Artemis - 2010-03-18 11:43 AM Now that I'm done talking about my shoes (I can't help it.  So excited!), I should talk about my goals.  I'm great on biking and don't think it will be any problem to make that goal.  Running is going to be a challenge.  I had to bail on the half marathon this weekend.  My patellar tendonitis is still being problematic and A is too busy to drive to Atlanta with me, so we're going to stay home.  I don't know that I'll be able to make my running goal without the half and I know I can't do a half right now.  I'll do the best I can.  Sorry team.

No worries, your health is the most important thing.  Sorry you missed your race, and I hope you heal quickly.

KOM - 2010-03-18 1:24 PM People coming over is about the only time I clean my house.  It really needs it!

You're nicer than I am.  I save my cleaning for AFTER company leaves, so I can enjoy a clean and peaceful house.  I am terrible.

Okay, that's all the chat I have in me.  Run completed, and I'll probably do some yoga later to help my recovery.  Have a great evening everyone.

OK Folks,  I am falling way behind with my running.  My HM training group has run 12 miles, and I am only up to 8.  If I don't run at least 9 miles at lunch today... (gulp) I should be tased.

Okey dokey. You have 3 hours to report back, before I come after you with a taser in each hand.

I am pleased to report that I completed a run of exactly 10 miles.  It was a slow ten miles, but I'll take it.  So, go ahead and holster that taser until next week!

Good for you!

Hey there Beasties. I am leaving for the weekend as of tomorrow morning so I won't be able to update the spread sheet but I will be training, never fear.

FWIW, I too, only clean when imminent company is coming. One of my fears are the words "unexpected company"...I have fur balls that are so big I should name them.

Have great weekends all

billsorg - 2010-03-18 9:21 AM My wife and I were awoken to the lovely sounds of child-puking last night... Did ya ever notice that $^*$%!#$*! never happens at noon, it's always 1:30 in the freaking morning?!?!?  Anyway, we were up and down for several hours and my morning workout became a casualty of the situation.  I'm going to make a valiant effort toget to the gym around 3 today for a treadmill run, but the work schedule may not cooperate.  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

I wonder if there is some medical condition that until you hit 17 or so that all puking must be between the hours of 12am and 4am.  You continue longer but it starts during these time periods.

Anyone a doctor or sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night care to answer?

Sorry about that Bill - still a great post yesterday!

Nope, your theory doesn't work.  When they hit college, most of their puking is still done between 12 and 4.

I was thinking the same thing! Of course they are not in the next room (hopefully) and are responsible for their own mess...

X2 on the healing Jen.  It does suck to have to miss a race, but your knee will thank you.

Your little toe-shoes remind me of the socks I had when I was a kid with the toes in them.  Mine were multi-colour striped jobbies...I loved them!

Good, let's move on to socks from footware.  I have been thinking of getting these because my 1st and 2nd toes rub quite badly. I have a big callous built up and I am not looking forward to sandal season....the black nail from my half on the other side isn't helping either.  Do you like using injinji's?  Why did you get them originally?

I adore mine, although I wish I had the rainbow ones. I originally got them because I was getting blisters on my pinkie toes and blood blisters on my big toes. Switched to injinji's and they cleared up. My only issue is that they seem to make my feet a wee bit wider, so I need a wider toe box. I alternate between injinji and some of those double layer socks. Both kinds are tougher for me to get on than regular socks, so I have some T1 worries. I can't race without socks, don't know how some people manage it.

I have to spend an hour on the trainer tonight. Boo! I've done it once before, but I really start to crap out after about 45 minutes. Now that the weather is so pretty I need to get some new tires so I can get the bike outside. Its sunny and 70 and so pretty! But I know there's no way my back tire will hold out on the open road. Time to visit the LBS.

Just finished my playlist for spin tonight.  All Irish but not necessarily traditional.  I've got Sunday Bloody Sunday from U2, The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Chieftains with Sting, Mick Jager and Ry Cooder and of course our local favorites Dropkick Murphy.  Should be fun.  Now if I could just bring some cold ones for my water bottle holder!

