If it makes you feel better, I go both ways. At the end of a long, tiring day I often make Yogi Bedtime tea. Please, stay with us.

By this time, you're grandfathered in despite your tea oddness

My treat is when I go through McDonald's drive-thru in the morning and get cream in my coffee.  I'm pretty old school when it comes to coffee.

Sorry to offend, but Steve is now my favorite Manatee!

I like my coffee like I like my women...

Heh is this an offshoot airplane reference?

I'm a fan of the simple french press

The responses for this are many:

  • Hot and dark.
  • Light and sweet.
  • Ground up and in the freezer.
  • Bitter
  • A variety of other wiseazz answers

It all depends on your outlook, I guess.

French Press coffee is the bomb IF you have a good french press that doesn't allow ANY coffee grinds through. Otherwise, that mouthful of coffee grinds isn't too tasty while traveling 70 mph on I-20 to work. Me? I'm a Dunkin Donuts with a splash of cream type of girl. For those of you who live where it's grey, chilly and rainy all the time...HOW do you survive? We're on day 5 or 6 of upper 30F temps, gray skies and drizzly rain. I'm about to poke myself in the eye with sharpened #2 pencils. Bring me some sunshine!

That weather keeps places like this beautiful:

Well, and it doesn't rain quite as much as we all let on

Matt will join you with his Baja Blast

I think Melanie is there with you on that, too.

I confess...I am a recovered Mountain Dew addict. When I pole vaulted in highschool it was not uncommon for me to bring a 2 liter out and lay in the pit and drink it. I still let myself indulge every now and again. I still love it but I had to choose between that and beer if I didn't want to stay fat. Couldn't do both.

I used to drink several Mtn Dews a day. Now I can't stand soda. Funny how that can change.

Okay, the first part of your post I'll agree with.  But the last sentence is a bald-faced lie.  It rains just as much, if not more, as we complain about.

Aw, honey.  It's okay.  I'll still talk to you.  I'm multi-drinkual.  I drink coffee, tea, chai, and hot Apple Cinnamon Skratch Labs.  I even drink water on occasion.

Re: Nancy's comment about coffee grounds, DH got an infuser mug from REI.  It has a fine mesh filter built into the lid so you can brew your coffee or tea right in the mug and let it steep while you're driving or whatever.  The only down side is that it just keeps getting stronger the longer you wait to drink it.  He loves it though.

This gets me through the winter here on the Wet Coast.  Otherwise I end up in the fetal position in the corner by Oct 15th...

Kirsten, is that one of those daylight lamps?

Yep.  Helps keep me off depression meds.  A couple years ago I was headed into a second deep depression.  I went to my doc to get meds and she told me to try one of these first.  Three days later it had made a difference--and not just in my own head.  My colleague noticed the difference too.  I highly recommend them.

I've heard good things and had one recommended to me as well.  I just never got around to buying one because I figured I'd get bored sitting in front of it.  Maybe I could put it by my bike trainer and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

I turn it on when I get into my office in the AM; it is set for 1 hour then turns off.  I am often up and down from my desk, but even if I get a total of 15 min or so each day it helps me.

Hm.  Something to consider.  What does it taste like?  I've been reluctant to plunk down $20 to discover I don't like it.  Maybe I'll go ahead and get some, then give it to you if I don't like it.  I do find that the apple cinnamon gets a weird slimy residue at the bottom.  Does the matcha do that too?

I'd have to buy one for J if we ever lived somewhere with a winter/cloudy/foggy/rainy season again. He hated the Bay Area. Pretty sure he has Seasonal Affective Disorder, and part of the reason we live here. Yuma, where we lived in AZ first, is known as the sunniest place on Earth.

Planning on getting a 30 minute run in but its gonna have to be on the treadmill unfortunately.

A lot of days Kevin comes home and says, "I didn't kill Abhishek today.  I wanted to but I didn't."

I hope that the dogs helped to relieve your work stress.

How is Phil doing in Indianapolis?

Between the passengers and his manager DH has some frustrating days. I respect his ability to control his tongue and tell him so. I couldn't do it.

So the gym posted on FB this morning that prices are going up $5 in February. Included in this notice is a statement that they are the best in town. Welllll, they are the best if you happen to live close to one of the two locations that are updated. Mine.... notsomuch.  So now it's time to reconsider my gym options. For as often as I use it I'm not digging the new $40 price tag. Planet Fitness is further away but I like the $10/month for the times that I need a DM (they do have DM's right?). Orrrr there is a nice facility in Santa Fe that  has a pool (50 meter on T/TH) DM and an indoor track. But Santa Fe is not convenient on non-work days. Orrrrr, there is another local gym chain that is $45, again further away than mine but much much nicer facility. Hmmmmmmm  decisions decisions. As Darren said, first world problems.

Aaaaand it looks like another kitteh has adopted Her Yantiness.

Well when you find out at 6:30am that the company that does your payroll haven't processed the pays and 150 people, who are all on annual leave (except 3 of us), didn't get paid, you just know it isn't going to be a great day. And it went downhill from there. However the dogs hadn't destroyed anything when I got home which was great.

Phil is in Tulsa in Oklahoma at the moment at an indoor dirt track speedway event and loving it - I am jealous not about the speedway but about the holiday.

Man TJ if I could find ANY gym membership for $40 or $50 a month I would be absolutely laughing. My last membership was reasonable at $85 a month and that was nearly 10 years ago. Needless to say no gym membership for me.

Thank you! Stay tuned...the next week and a half should be pretty great

More importantly  tell us about the new Flat White and the new tasting room

Oooh! Ok. So interestingly enough, we are headed to the tasting room/roastery today. It's been SWAMPED with people so we have been avoiding it until the crowds die down. I will share some pics later.

I have not tried the flat white but the base coffee is my favorite (aside from Thanksgiving blend) as it is Casi Cielo. What I mean by that normally our foundation for espresso drinks is espresso roast. Other than that, how do you go wrong with full fat milk?

Hmmm, I'll have to try the flat white (and remember not to ask for non-fat ).  I told  DH we have to go to Seattle to check out the new tasting room

I had a few flat whites when I was in Ireland a couple of years ago.  They tasted a bit weird to me, but that was probably b/c I was not used to full fat milk and certainly not full fat milk from cows they probably just finished milking!

I received a Nespresso and a milk frother for Christmas so when I have time to liesurely enjoy my coffee in the morning I've been using whole milk in the frother and trying to learn latte art

My wife got a Nespresso and a milk frother recently and absolutely loves it.  She also bought a set of special cups and can't leave the house without one in her hand.

My treat is when I go through McDonald's drive-thru in the morning and get cream in my coffee.  I'm pretty old school when it comes to coffee.

So if I don't drink Coffe can I still be a Manatee? What if I say I can't stand the taste of it?

I'm a tea girl, my favourite (yes this is how you spell it ) is Twinnings English Breakfast, fresh brewed with a dash of milk and don't forget the sugar.

oh thank goodness it's not just me United we stand Mel.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
