Nice job on picking up the swimming, folks. I 100% agree with Ryan on using a set interval on your hard sets. That has made a big difference in my swimming. It really is hard to push these intervals hard enough solo - I get my best workouts in when my coach is on the deck with a stop watch. The set interval is the closest thing to that I have found to simulating that. Now that I am home for the summer I am going to try masters at least once per week - I am sure that is good as well for the motivational "push."

What is on tap for the weekend everyone?

Today I have a little pre-race brick, Sunday a HIM in the North Georgia Mountains. The RD put the race together as a response to all the new races that are advertised as "flat and fast!" and "guaranteed PR!" It features two categorized climbs on the bike (the largest is a category 1) and 4 categorized climbs on the run. 50% chance of rain, and temps in the upper 80's. Sounds like it is going to be a rip-roaring good time. The timing and difficulty of the race has worked out perfectly (I hope!) to kick off my summer block of training.

I have a right hip and right knee that are feeling a little wonky - not really pain, but my knee just feels a little weak under inside-out lateral stress - My run mileage was really low this past month - I am curious to see how it holds up during/after the race.

Safe training weekend everyone!

Out for a nice ride this morning with a couple of friends marmadaddy and dexter.  I dropped the tri bike off at the shop afterwards, can't seem to get it to shift smoothly in the lower gears. almost like the cable is sticking, but it has already been replaced once. Hopefully they figure it out.

Crummy ride this morning. But not as crummy as the st George conditions. Check out the swim splits and the ST thread. High winds and serious chop. Bryan went 1:08 when he should go :58. My masters coach went 59 when he should go 55. Lots of people being pulled from the water apparently

Woot! Go Bryan, go! If you folks have the time keep posting Bryan updates. I barely have cell service in the mountains but I am getting the group emails from time to time. Sounds like tough conditions all around.

nice rides Fred and Tom. 1:35 on the bike for me with 3x12' @95-100%ftp and felt great. Switched my long ride to tomorrow since it has been raining all day.Looks like Bryan is right where he wants to be...excellent bike split with the conditions...sounds brutal.

TSimone - 2012-05-05 3:49 PM Just saw Bryan on the Hot Corner cam.  2nd in AG.  The first place 40-44 Ag'er put up a 5:18 bike split!

Just got on BT for the first time today - go Bryan!  That leading AG ride is only 10min back from the top two Pro's and better than the third place Pro.

Here's hoping for a great run for Bryan.

As for me, 60km ride followed by my first brick of the year - 5km and it did not feel good.  Glad I did this and will need to do some more before the first race.  Legs really felt like logs and the rest of the body took a couple of km to sort itself out.  BUt I really never felt good for the run.

My bet is that AGer ahead of Bryan is a former cycling pro....

Spot on,  German pro

IM St George is nuts.   The #2 guy out of T2 in [Edited] M45-49 swam a 2:02!!!!!!!!  And rode his way into 2d with a 4:55 (assuming these numbers are accurate)........  Following that AG as my masters coach was looking fora KQ but not looking good at the moment

Crappy ride.   Did 2.5 hours, just me and a good friend.  We rode flat for about 30 miles then did a bit of climbing.   Absolutely no power in the legs.   Didn't help that my back wheel kept getting shoved to the left and rubbing the brake pad, including on the climb.  Then had to deal with a&&hole drivers.  That sucked.  I was pretty happy to get off the bike

I would assume that those numbers are inaccurate, relating to the same issue, it would be pretty hard to out bike Twelsiak by that much.

Yeah, has to be wrong
