Expert 1010 Greer, SC | Subject: RE: swbkrun Mentor Group II- CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!!! gotta run - 2010-11-06 7:11 PM John - so sorry you weren't able to run your trail race, but it sounds like you made the right decision. Eyes on the prize. Thanks everyone for tracking me. It kept me going when it started to hurt, and hurt it did - especially the last 3 miles! I would have loved to stay on pace through the end, but I'm not going to complain about a 15 minute PR (!) and a BQ by the comfortable margin of 8 seconds (!!!). I've very happy with the race, and had a great time running it (except maybe those last 3 miles). I had to stop and sit down to rest about 5 times on the 3 block walk back to the hotel, so I'm pretty sure I left it all out there on the course. WOW, I didn't know about BQing! Super Congrats! I don't know if there is a better feeling than achieving your goal because you left it all out there. Way to go. Awesome job! |

Extreme Veteran 689 | Subject: RE: swbkrun Mentor Group II- CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!!! My wife and I thought there was a shootout or something going on outside.. It's just fireworks.. I think it's the pre-race celebration for the NYC marathon tomorrow. It freaked us out a bit since no one told us about them (like they usually do) and car alarms are going off.. I guess that's what you get living less than two blocks away from the finish of the race. The loop around central park was pretty much blocked off because of the race so it made me try a new route.. I'm glad i did.. I took the bridle path and other paths around the park.. Great views I've never seen before and some good hills.. wow the fireworks are still going on.. it's been over 25 min.. the sponsors must have spent major $$ on this race.. |

This finish line is dead. Would be so anti-climactic to finish right now. Looks like there are 10 people watching. |

Subject: RE: swbkrun Mentor Group II- CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!!! It may be the video and angle, at least I hope so. At 11:00 the women's winner is going to start passing out the finisher medals...she's been there about 45 minutes hanging out. Last year I went back and it was packed......best time is the last hour. |

Kyla - I didn't wear a Garmin, so I don't know how much extra running I did, but I tried to run the tangents and not weave around too much. I did know how close I was on the time. The last 3 miles I was watching my cushion get eaten away. I kept telling myself I had worked too hard to miss it at the end, so I'd pick up the pace for a little while and then my legs would say no way. It came down to the last 0.2, and I said this is ridiculous, I have to do this, so I ran as hard as I could to the finish. Barely made it! |

Subject: RE: swbkrun Mentor Group II- CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!!! OMG, between football and a swim meet I have been gone all day. I just got home and "for fun" decided to log in and see for myself that IMFL had sold out (my plan is to sign up next year for '12). If it was sold out then it was fate that has me waiting another year. Damn, now I am really torn. I was really ok waiting until 2012...that was when I was sure it would sell out while I was busy doing kid stuff today. Congrats Barry and Chris for registering. I will be there - either to race with you or to cheer you guys on & register. Oh, what to do what to do. Edited to add: IT'S NOT SOLD OUT - hence my dilema Edited by Havin'Fun 2010-11-07 7:45 PM |
