Nekton - 2007-08-13 8:55 AM I'm in for dinner.  Friday sounds like a good idea, although I could be convinced otherwise.  Do any veterans of the race (Jorge?) have restaurant ideas?
I think Lobster girl is a local (or knows the area better) so she might have good suggestions. I know there is a popular italian restaurant like 10 min from the race (I think it is on Rt 11 but can't remeber the name) and I know another one a bit more low key Italian place but it is in Meredith, NH, like 15 min away.

No one's going to the athlete's dinner on Fri?

I think the actual athlete's dinner for the 70.3 is on Sat, but I am not going as I rather have a simple nice meal before tha race and stay away from big crowds.

There's the one on Friday with the pros and stuff who will talk and sign autographs...not sure what they're serving (have to buy tix). And then Sat is the carbo dinner. I didn't buy tix for Fri night yet. I don't know what I am diong. I am very stressed by the whole food situation right now. I like to avoid crowds too....which is why I may not be up for a BT get together.

I recommend either The Italian Farmhouse (Jorge - was this where you were thinking?) or Lago, Lakehouse, or Camp (all Common Man-owned restaurants), all in Meredith.  None take reservations (a problem rampant in NH), but you can do call-ahead seating, so if I have a tally#, I'm happy to call around 5:00 p.m. when they open for dinner and put our group name in.

Menus listed here:

Meredith is about 20 minutes from Gilford.  A hair closer is Fratello's in Laconia: http://www.fratellos.com

My personal vote is for Friday night dinner, say 7:00/7:30ish?  Saturday night I'll be in bed VERY early.

I'm not taking my laptop, so I won't have access to BT as of Thursday AM when I travel up for the race. I might join you guys for dinner, but in all honesty, 7:00/7:30 is probably a little too late for me. I'll be in bed between 8:30 and 9 on Friday.

Hopefully, we'll have a plan set by Wed, but I won't be able to commit 100% until Friday. My mom is traveling up with me, so she will be joining us for dinner if I go. I know how to get in touch with Jorge if I need to reach one of you while up there to make plans.

Also, lobstergirl, thanks for the no reservations heads up.

I can meet as early at 6:00 p.m. for dinner, if that works better the group & Lauren.  I have to drive back home to Manchester, so I'm all for an earlier time.

Well, I vote for the place in Laconia . Only because I am staying there...

How far is Meredith from Laconia? I'll check a map when I get home I guess.

6 sounds great.  I would opt for the yummiest food, but since I haven't a clue where that is, I'll leave the decision making to you guys.

Undecided. Leading towards NO, though. I don't want to be around all that nervous energy the night before...I'm nervous enough as it is. I am coming from out of town, though, so it might end up being the most convenient dinner option for me.

The wife and I will probably be at the pasta dinner Saturday.  We won't be heading out until Saturday morning, so I have to pass on the Friday get together.  Sorry.

Mike - I think you and Jeff should definitely try to drink each other under the table Saturday night - I'll officiate.

I'll be going to the dinner with the pros on Friday (I my 10 year old wants to schmooze and get autographs), so I can't go to anything on Friday.

If someone is interested in organizing a BT section at the Saturday pasta dinner, I'd join in there.

You live, and I'm assuming also train, in a place called Rocky Hill. Do you really think this course is going to be tough for you?

Can't answer your question. I haven't done Mooseman or Timberman before...and I train in the flats . You'll be fine .

I agree with Jorge - Mooseman is tougher. There are some gnarly climbs at the beginning and end of the Timberman bike course, but you get a break in the middle for a while.
