157.2 this morning.  About the same as last week.

May will be a bit of a roller coaster for me as I'll be doing a bunch of shorter races with a HIM sandwiched in near the end.  Should be fun though.

Something tells me I need to catch up with some good Tri Talk threads.  I was good up until the $500 bike part, but I'm getting lost in the autograph posts...  LOL

There's a good one in Iron Talk about buying IM race numbers and such

Amazing entitlement issues going on

All mentor group members are entitled to a slight discount on my autographs. Slight.

LOL...it was pretty easy to figure out what was going on.  I saw the $500 bike thread when it was on it's first page...and when you see it blow up to 5 pages, you know something happened.

Now...that being said, as my bike improves, my goal is to not let you beat me on your road bike while I'm in a full race setup.  So hopefully in the near future, I won't even need your autograph...LOL.

Well,  I'm experiencing unemployment for the first time.

Got called into HR for my 30 day review. I was told my boss wasn't satisfied with my performance so far. He wasn't in the meeting and hadn't told HR why he wasn't satisfied. In fact, he's been on vacation since Wednesday. On Wednesday, he said he'd be back Tuesday and he'd finally be able to get involved with my work and he felt bad that he hadn't been yet.

I was handed my final paycheck and escorted out of the building.

Eff that place.

Just found out that my training group is in the process of setting up plans to go back to Miyako-jima (Okinawa Japan) in 2014 for Strongman's 30th anniversary.  They went in 2009 for the 25th anniversary, just before I started training with them.  Sounds like a lot of fun.  It's not quite an full distance race, but 1.9 swim, 96 bike, and a full marathon.

I do have 1/4 Okinawan blood, so it would be a pretty special race for me especially to do with many of my training friends.

Sorry to hear...

But in the end, in an ideal world, employment should be a two way street.  You of course need to get paid, but you would also like to enjoy what you do.  Hopefully better opportunities will present themselves.

Oh, Elaine - that truly stinks. How are your prospects? More time for coaching and training at least? Or does this "unexpected turn of events" impact that negatively as well?

Wow Elaine, that sucks.  If I am going to lose my job during a review for "performance" reasons I expect it to be laid out to me as to what issues there were and wouldn't expect the first time I hear of an issue be the day of the review.

Hope you find something interesting and better soon.

40k TTT coming up this weekend.

Rusty...thanks for the inspire...to answer your question...I'm pretty terrified about this weekend and for the first time I feel a little in over my head.

Recent defections of stronger riders in our club has moved me up to our "A team".  There are some pretty high expectations considering our club has won overall 3 years running.  I really just don't know what to expect as we haven't practiced as a full team very much.  I'm confident in my handling abilities in a TT bike paceline...just not sure how hard the pace is actually going to be when the big guns are up front and I'm hanging on for dear life int he back.

Jason - you are going to kill it - I cannot imagine anything more painfully fun! I for one really look forward to hearing all about it. I'll bet this opportunity is going to step up your game big-time.

Jason, it sounds like you are in for a painful weekend.  Why does that also sound so fun?

This is the one motivation I have.  At our end of season club party last year, I was given the award of most improved rider.  So naturally I have some incentive to validate myself as the "new blood".

Fact of the matter is though...that our team leader (the one who has not defected) likely expects us to run about 50-52 minutes...or about 29-30 mph avg.  I can hang in the draft of that type of paceline with no wind.  The problem is that there will be wind, and at some point I will need to do a few pulls if we expect to hold that speed as a team.

Run:7h 49m 28s  - 50.66 Mi
Swim:

6h 00m 40s  - 16000 M

Little short on bike miles, the run was on target till the injury, and i am happy with the swim.

goals for May, vacation is gonna mess it up a bit, as i will have no bike for two weekends

bike 500 miles

run 75-100m and not re injure myself, increase run frequency, not distance.

swim 30k meters.

I will be in Marco Island from May 5-12, i will run and swim everyday, i will not be logging, but i will catch up when i get home on the 13th or 14th.

I have been completely away from BT for the past 3-4 days and it looks like I have missed a lot. Bad time of the year for me with trying to get the school year wrapped up and quite a few other irons in the fire. Very sorry to here your news Elaine. That really, truly sucks. Looks like a lot of people have some good training going on and others are having great races. Keep up all the awesome work and I will try to be a more frequent contributor.
