While I would like to say I can do a 'half marathon' just as a training run I know myself and that will not be the case. And...I have had some lower pelvic pain AFTER doing too much running lately so I am may opt out. I have my Olympic distance race today (it's raining cats & dogs) and then in two weeks a sprint race so I think those two efforts will be good. While my goals is not to 'win' my AG nor do I think I am anywhere near being able to qualify for Worlds my goal is to do my best. You guys are the best! Thanks for all the well wishes. I am hoping I'm not seeing a theme with all this rain! Rain for Tour D'Apple, now rain today. At least today's course is flat. I couldn't not race a race either, so I feel ya! I also agree that the Olympic and sprint will be enough intensity to help sharpen you for the 70.3. So, I agree you shouldn't run the half. I'm sure that makes you feel way better about your decision Sorry about all the rain you've been having - keep those wheels down! Thanks AM! I just found we are having a surprise birthday/retirement party for my dad the Saturday night before the half marathon so I will focus more on celebrating him that weekend. If I did the race I'd feel stressed if I stayed up too late. Decision is made. NO half marathon for me. Maybe another time! |

Extreme Veteran 710 Wilmington, NC | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 White Lake International Triathlon Race update Luckily the rain stopped for the race (was sprinkling prior). Lake was calm and once I got past my initial anxiety of the start of the swim and things spread out it was fine. We had to do 2 (750 meter) loops. The bike was good. I felt like we were going into the wind the whole but for some reason that always seems to be the case. I felt like I was able to keep a steady pace. Run was 2 loops as well. I am not a huge fan of 10k's however I do prefer them over 5k's! Looking back at my spilts varied a bit from mile to mile but overall I kept it anywhere from 6:50-7:04. I'll take it!! I did end up winning my AG and surprising was 2nd Female overall. However, with that being said there were 2 women in the OPEN event so technically that makes me 4th. |

Weather seems to be holding for him. Still 65 and cloudy. Now rain not expected until 4:00 or later so he should be Ok. In Wisconsin, the weather continues to be terrible. All day rain.56F with a “real feel” of 50. |

Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 Thanks everyone. I had a good day. Run was a little slower than I wanted. The ride out had a headwind and I pushed a little harder than I should have on the bike. The good news is no mechanicals it didn't rain and I didn't get sick. On my second lap of the run Michelle had a funny cheer it went "Run Faster, so I don't get wet!" I was a little confused, I thought I've heard every possible cheer at a race. I can't complain, she is top shelf when it comes sherpa/pr person/social media manager/hype person. The rain didn't start until we were driving home. It really was perfect triathlon weather. I will put up race report later. Speaking of stacking races. Someone dropped out of the team for the local Ragnar team on the 23rd and 24th. I'm considering it. Idk about schedule or how my body will respond. |

I did see that and the new route looks interesting but I don't think that it works for me since I am targeting AOTC in April and I will need that weekend of riding to prepare. For those who did not receive the Land and Sky relay info, it's moving early March and going from Warren Wilson College to the Fonta Flora Brewery in Lake James on a net downhill course. https://gloryhoundevents.com/event/land-and-lakes-relay/ |
