First off,   I DIDN'T invite my boss into the MG.  Never gonna happen.  You guys should know me better than that.  My husband isn't even invited in!!!!

Sam - 2 thoughts.    1) I agree with Suzy on the posture issue.   When I started back to work my chiropractor warned me that adopting the "sitting at a desk all day" posture was just as traumatic to my body as the IM training.   Be sure to keep the head and neck aligned and take regular stretch breaks.   2) that region of your body has a large number of lymph nodes.   When you say sore to touch can you identify any swollen lymph nodes or does it feel like muscle pain?  That might be something the doctor asks.

I finally was able to take down Christmas yesterday.  Never made it to the gym but carrying 14 large boxes up and down the stairs counts as a workout right?   My legs sure think so.

That course looks hard.  But at least there is some nice shopping for the spectators while they wait.

anyone try this?  i'm reading some good thing...

ryan, tony, .....  lets have it.

I know you didn't ask me but it sure looks like a "Powerbased" program .....   Foot in mouth  You are coming around Johnny!

I have never used this actual software interface, but the plans are all written by Jorge Martinez (JorgeM) from E3 training solutions who also writes the cycling plans here on BT.  His cycling plans are strong and work.

i knew you'd chime in!!!  i hope everyone will.   no pwer for me.  they do hr based stuff.  great info on jorge, i didn't catch that.  thanks

edit, most importantly... i hear it makes trainer workouts A LOT more fun.

I have been looking for a good used Computrainer (not  having much luck) but maybe I should just get some ant+ stuff and use this Trainer Road.

I love the idea of an IM or a IM 70.3 event close enough that I can sleep in my own bed.  But an event in DC in early AUGUST?  Gonna be a little steamy.  Agree with Sam.

I can send you a message how to set up an alert so that any time a CT is put on CL anywhere in the country you get an email. I bought mine for $325. I use it every week even during the warmer days as sometimes nighttime is the only time I have to train. Let me know if you want to try this.

John,   there is an ongoing thread in Tritalk.  I was following it for the first few pages, but dropped off after that:

Found this on Food Network (my new favorite site):

Beef and Butternut Squash Stew -- Looks pretty tasty!

Disclaimer: I've never tried it... don't think I've ever had butternut squash either.  Good Luck!  Let us know either way!

Man up people.  We have three HIMs in Wisconsin mid July-mid August. Heat Index was like 190F for Racine last year and neither Dino or I completely melted!

I love butternut squash. I usually just boil it like mashed potatoes but without the milk bc that's hey way my mom made it growing up. On occasion I will bake it (either half it lengthwise, scoop out seeds, and drizzle with maple syrup or cut it into 1 in pieces and toss with olive oil) different ways depending on what I'm having with it. I find it's really good with chicken pot pie or roast pork.

Did the Kale with a bit of olive oil and some smoked salt.  LOVED it, as did Jeff and Zach.  Demolished the 2 bunches in no time.  YUM.  Please tell me that this is very healthy!!!

BTW, John......what's with the boobs???

Kale = superfood. Yay for you, Linda!!! Eat up!!!

Butternut squash: I love it any which way! Soups = you can go sweeter with some maple syrup hints, splash of 1/2 and 1/2 (google recipes). Savory it's awesome with some cayenne or curry. I love love love roasted winter veggies... Chop big, toss with olive oil and kosher salt, bake at 400 or 425 until done -- takes awhile, like 1-ish hour. (I do potatoes, onion, garlic, squash, parsnips, turnips, carrot, celeriac, whatever is in the box and will roast up). I have a nice gratin recipe with blue cheese: http://www.cookinglight.com/food/top-rated-recipes/healthy-butternu... If all else fails, just cut the squash in half, scrape out seeds, bake until soft (350), cube, and serve with some butter and salt or butter/cinnamon/brown sugar. Come back and tell us what you did!!

(edit to add paragraphs!!)

I managed to retrieve my Sufferfest video via Windows media player so had my first go at "Fight Club"

WOW!

I was so smashed by the end of the hour that my body was still shaking 10 mins later - and yes Suzy, I did drink my chocolate milk straight after the workout! The hour passed so quickly that I was convinced I was only half way through and dreading what was coming next...!

While many of us our in the deep freeze, a few of us might be racing, right?  So, who is braving the elements?  Details people!

And time for some deep thoughts,  what one thing are you going to differently in '12?  Could be tri related, but maybe not.  Think!

Sorry, a bit late, I get most of my BT in at work and work has been really busy lately.

Looks pretty slick.  Kind of like the erg video's.  Very cool you can turn your computer into a power meter head unit.

You do need some sort of ANT+ hardware to broadcast, so for HR you need a Garmin.

If you want to do power a'la computrainer you need one of the listed trainers, they have 120 listed but 56 are beta and 2 are listed as (Don't Use).  Also to make sure you're comparing apples/apples between workouts you need to make sure you always have the tension and tire pressure the same.

I think paired with a power meter for power based workouts or Garmin for HR based workouts it looks like it could provide some great data to look at.  Also looks like a well thought out program.

This software looks miles ahead of the racermate software for the Computrainer, which hasn't been updated in something like 10 years.

The biggest thing the computrainer has over this is the fact that you can create workouts like the ones listed here (not as easily though) and the Computainer changes the resistance for you, harder going up hills, easier going down hills, where this would mean you have to make sure your trainer gets harder when the watts go up in the program.

If it's something on your trainer you have to manually do, it could be tough for intervals to keep changing the resistance back and forth.

I do like that everyone is using ant+, means us programming hacks can write our own software to recieve the data and make cool software like this.

Oh and creating a search for computrainers is pretty easy.  If you have a google account, go to their alerts and create an alert that e-mails you as it happens.  Enter the search terms +craigslist.org +computrainer.

You should get an e-mail everytime google index's a page with those terms, you'll get some false positives but it's pretty accurate.
