Does anyone know if there is a practice swim (an official IM one) on Friday the day before the race?  I don't see anything about it in the Athlete Guide.  However, at IMKY last year, there was one.  I will not be getting in until later Thursday morning and was hoping for a practice swim Friday.

I'm going to have to look into it a bit further but I've heard that they quit doing official practice swims after a medical incident during one.

I want to say I had read that at one point a while back too.  But I looked at IMKY's athlete guide for 2011 and it was still listed on there.  TBH, it may be more of a danger for me to NOT get a practice swim in with others (as I'm not comfortable going out by myself) b/c I haven't really swam in the ocean before.  It will make me a lot more comfortable having that practice.

They didn't have an official Gatorade swim last year or anything official. If I have time I can look at athlete's guide from last year for what they say.

I think KY is unique in that you are not allowed to swim in the river any time but IM.

PCB is public beach and anyone can swim when they want so different scenario.

Long weekend for some...what training is everyone doing this weekend?

Tomorrow I am doing 5.5 hour ride and should be in 70s if family can come with I'll start with hour ows then do my bike as a brick. I try to build my power through ride so add about 5 watts more per hour.

Sunday is my daughter's 17th birthday and soccer tournament for my 13 year old. I hope to do 3 sweet spot ride. It is likely to hit the 80s and set a record.

Monday will be another nice day and hope to do another long ride.

I find riding in the 70s much nicer than 50s.

is it allowed to carry your phone with you? (Of course juts Bike/Run)

With the new iPhone feature your family can track your position at anytime.

I've got a 2:30 run tomorrow and a 1:00 bike Sun that I'm probably going to stretch out. Got a 5 hour bike next Saturday then starting in on taper. Yikes!

Got a 15 mile run tommorrow.  Got some skin back on my foot too so hoping that works out for me.  I was supposed to do 100 on sunday but I am on ER call (I'm an orthopedic surgeon) so I am not sure how that is going to work out.  I tried to ride today but its over 100 effing degrees AGAIN....sorry but I'm NOT happy about more frigging heat.....with 40 MPH wind.  At points I was riding at a 30-45 degree angle from the road.  I have a bad saddle sore and I tolerated aother 31 miles on the triner but thats seriously all I could handle and I felt like it was just crappolla training so I stopped.  WIll fight again on sunday.

Dear God

Enough with the toaster oven.  Could you PLEASE TURN OFF THE HEAT IN SOUTH TEXAS!!  I get the message.  It sucks here and I never should have moved.  I'm woking on it.

Thanks -Socks

http://www.trackmyathlete.com or something like that.  Its not free.  Its a GPS thing they will deliver to your condo.  Its like $25.  I had one last year.  It works well on the bike.  Not so much on the run esp if you are slow like me.

One of my co-workers used the http://www.myathletelive.com/ tracker for IMWI.  She said it worked well.  It cost about $40.  Probably including shipping to and from the event/condo.

"Combining innovative miniaturized GPS and real-time cellular data transmission technologies along with years of endurance athletic and high adventure experience, MyAthlete provides real-time athlete tracking in the human powered endeavor of pushing ones physical and mental limits."

FYI - Cell coverage on the course might not be as good as one would hope and it can't be used on the swim.

2 1/2 hour run, 50 mile bike with 5 mile intervals followed by 50 min run. I am building back up from IMWI.  We have had beautiful weather here in Madison 70-80's this week.  I do plan to fit in watching my friends online who are racing Kona tomorrow.

Safe training everyone.

5K swim, 120 mile bike, 3.5 mile run in the books. If I keep this up I might win this Ironman Wink, well maybe come in 2nd.  1 hr. into the bike and the masterlink came out of my chain and the chain fell off. ugh! now what?. Call my number 2 biggest fan, Mom, help! Note to self: Carry a spare link it's very small, doesn't take up much space and could be a lifesaver.

http://www.myathletelive.com/shop That's the one I ordered. Never used it before but I figured it was worth it to keep mom happy.

$45 total for the shipping and the service.

Okay, Y'all need to pray that you do NOT have winds like today for race day.

That s*cked great big donkey balls.

Hwy 20 west was a tailwind and somehow EVERYTHING else was a headwind.  Really.  Riding down Front Beach eastbound was like riding in a wind tunnel that was blowing directly at your face.

I was not a happy camper by the time I got back to my car.

I did take pictures of Thomas Drive though.  I need to figure out a good way to upload them that isn't the BT albums because that would take forever.  I think I could upload them to FB and just make sure the album is open to "Everyone".  Do you think that would work?

Sorry about the wind suckage. There is a storm coming across I think.  We had 40MPH wind here yesterday and it was 102 out.  BLECH.  I bailed.

It was a bit windy out there for sure.  Good ride though.  Time for a good 16 miles tomorrow!  Best of all my shoulder held up great.  Almost all Z1 but still happy to not have the pain from the past couple weeks.

Rode 102 miles at Emerald Isle, NC and yea the winds sucked here too! Not a great confidence booster but at least I finished. Hoping for a nice ocean swim tomorrow and a long run if the knee behaves.

5.5 hour ride done with increasing watts every hour....best long ride in last month other than IMAB. Found a loops that is similar terrain to IMFL and rode round and round I think 8 times. Speedy for me given my watts...new position and slight tweaks have helped....riding training wheels so will be faster with Zipps, lower CdA tires, latex tubes and disc cover.

I got first call from my son who is in Air Force basic training toward end of my ride He is doing well..very proud of him.

I didn't get swim in due to logistics...shoulder much better but bit sore end of ride...I must swim...I must swim...I must get some swim training in.

Took a down week this week.  Didn't intend to just seemed to work out like that.  Gained 10 pounds.  Hope it does not effect my performance at this point.  Getting bacck on the horse and will push for a 20 hour week this next week starting with a 20 mile run tomorrow and a 100 mile bike on Monday.  Any advice about how this bad week might be effecting my training?

Do they count the run distance on the beach for Lap 2 on the swim as part of 2.4 miles.
