Congrats on the 19.88 Trev!

Congrats to Chris and Barry on signing up for IMFL!!!  Can't wait to cheer you guys on.

I feel like a slug for missing my 10k yesterday, but it was pouring buckets yesterday morning as I was getting ready to go to the start...and it really wasn't a very hard decision since I hadn't registered yet.

I made a really yummy healthy banana bread instead.    Do we still have a recipe exchange???

I went to look at my schedule for the week last night and saw that my run today would be at least 10k...it ended up being 6.3 miles...and then I had a threshold bike file...which just about killed me this time!  I suppose that is what I get for opting out of my 10K!!!  Arrrgh.

Have a good week everyone.

(raising hand)

HERE!!!!!

Getting caught up on my IM thread. Thinking about IM training. Watching it rain. Getting ready for a tempo run. Planning out ski lessons for kids (which gets back to my 2nd sentence, thinking about IM training). Getting kids ready for school. Updating library holds (including an IM training book, relating back to 2nd sentence). And checking in here too.

With that, it's time to get this party started, so I'm off!!

Happy Tuesday to all, and to all, a good day!!

Deep South reporting ... not much happening today.

Just got off a 15 mile ride which nearly cost me my life.  I am in aero cruising in the bike lane on a long slight downhill...approx 23 mph when an 18 wheeler passes me in a right hand curve, and the rear end of his trailer shares half the bike lane with me.

I was in the gutter and a milli-second from ditching it to the right over the curve.  I "affectionately"
motioned to him that he was #1

Hilarious post from ST about the guy that scoured his drawers.

*Cue-ing Budweiser tune*
Slowtwitch Light presents: Real American Heroes
<singing> Real American Heroes <singing>

Today, We Salute you Mr. Iron Man--his-pants.
<Mr. Iron Man--his-pants!>

After swimming a span greater than the Amazon, you pressed.
You biked a 112 miles... More than the years in a century.
We're sure you felt it coming, but did you let that stop you? No,
That Kona Slot was all to important.
<Must have been really important!>

Most would have quit, some would have stopped, but not you.
You crapped yourself!
<Dude, you totally just crapped yourself!>
For the final 15 miles of running on the hot roads of Florida, you pressed;
Torturing the runners behind you with a smell the likes of a rendering plant.
Its ok though Mr. Sheall, if that slot was our dream; We'd have crapped too.

So in 40 years when the grandkids ask if you did anything cool, you can tell them:
I was an Ironman.
So crack open an ice cold Slowtwtich Light, Mr. Iron Man--his-pants,
because we know that 140.6 is a long way and you got to go through a lot of crap to get there.

<Mr. Ironman dude that totally crapped himself...>

Northeast here reporting from the Southeast.  We have been in Orlando since Saturday.  When we left NY it was snowing so I won't complain about some of the cooler than usual weather we are having here.  Should be back in the 80's tomorrow.  Kids are having a blast.  The only miles I am logging are walking around the Disney parks!

Congrats to Julia on an awesome run and the our newly registered Ironmen-to-be.

SE here.  Perfect weather- cool nights, but warm days.  Excellent for golf!  I realized Saturday that unlike when I was  younger, I have to actually practice to maintain my game.  I suck.  Frown

That's a heart stopper!  This happen to my B-I-L with a truck pulling a camper,  they took him out, and didn't stop!  He went to the hospital (a few years ago).... So frustrating, but we were thinking that the driver may have not even realized what they did (one can only hope?).....

People really are clueless, or heartless.  A friend of mine was clipped with the DRIVERS SIDE mirror when a car was passing another car.  Didn't stop of course.  How can you not see a biker coming directly at you when you are in the wrong lane??!!

*shock* Surprised

I got an email from Silverman triathlon stating the winners and my jaw nearly dropped to the floor. I had NO idea that Chris McCormmack was racing the Half course.    GUESS WHO TOUCHED HIS BIKE?!

ME THAT's WHO! Everyone was clapping at me when I grabbed his bike and racked it. I dismissed that as grabbing the first bike that came in.   I had absolutely NO IDEA that it belonged to Chris.  No wonder why it looked so PRO and I was practically drooling over the zipp wheels.  I even turned off his bike computer so it wouldn't record the distance from grabbing the bike to the rack (it recorded at 55.98mi...yeah I seriously remembered that!).   Sweet Specialized Bike!

I even went back to the bike a little while later because there was two things that I saw on that that I was puzzled at.  They were Salt Sticks! LOL! Went online, and saw the video of Macca and the SaltStick inventor installing on the bike to see what the heck Salt Stick was.  Little did I know, that I had a brush with a well-known triathlete!!

I think the reason why everyone was clapping at me was because they HEARD his name over the announcer. Me, being deaf, of course had no idea.

How cool is that?!

Now I *so* regret for not snapping a picture! :-

Sorry, I always drop off the face of the earth on the forums when I travel.

Anyone racing this weekend?

Sam and I are doing the OBX half, I know Ronni is also doing the race and we're going to try to meet up with her there.
