I have to admit, I kind of steer clear of these topics. As a member of one of the more privileged demographics in society, while I am sympathetic, I feel as though my words wind up ringing a bit hollow. Which is never the intent. It was nice to see some discussion with intelligence and thought. I work for a company that is so backwards with regards to gender equality, that it sometimes hurts. Especially when I see how hard my wife and a number of other women there work. And I have two daughters, so I really hope they see things turn around in their lives. I do want to acknowledge the fact that we have come a long way in my lifetime, but goodness knows, we have a long way to go. And thank you all for your honest contributions to the discussion. I believe that these discussions will go the furthest towards creating change through understanding, so thank you again.

It sounds like we may have three Manatees participating in the CNC Mountain Ride the first weekend in August. I know that the rest of your are jealous!  Don't be that way!  Join us!  They have lots of routes and it's TBD if we are riding together or hanging out before/after together.  

I put myself on the Racing Manatee team when I registered.

I heard rumors of other new Manatee bikes.  Jen Stewey and Anne have been holding out on us!  We Need Pictures!

It's an annual event.  We'll do it again, so no worries.

So... I was looking at something.  Apparently Amazon is filming a series in Marshall, NC (Madison county) and I was reading the article about it.  Just below that article was something about CNC Mountain Ride 2022 being hosted in Marshall.

So advanced notice of next year's ride -nice! 

Reading the article on the series that will be filmed in Marshall, the thing that stood out to me was the $35/hour off-duty pay for the cops and the almost giddy excitement over that payment. That price would be considered the least you could get an off-duty cop for around here. It is always interesting to see prices in different areas of the country.

Lots of routes. Lots of good company.
