Me too!

But I totally got in trouble. Who knew there is "NO RUNNING ALLOWED IN THE REFUGE!" I saw the signs but figured I would pretend I didn't until I got yelled at. What a rebel.

Thrill seeker :)

Those are awesome pics, as usual, art school girl.  Did you specifically study photography?

So today my alarm went off on I laid in bed for 15 minutes arguing with myself about whether I was going running yesterday. I finally got up and headed out the door and spent the entire first half of my run arguing with myself about whether I wanted to do it or not. (Trust me I am a smart woman I have pieces of paper to prove it - they don't say anything about crazy though.)

When I got to my turn around point I finally had enough and told myself to STFU AND RUN, this may or may not have been out loud, luckily there was no one around to confirm I'm crazy. I finally got my run done though and felt better for it.

Good job getting it done, Stacey!

I did my strength work last night and am planning for a 30 or so minute run after work today. The weather sucks right now -- high 30's and rain -- so I'll probably be stuck doing it on a treadmill. I'm constantly amazed with those who are willing to run outside in crap weather! Thankfully, it will be clearing up by Thursday for my Turkey Trot

Way to get it done Stacey.  You are a better person than I getting up in the morning to run.  I have always wished I could but I'm not a morning person.

My weakness focus is shifting back to speed developement with my first track workout in several weeks tonight.  I'm sticking to JD's 5% rule of R-pace work to weekly mileage so should be a pretty short workout.  I'm pretty excited to get back on the track.  It is something I love to do.

I'm 2 for 2 with getting out of bed for the AM workout this week.  Not that I am up at the crack of dawn, mind you, but still getting it done before work which is my goal.  I am so not a morning person either, but in order to get two workouts a day in...

That's fantastic! Great job.

I'm not a morning workout type of gal either but the run commuting has left me with no choice I'm almost starting to like it (gasp)

I'm back! Other stuff mostly better, and I have the same goal as before! I'm mainly focusing on rebuilding my running, and starting back in on swimming, along with getting better at nutrition. Might as well as hit all the aspects. I've started the Holiday Streak as of Sunday at the Turkey Trot. I'm planning on running every day until New Years. got my run in today! 2 miles, cold but not too bad. Shins feel weak but we’re rebuilding! As soon as I walked out the door I knew it was the right decision to go for a run. I started smiling right away.

I have a BIG win today and a small loss.

Loss: Attempted to catch a hot hair straightener with my forearm and burnt the HELL out of it. It's my right hand, too. Which is making work a little difficult.

Win: I, for the FIRST TIME IN WEEKS, feel suuuuper fresh running!!!! I even had a heavier than usual pack today. I may be turning a training corner. Yaaay!

Welcome back!!! Great job getting your run in. I did a little run every day for a month challenge and it really set me up for good run consistency. Just keep it nice and easy!

Very cool Steve.  Glad you're going to be able to get back at it.

Stacey, I can't tell you how many times I've self-talked myself through the first part of a run.  I have never finished one and regretted it though :)

Ouch.  But yay!  I was thinking of you on my run this morning cause my legs felt like lead.  I was remembering a conversation from last year that went something like this:

Me: My legs feel like lead on my runs lately

You: Sometimes that happens

Me (the next day or so): My legs felt like lead today

You: Just keep working through it.

Me: (a day or so later) My legs felt like lead today.

You:   I don't remember the last time my legs felt fresh on a run.  STFU and HTFU.

Haha! I love the morning workout.  I feel like it makes the whole day go better.

Salty, do you run with your clothes for the day in your backpack?  Do you keep shoes at work?

Kirsten, go ahead with your 2x/day training!

Ha! Yeeeeep.

Leg freshness ... so rare. Sometimes makes random appearances during training but mainly hibernates until taper. Often disguises itself as some random injury or phantom pains during taper, too. Tricky b*stard.

I keep as much stuff here as I can (shoes, toiletries etc.) but there are a few things I have to run  back and forth with (lunch, clothes for work, clothes for PM workout, rain cover for backpack etc.)

Goodluck with the speed work, I'm still working on being able to run 5k without walking, it's getting a bit tedious really, just want to be able to do it and do it straight away without putting any work in. But that's just me in general I'm a bit of a lazy b!tch.

I did not win the argument with myself about getting out of bed this morning, so I now have to find a way to fit my ride in tonight. Evening training is really hard for me to fit into life. I really admire the way you guys manage to do it and do multiple workouts in a day.

It is hard. Absolutely.

It requires a lot of things from planning and organization to manipulation and persuasion.

For example, selfishly, I have convinced several friends that running is fun. Now we do that instead (or in addition to) happy hour.

Yeah, the scheduling can be tough sometimes, and I work from home!  I generally am getting workout #1 done early in the morning, sometime between 5:30 and 6 AM.  It took a LONG time to adapt to working out in the morning, and I still don't like it some days.

I always find the morning workouts a little tougher in the winter too.

I have learned to not try to do workouts I don't really enjoy in the morning.  Swimming?  Nope, that's not going to happen before 6 :)

_____

I hope everyone is continuing to work on their weakness(es), and good luck to all those Turkey Trotting :

Gretchen, I hope you post a report of your very first race evah!

It sounds like you have a very common condition that many runners and triathletes experience called patello-femoral pain syndrome. We have seen that runners with core weakness experience this.

Work your weakness. In the sport of triathlon, most coaches agree that you should spend the most time working on your weakest of the three sports. For many of you this will be swimming!
