My best concert wasn't just one but a string of them when I was younger.  For months, my friends and I hit every major concert that rolled into town.  We saw Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, Heart, Ted Nugent, Foghat, Thin Lizzy, the Outlaws, Pure Prairie League, Black Sabbath.

In 1977, I remember when it was announced on the radio that Led Zeppelin tickets were going on sale.  I was a sophomore in high school and the ticket outlet was about an hour away.  My mom dropped whatever she was doing and drove me there to get tickets.  I still have the ticket stub.

Full disclosure: I was a talent buyer for a 16 nightclub/concert hall circuit in the Midwest from 1988 to 1998.

Best show: Cadillac Tramps with the Devil Dogs - rock and roll was never more alive.

Best production: pink floyd of course, Rolling Stones steel wheels,

Best small show: I say this because its true. Hands down the best small gig I ever saw, and I've seen thousands of shows that changed my religion more than once, but the best show was Yoko Ono in front of maybe 500 people. Also maybe the Pixies in 1984 in a basement "club" ..

The grateful dead - best band ever.

We saw pat benatar 2 years ago - dynamite.

We go to gigs all the time now .. Most bands are pretty good these days. The national - I like'em !

Stadium Concert:  Faith No More, Metallica, GnR on tour together, Citrus Bowl, Orlando, FL.  It was the first concert James Hetfield sang (but didn't play) after getting burned on stage.

Medium size Arena: Jimmy Buffett.  Great show every time.

Small venue: Meatloaf at the Rietz Union Hall on campus at the University of Florida.  I don't think there were 300 of us in there, but he put on a show and gave an effort like he was playing for 100,000.  A close second was when the Indigo Girls played in the courtyard outside the same place.  I had never heard of them, but a (cute) friend talked me into it.  I owned a CD that evening.

Best All Day Show - Amnesty International Concert in the early/mid 80's.  All day affair with The Nevelle Brothers, Howard Jones, U2, Sting, and a host of other bands and performers.

The lineup for that show when it got to Atlanta was: U2, briefly reformed Police, REM, Lou Reed, Neville Bros and a few others I can't remember. AND it wasn't even sold out, IIRC - hard to believe. The bands played pretty short sets but I remember having a great time.

Edit - I found a review of the show on the Police website...the other acts were Peter Gabriel and Bryan Adams and the show wasn't even close to sold out!

Worst sound/acoustics - Black Sabbath on their "Born Again" tour in St. Paul/Minneapolis.

Best Live Production/Stage Show - Pink Floyd (sans Roger Water) on the "Momentary Lapse of Reason" tour at Camp Randall in Madison, WI, and Iron Maiden (any of the 5 that I saw back in the early 1980's).

Best Small Venue - Tori Amos in Madison, WI, and Phantom, Rocker, and Slick at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, MN.

Loudest - Motorhead at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI.

Would absolutely love to see - One eskimO, Tony Bennett, Andrea Bocelli, and a younger Peter Gabriel (back in the 1980's).

Would have liked to have seen - Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Les Paul, Elvis, Luciano Pavarotti

I've seen hundreds of shows and worked more than that but the one that stands out above all others was the 90's power pop act Jellyfish. I have not seen or heard anything as impressive as they were live. Four guys, each playing one or two instruments at a time and singing perfect three part harmonies. They wrote some of the best rock/beatlesqe pop that I've ever heard. Other notables:Big show: The Police reunion tour or Rush R30. Coolest: Metallica with Cliff Burton opening for Ozzy. Most fun: Brian Setzer OrchestraBest guitar: Eric JohnsonBest vocalist: SealJT
