It's supposed to open any day now ... but don't worry, it won't sell out too fast. The first couple of years were crazy but it's a challenging course and there's some other 70.3's in the relative area (Syracuse, Poconos) - it didn't sell out last year and registration was available until early August, i think.

It's a great race though and you should definitely do it!  I'll be there.

It didn't sell out at all last year...numbers were down because of the Syracuse 70.3 race the following weekend.

Actually, I just tried going through it and when you pick the Register Now button on the Active page it says "Sorry: Online registration is no longer available for this event!" so their system isn't setup properly yet.

Looks like I will be registering for this event again, it was an awesome event last year and I hope we can bring the numbers back up to where it should be for an 1/2 IM.  You know, give it the respect it deserves!!!

For those who haven't done this race should at least go ride the bike portion for a training ride, it pays off come race day.

I am afraid though that the numbers may be worse this year and its going to be hard to top last years event.  For 2011, it doesn't mention even a race banquet w/ dinner where you can bring your family.  It was quoted by Lisa Bentley to be the best pre-race show/dinner for any 70.3, and it was.  I just hope they do the same thing this year.  Also, the 70.3 Championships are on the same day.  Kinda sucks!  Some people used Muskoka to qualify for that race, which you still can but not until 2012.....who knows what I'm doing a year from now....lol! Last year there was a PRO Q/A and it was awesome.  Craig A, Mirinda C, Joanna L, Paul M, etc.  I think a few of these individuals will be in Las Vegas and not Muskoka.  I guess what I'm trying to say is, I hope Lisa Bentley and the crew pull some strings and a few PRO's come out to race.  Also, I hope it sets the bar higher this year.  This will be my wife's first 70.3 and I wanted her to experience the Muskoka race, great race!!!  I wish everyone luck in training and remember to always have fun.  We will see you out there!

If you want to do Muskoka 70.3 you betterdo it in 2011, this might be the last year.  The town of Huntsville did not renew its license with WTC leaving future events in jeopardy

Oh man, that sucks!  I hope this all gets sorted out!  There is only 2 official 70.3 races in Canada and its nice to have one of them in Ontario!

This will be my first 70.3 also, although the Syracuse event is closer to me, I've decided to stay in Canada.

Begs the question - will they shop around to find somewhere to host a full iron in Ontario?  Canada needs a second one (speaking strictly for WTC events).

I thin kI've read somewhere that WTC has registered website domains that were related to Mt Tremblant.

It's still a rumour right now but who knows ???

It would be great if Mont Tremblant got a full IM, but here in Ontario Trisport (Subaru) Series is now owned by WTC and I think it would be weird if we didn't have at least one IM or IM70.3 race.

Maybe they'll make Peterborough a IM70.3? I just hope they don't give Ontario a  '5150' race and hope that satisfies us.

Anyways - I hope Muskoka 70.3 stays as it is. I did it in 2009 and though it was a wonderful location and challenging course. If its still around I will definetly do it again in 2012.

I agree, I hope Muskoka keeps a sanctioned Ironman event.  It was quoted by Craig Alexander as one of the toughest  bike courses he's ever done in the world.  That has something to say about us Canadians and the environment we can bring to a race event.  Let's hope WTC maybe shuffles some things around and doesn't have Muskoka fall on the same day as, ummm 70.3 WC.  Happy Training!!!

I will be in Muskoka this fall.

Would love it if I could have my first IM be in Canada. BC is just too expensive for travel.

For now it will have to be LP unless a full WTC IM comes to Ontario or Quebec.

I'm in for Muskoka 70.3 this year, did it the first year (2008) and suffered.  Planning to train much better for this one.

Someone please find a way to confirm a full IM in Ont or Que next year as I am planning to register for LP 2012 but would much rather stay in Canada.

Maybe a stupid question but... can't find the infos anywhere...

After the race, is there any way to take a shower to put dry clothes on or do we have to be a hotel's guest to be able to ?

Thanks

If you stay at Deerhurst you can go to your room, if not it's tough to get back to your hotel and then back to Deerhurst.

A question for those who have done this race, is it just me or does it seem to rain every year?

I have looked at pictures from the race from a couple different years and the weather looks pretty grey and rainy in all of them...

I did it in the first year (2008) and it poured rain all day (and most of the 4 days we were up there).I thought the weather was ok last year

Weather was OK last year but it did drizzle most of the day.  2/3 years it has rained but it is mid-September so not out of the norm.
