enders_shadow - 2012-12-11 1:36 PM Way to go, Jocelyn! And way to go, Speedknight! Get 'em running early! I let my then 9-year old go her own pace at a local 5K (because she's too darn fast for me). It was a race I have done a gazillion times - well run and lots of volunteers and cops - and she did fine. (And beat me by a good 5+ minutes, the little booger.)

Thanks!

Yeah... I can't see my daughter beating me.  Not that I don't think she has the ability, though.  I think she wouldn't beat me because a race to her is prime social time.  To me, it's prime kick a$$ time.  LOL

AbbieR... thanks for the "AWESOME!!"

Friday weigh-in!

I'm down about a half a pound... inching closer to my goal of 145 (and, like last week, gained 1.5 pounds and lost 2 for a net loss of .5... I'd be better if I didn't subscribe to the two steps forward, one step back method of losing weight).

I've got 2 weeks to lose 4.2 pounds!  If I stop sabotaging myself on weekends, I can do it... of course, the holidays thrown in will make it that much more of a challenge.  Training has completely slacked off, though, so perhaps if I just make an effort to work out most days, that'll push things in the right direction...

challenge time

actually two,  easy ones.

1  post what you eat on an average day, doenst have to be amount specific, just what you eat.

2  post your playlist or at least the basics what do you listen to while running/ridding.

1 I log most everything on BT but on average most days I eat a  sometimes egg sometimes protein bar for breakfast. Mid day I eat, skim cheese stick, coffee, Crystal light energy, yogurt, carrots, apple, banana.

My husband made a big pot of soup this week. I also really like grilled chicken snack wraps from McD's

2 I don't listen to anything while running or riding. I practice "mindfulness".

Friday weigh in

207.5 which is up by a pound from last week.  It was to be expected as it has become my habit to follow up a race with a week of inactivity training wise.  I like to rest my body and my mind occaisionally so I have always relaxed for the week following a race.

It will be back to the grindstone come Monday.

ETA

I did survive my own vegetarian challenge.  I didn't necessarily enjoy it...at all.  But it was a good experiment.

Friday - down to 168.2 - which is 0.2 above where I started this challenge, but down from the last couple weeks.

Unfortunately, I had a stress moment & had nachos for lunch at Moes. And now I'm sitting at my desk crying about the CT shootings...which is not helping my stress level at all.

I'm watching this stuff about CT on tv, just so sad.  My ex-hubby's sister works for the school in Newtown, thankfully she is fine, but she does an early childhood program and most likely knows a majority of the victims

We had a holiday party this weekend, so I pretty much wiped out good nutrition for the week (tons of cookies).  The good news is that I was at 155.5 this morning, down almost a pound from last week's weigh-in.

Although difficult, I am making an effort to avoid following the coverage of the CT tragedy. My heart is heavy for the community of Newtown and it sickens me to see the media salivating over this "juicy" story.

I am so very glad we never turn TV news on. I get my news via internet or newspaper. I can totally control how much I get that way.

Holiday parties this weekend for me as well. The indulgence is for wine, for me I refuse to get on the scale until my weigh in day on Wednesday. Cleaning out the diet today and tomorrow for sure!

Bringing more green juices into my nutrition plan again.  With the colder weather I want hot food rather than a cold green juice.  I have to admit the juicing is very energizing.

This weekend was parties and dates, although I did camp out for a long time in front of the carrots and hummus at the swimming party.

I am sure I am alone on this one but this month has been an absolute struggle. Between me being sick and both kids with seperate bouts of crap, endless holiday parties, and these super long days of sunlight Wink, motivation to stay on track has been a battle.

I have my good days and I have my horrible days. Trying to hang in there for a few more weeks and the mojo should flow much easier.

Silly! you are NOT alone. This entire month, matter of fact, the entire dark winter, is a struggle for me. As long as you are struggling, though, there is at least the attempt at keeping things in balance. Good news... the days get longer after this Friday, if the Mayan's were wrong

I've been losing and regaining the same 2 pounds for the duration of this challenge.  I wish now I had taken measurements as I think that would have been more motivating.  My clothes are feeling looser and I feel leaner but the scale is the same.  This morning I was 143.  Frustrating.

And I'm kind of off paleo with all the birthday celebrations this weekend - eating paleo was next to impossible.  I'll stick to clean eating and follow it still though but not as strict.  I miss beans and grains.  I will measure and monitor though as they do cause upset.  My daughter turned 10 yesterday and I feel a bit sad.  It all happens too quickly.  She's so independent now.  I told my husband we should have another one ha ha.  He was shocked to say the least!!!  I'm 42 though and he's even older so it's not really in the cards!

My brother and sister-in-law had their second when my niece was 5.  I said to him, "you are out of diapers, and sleepless nights and the Wiggles.  Now you are starting all over again?"  He got quiet and said "you're right, but with this one, we will be smarter...no Wiggles will enter the house!"

My wife turned 40 this summer, our youngest turned 4, I turned 45 this fall and I thought we were done.  Sometimes I am still trying to come to grips with the idea of a new baby coming the end of May Surprised.

Don't rule out the possibility

A bunch of parents at my child's school had a second when the first was 4-5 and they said it was great.  The little one is old enough to help out a bit.  My kid doesn't even help care for her dog or frog so I doubt she'd be of any help with a baby!!

I am not doing well with keeping up posts here.  My weight hasn't really changed.   I was sick on the weekend and didn't eat for 2 days but stayed the same.  Only 2 more weeks of the year, will not meet my lose goal but didn't gain anything.

Rough week for keeping up on the s/b/r...  I did manage to get some bike commuting in, but kinda fell off the wagon for running.  On a bright note, I did make some progression on school work.  Once the new year starts, I'll have access to a gym again and will start getting some swimming in.  Until then, opportunistic trail runs with my dogs.  The last time I was out I got yelled at by some guy that my dogs had to be on leash in a leash-free park.  Turns out he was right, the big main path in the leash-free park is not leash-free, nor is any area within 50 yards of the path.  Seems kinda silly to me.  If you don't want to be around off-leash dogs, don't go to a leash-free park.  I'll try to keep everyone happy by just occasionally crossing the main path and sticking mostly to the secondary paths and going around in circles.  Hopefully my 3-second transgressions don't pique anyone's interests.  My australian sheppard/border collie mix and blue heeler aren't really that intimidating,  I wonder if I would have the same problem running with a pug and a yorkie... brings a funny image to mind anyway.  Maybe they would be ok if I had them in one of those front backpack things.

Aside from that tangent (always good to integrate math terms... oooo I did it again!), I managed to move down to 204 (down 1 lb!).

Good luck to all on your end of the year push!  Time to get out the door and run with the dogs (in a literal, not figurative manner).

Cheers. -t
