I got a whole lotta training to do. In for the full!!! :D

Which race was this?

Pikes Peak. I'm bringing in 40 with a bang...or a crash

Got it.  I didn't realize there was a full option.  Yikes, I think going back down would be as painful or more so than going up and more dangerous

Yes! It's a pretty treacherous descent by the descriptions I've read. They do the Ascent on Saturday and the full on Sunday (1800 people vs 800 on the trail).

Since you're doing the full, does that mean you won't be brewery hopping (ahem) with us on Saturday night?

I'm in for the Ascent... oh chit...

Yay! Told J I'm excitedly petrified. That's good, right? Lol

Woo Hoo to both of you (Erin and TJ)!!  Excitedly petrified sounds about right!!

Guess I'd better make plans for where to be to help you most.  Maybe around mile 5?

Salty, did you get in?  Erin, is J racing it too (either the half or full)?

No word from her?

J is doing the full "with" me.

1800 spots in the Ascent...they were reporting 6000 people "looking" at the race about 15min ago. lol

That seems pretty optimistic

I think we'll work on meeting up somewhere early on in the hop.

That option ^^^ leaves the "kit" issue pretty simple.

<------ she's still alive - sorta!

I've been horrible keeping up with daily events. Thanks especially to Janyne and Chris for checking in on me!!!

4 weeks from today and I'm a free woman - and for $(*&%Q sake get your tax return done before 4/15!!

also - update for anyone interested on my acid issue......I feel 100% better since I started eating a banana in the am before swimming or spinning. But in the meantime my biopsy came back with like the precursor for Barrett's esophagus - basically there's some damage so to limit it I'm on 40mg Omeprezole a day now. SO - all in all certainly not horrible. I'm glad I got the endo - and I can look forward to another one in a year! (Best nap I had).

Carry on........and keep up the good work all. I'm here and peeking in although I don't post much....... 4 weeks......

Been at the shareholder's meeting all day. Are any of you investors? The annual meeting is always really good and this one was no exception.

This was the first year I volunteered and it was a really good experience. Most everyone was really great but one woman, while stomping her foot, told us to earn our keep and find her a seat. LOL

On yeah, miraculously, with spotty 3G cell service in the shareholder meeting, I'm in for the ascent.

I assume you're talking about SBUX? right?  I don't have holdings outside my mutual funds but I probably should the way my wife spends money there.  I like to invest in companies that I like and have personal experience with like Alaska Air, Tim Horton's, Callaway (when I used to golf), etc. Does one get any special perks as a shareholder?

Glad you're on the mend. I'm currently on a course of pills for GERD also. Awaiting results back from a sample checking for some kind of bacterial infection. Looks like the pain I was getting in my chest may have been stomach acid burning my lungs brought on by sustained threshold worm.

That's interesting on your foot. Have you done a bike fit? Did they mess with the cleats w/spacers to get your feet and legs set up right on the pedals? Might be worth checking that.

I refit every couple of years.  I have a cyclocross bike with a different shoe and cleat system so I may see if I have similar issues with that setup.  If not, I'll talk to my fitter specifically about this.  I have a huge power imbalance due to nerve damage in one of my legs and it is the good leg that is causing me problems.  I mash pretty hard on the trainer so might be putting disproportionately high stress on the good foot.  I ride outdoors with higher cadence and less hard grinding so that might help too.

Sounds similar in some ways to things I get at times too. For me it's through the joints where the toes attach. Not hot spots like blister formation, but it can hurt inside. It comes from the same observations you've had. More mashing direction, so higher force with longer application times brings it on more. I don't know how to get rid of it entirely but have had somethings help. I've avoided narrower shoes as well. Breaking up the rhythm at times helps some. The trainer might bring it more because people tend to make those rides more monotonous. It takes longer for this to show in a hilly Wisconsin ride even though I ride harder there vs a flat one in the more local area. Especially when doing something like going into the wind. At times I'll also consciously pick my feet up just slightly off the pedals in the recovery parts of the stroke. Then sometimes this just isn't enough and I'll stop, getting off the bike. Maybe take shoes off a bit and work the sore areas.

As I understand PF, what you're feeling might be different, but some of these things can help relieve some of the pressure applied. Even if just a little. Definitely talk with the fitter to see if they have any other ideas too.

WOW they still haven't gotten to the bottom of that? I hope this is the end - and I hope a quick round of atbs (or some drug) gets rid of that bug!!!

I have stiff inserts for my bike shoes to provide support.  They help me a lot.  They are the kind that are used for hockey skates, I'm told.

Looks like almost a stem's worth.

Why should the stem be flipped?