I never saw these striped ones; I've got white.

There are also sandal socks that only have a separation between the first and second toe.

Artemis - 2010-03-17 10:15 PM 15.51 miles biking done today!  Also got a pair of Vibrams in the mail.  Good day!

REALLY???  Have you used Vibrams before?  Did you test out this pair yesterday?  What did you think?

I've worn my husband's around the house before, but never had my own pair until yesterday.  I wore them about 2 hours.  I love them.  Definitely notice my legs are sore in weird places because they are not used to those muscles, but I think it's going to be a good change.

There's a pic in my log.

Oooh, I think I want a pair as well.  But I still need to wrap my head around the barefoot running thing.  One of my bar run friends is really into barefoot running and he's been trying to get me to do the same.  Last night he was wearing his vibrams and was trying convince the rest of us to give up our running shoes.  I told him I bought some racing flats (at his suggestion) because the only way I'll get into the barefoot thing is if I take baby steps.  Probably once I get used to the racing flats, we'll see if I can take the next leap and run in vibrams :-X

billsorg - 2010-03-18 11:54 AM First we obsess about girl scout cookies... now it's crazy shoes with little toes on them.  I'm going to check to see if my local running shop has them.  I'm a little behind on my goals... I know I'll be fine with running since the half mary this weekend will put me at about 85-90% of that goal.  Biking should be OK too... Swimming will be a challenge.  But my thoughts at the beginning of the month were to go heavy run leading up the the half mary and then focus almost completely on bike/swim.  So I'm about 85% sure I should get to my goal.

Daughter update... my wife said she's feeling much better.  She's eating and keeping everything down.  Just heard from a friend that the rotovirus (sp?) is going around, but it's just a 24-hour thing.  That's probably what she has.  Hopefully, we're out of the woods!

Yikes, glad to hear she's doing better!  (Tsk, I missed the first post, when you said she was sick!  I'm so behind!)

Ummm, make that through Sunday.  I guess that adds up to 5 this year!

Uh, I *started* celebrating on Saturday.  Does doing the Shamrock Shuffle & going to the post party also count as celebrating St. Patty's Day?  Because if so, then it's like a 9-day celebration going on around here.

ebshot - 2010-03-18 2:08 PM Boy, what a chatty bunch today!  I'm all caught up.

Bill, glad your daughter is feeling better.  The pukes is just awful for everyone involved.

No one pass out but I went swimming!  It felt great to get in the water again.  It has been months since I have been.  I really need to get into some sort of a routine.  I'll have to figure it out soon.

Off to walk the puppy.  It is too nice outside to sit inside.  Catch you later!

Nice!  I haven't swum since my last tri in August.  Whoops!  I figure I can swim after my marathon since I'm planning on not running for at least 2-3 weeks after.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-18 8:49 AM Bill:

Great post yesterday but I am ignoring it until next month ok?  - LOL!

Thanks Bill!  For those who don't get over to the enemy T.W.I.S.T.E.R. thread, I was feeling a little competitive yesterday and in the mood for a little trash talk.  Here's the message I left on their thread...

Hello team T.W.I.S.T.E.R.
Hi, I'm Bill from the Beginner Triathlete I.T. department.  I'm here to inform you that you're team has too many posts and you should all reduce your number of posts to a maximum of 2 PER WEEK through the end of this challenge.  Unless, of course, your BT status is "Muck Raker" or "Dork Face", in which case you should post only once per week.

Furthermore... your prolific BT logs are jamming up our servers, so the I.T. department respectfully asks that you significantly decrease the volume of your workouts.  Heck, it's St. Patty's day, so why not just take the rest of the month off?  Rest is nice.  Rest is good.  Grab a green beer and blow off that workout.  Triathlon training is REEEEEALLY hard.  Maybe do some bowling or some basket weaving.

We appreciate your support,
The BT.com I.T. Department

Have a great day everyone!

Very devious!  I hope at least a few of them fell for it.  Too funny.

HILAROUS!!
