Started last week with feeling very crappy. Monday thorough Thursday I had bad headaches and was sleeping about 12- 14 hours a day. Got over that and on Monday got hit with a wonderful cold. coughing and hacking all this week. Not much training involved. ( not much coaching either Sugar). Went to StThomas to help with the grandchildren who all have bad colds to. Today I got a call from my sister in Alberta. My older brother has been rushed to the hosptial in Calgary with a brain anerism. They are doing tests and I won't here more until later. Fingers and everything crossed. Praying like crazy. He has to be OK. {{{hugs}}} Sorry to hear and sending prayers and hope all will be well. Linda |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for a ll the well wishes. No change in his condition. Blinding headaches and the doctors cannot give him much for it as they have to keep him awake. Waiting for an Angiogram to see what the issue is. Blockage or burst vein. They say there is more blood in the brain than they at first thought but the bleeding seems to have slowed . I'll be flying out soon to be there. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wanted to wish everyone a great weekend. Good luck to our racers, Linda, Sam and Tony.....stay tough. Best wishes to you and your family Robb. Very tough situation and I hope all is well when you arrive at the hospital. I know I've been MIA over the last few days and it has nothing to do with this terrific group of people we call the MG. You know how much I love the group and all that it has to offer, but I believe there are times when stepping back for a little bit is not a bad thing. I'm not one to dwell on the negative publicly and rather than get sucked into a downward spiral of feeling sorry for myself, I am attempting to focus on things other than triathlon, like Cooper and work. Good remedy for me. Edited by SSMinnow 2010-11-12 5:50 PM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Super windy here, at this point it would be a helping wind for the entire race, if it's going to be that windy at least it's at our backs. Waves on the beach are crazy, I can't imagine how B2B was in this weather. Haven't been able to hook up with Roni yet, hopefully tomorrow. Hope everyone else racing has a great weekend. |

That's not how IM train in this neck of the woods....different strokes for different folks...but still. That's because you live up north. Pretty much how we do it in the south, as I refer to my pre race nutrition from the Greenville sprint last year (beer, brats, cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon). This lead me to my fastest time yet in this race. Besides, you should know, that's one of the benefits of IM training - eat what you want. It won't show. ![]() |

This lead me to my fastest time yet in this race. Besides, you should know, that's one of the benefits of IM training - eat what you want. It won't show. ![]() Yes, well I used to live by that law myself. In fact, I worked out more so this 4'10" frame could eat whatever she wanted. Then one day someone wiser than me suggested the concept of recovery. I thought it was hogwash until I started eating very well before workouts and then again afterwards. Guess what? I recovered quicker and my workout the next day was better. Do I still eat some crap? Of course (although not the aforementioned crap) but never before key workouts or immediately afterwards. Training for an IM is hard on the body and causes a ton of inflammation on its own. Beer, brats, bacon and the like make it soar even higher. Inflammation is the enemy of performance. |

Not sure how you can do that! I can't imagine any benefit of running the day after after drinking a 12 pack. (unless of course you shared it with 6 of your friends) I can imagine tons of benefits!!! A run would certainly help me feel better, I'd hope!! Funny, in college I used to have some of my best workouts on Saturday mornings, after Friday night benders. I mean, I'd just come alive. It was crazy. My friends and I chalked it up to the extra carbs. ![]() I don't know how I'll survive Thanksgiving weekend with my party-inclined in-laws in town. I may actually end up drinking 3-4 nights in a row (starting in afternoons, likely). Yikes!! It's all about pacing, I've found with them... and knowing that I'll never, ever be able to keep up. And being OK with that. Enough about booze. Tony, congrats on a great run! Congrats to Sam too! Can't wait to hear about it! Any word from Trevor and Linda??! |

I'll just tell you you're a ball of inflammation waiting to explode. I was about the agree with you Barry, but read this. Sorry. Suzy wins. ![]() Then again... on the contrary, maybe you did it wrong. If you drink a beer per mile while running, you could run forever. You wouldn't feel you legs screaming at you. You'd be numb. Let's see how long it takes John to chime in. And go... Edited by Jeepguy2358 2010-11-14 5:28 PM |
