be small. They're both young men in their 30s, and the gift needs to be available in Indonesia. I was thinking a small packet of coffee (Indonesia has the best coffees in the world--maybe even kopi luwak, which is the most expensive, not great coffee in my opinion, but nevertheless a cool novelty). Any other ideas?

Master 4452 | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Mentor Group - FULL POD Morning everyone! I had a great interval run yesterday in the POURING rain. My clothes were soaked. I ran after work, near work, because I suspect that if I had've come home first, hockey and the couch would have called louder than my running shoes! And this AM has dawned sunny. I've been to Master's swim, I don't have to be at work til later, so I am making breakfast for my honey. No other training for me today, bike and run tomorrow, and son's baseball game tonight. Good luck to the racing Manatees! Sounds like many of us have had good weeks, whether with training, insights, breakthroughs, or challenging ourselves to something new! Awesome! |

A fine cup of coffee, sure, but nothing that special and sure not worth $30. |

If you're really curious I did a little write-up of today's fesitivities in my training log. Hey that's great! I certainly wouldn't take it too hard getting passed by the guy who normally wins the thing! It's about you and your own progress anyway. I know...hard to think of it that way when you are competitive. Whatever though, 22.36 on tired legs is amazing! Every-day yer shufflin' X2 on what she said. plus i think 22.36 on any legs is amazing. |
